Isn’t it the same pretty much every where? How many other club’s supporters could bemoan their players flourishing elsewhere. Must be a high percentage. The issue, as I see it, is clubs like us being in freefall for years, till recently. Hardly surprising many players succeed after moving on given how shite we’ve been since the last league one playoffs. Look how well some of those lot did after us: Wallace, Holmes, Townsend, to name just a few.
October 18, 2024 at 2:48 pm #292087I bet Man. City supporters are loving Cole Palmer at Chelsea. (Mind you they’re still successful)
October 18, 2024 at 3:05 pm #292088One of the major failings of the Swann era was, in my opinion, the complete overlooking of youth-team players. Until of course we massively over-corrected and just played completely under-cooked youngsters in the first team.
A lot of promising talent was overlooked in favour of over-paid, under-achieving signings. And judging by some of the players who’ve thrived since leaving, that has really cost us.

October 18, 2024 at 3:37 pm #292089Everything was a failure under Swann
October 18, 2024 at 5:04 pm #292092Yep under Swann we changed from a club spotting talent, bringing it in then selling it on for profit when they had improved enough to be wanted by bigger clubs with bigger budgets. This basically kept us turning over reasonably successfully and for awhile we climbed the league structure to our highest point since the early sixties. Mr Swann bought a lot of decent players in who were over our budget and we got one promotion from league two and a couple of playoff flirtations but in the end had to sell our better players to pay off some of a huge debt we should never have been lumbered with. As many have said before, one man’s vanity almost cost us our club, that’s why we should be patient and tolerant with our current management structure, without them we would have been toast

October 23, 2024 at 5:42 pm #292256Good luck to Trinity, I’d say they have a fair chance of making R2 having drawn Hednesford.
Is Declan any relation to Callum Howe?
Probably going to be a tougher game against Hednesford, the next moneybags of non league who defeated Gateshead.
Are Hednesford throwing sacks-full of cash at it then?
They have a squad more than good enough for the league ABOVE already.

October 23, 2024 at 5:45 pm #292257They are 11th in their division though, 11 points off the top and not in great form.

A lot of shite was signed…. I lost count of the free transfers incoming but were on huge wages and had past their best 2 or so seasons prior to joining. Now need players who are under 28, have a point to prove and are therefore hungry to improve not just turn up and take a wage.

November 3, 2024 at 9:21 pm #292879So, Harrogate away in R2.
Sutton & Muldoon, both ex SUFC are there.
Muldoon, age 35 (T1 Diabetes) scored the only goal of the game in their victory over the mighty Wrexham yesterday.
Trinity have nothing to lose in this fixture and everything to win.
Good luck to them.November 3, 2024 at 9:26 pm #292880Oh well.
It was good while it lasted.Posted when they went 3-0 down and decided at that point to just listen to the Iron commentary, as opposed to both.
What a game it turned out to be!
Congratulations Trinity! -
