Are we allowed to sign unattached players if possible or are we not allowed to sign anybody ?

If they’re unattached to any other club, it’s not a transfer is it?

I wasn’t sure if we’re allowed to offer contracts full stop.

I think SST said recently that we can sign players but can’t pay a fee.
How we ever expected to sign Smith on loan with a view to a permanent transfer at £150k is unbelievable. The idea of Dave “Pie in the Sky” maybe.
Presume the same fate awaits Jenkins? L2 last season, dropped 2 divisions and still can’t get a game, doesn’t look good for his career.

That fee agreed was purely down to Hilton. Jenkins needs to go back, we’d be better off saving his wage and recalling Pugh.

You know my views on Pugh but I don’t see why we would need to recall him to replace somebody who isn’t making the match day squad.

I’d guess the NL probably did a bit of C&P…

    We’re not in the EFL.
“In the interests of transparency and in line with the principles of good governance, in June 2021 EFL Clubs approved an amendment to the Regulations to allow the EFL to publish a list of those Clubs under registration embargoes on EFL.com.”

    From the Hereford OWS:-
“Hereford FC are delighted to announce the extension of Tom Pugh’s loan spell until the end of the season.”

    That’s sorted that then.

Hopefully Pugh has a good game for them against Tamworth in Feb and does us a favour.

    We’re not in the EFL.

Exactly. Like I said, maybe the NL did a bit of copy & pasting?
No point in them reinventing the wheel.

24 hour recall option in the loan agreement so he’s there to call upon if we need him. We could have done with him against Boston to bolster the midfield. Shrimpton’s not the answer in games like that when we’re being over run.

Looks like Jimbob doesn’t rate him.

If the league us doing its job as a regulator properly, then wages should be taken into account far more than any transfer fees.

Hereford wouldn’t want to agree with that and so it might come down to either sending him out on loan and not being able to recall him or not getting his wages off the books at all.

The loan agreement has a 24 hour recall clause in the deal.

“We wish Tom all the best for his extended spell away from the Attis Arena, with the nature of the loan holding a 24 hour recall within it, should the Iron require to activate it”

Whether Hereford liked it or not, they’ve agreed to it.

Fair enough WG, just making the point that sometimes in negotiations you don’t always get what you want.
