    Scunthorpe United

    Conditions under monitored loan agreement.

Anyone been a-hunting to find out what this means? A leftover from last season with a loanee?

Assume it’s monetary loan rather than player loan?

I fear it will only be speculation and the truth may never come out. Possibly the stadium naming rights, the transfer of assets, some loan arrangement with Coolsilk. Whatever it is its just another sad mark on the history of the club,

If we cannot bring anybody in (and I don’t know the details behind it) then we are relegated.

Time for a statement from the club

understand it is more about the EFL loan due to COVID, relatively few took it and now conditions on transfers – free agents and loans OK but cannot buy and wages need to be reasonable (whatever that means)

This is my take so maybe not exactly spot on. Whatever it is we are one of 3 clubs in the league who are under it (Oldham Swindon)

No doubt it will be all the fans fault and an excuse for relegation next May!

Worrying that we are lumped in with Oldham who have struggled financially for years and are owned by a guy universally disliked by the fans, Swindon who are about to go pop any day now and who’s fans despise the owner and then Scunny who’s fans…………. need I say more?

I am not too surprised by this, Swann and co. did mention several times last season that the club was tight on cash, was looking at all options, and wanted the EFL to help.

This explains why we’re only offering players one year deals, and are currently shopping in the bins at the back of Aldi.

But once again we find out about it from a website, not from the club.

    Communication? What communication?

This is exactly what people mean when they say fan engagement. Tell us what’s going on rather than letting everyone speculate. If we’ve taken the efl loan and are only allowed to sign free transfers then fine. Nobody was expecting big transfer fees anyway.

But instead it’s silence and come sit and tell us your ideas for a better “match day experience” so we can ignore them.

According to the EFL’s conditions of a transfer embargo, clubs are allowed up to 23 players who have played a professional game. They are also allowed to sign free transfers one year deals and sign players on loan. I can’t see this making much difference the the clubs current recruitment strategy too be fair.

Yeah. In practice – with the players we are looking at – it may not mean a great deal.
No way shall we pay big bucks and a tad improbable that we’d pay transfer fees either.

    Ask TW.

Hull City are under the same conditions.

It seems to mean very little, Hull have signed five players already with two on a season long loan. No player can be signed via a transfer fee, but that won’t worry Allam. That said, purely by serendipity, he’s played a very good hand in straitened times. 🐯

The embargo supposedly means you can only sign players on one years deals yet Millen signed up for two.

It was in June 2021 when clubs voted to allow the EFL to report the embargos, and the EFL did so on the 6th of July.

Swann has said that we’re only allowed to sign players on a “break even” basis.

Only 6 teams took up the loan, which tells you all you need to know really.

Swann signs our assets to coolsilk and couldn’t find anyway of funding needed to get us out of the hole he found ourselves in with lack of funding through covid and now we’re at a huge disadvantage.

What annoys me is, is that we’ve had to hear this from a 3rd party because the owner couldn’t be arsed to say anything.

This is what I was saying the other day about lack of communication and feeling like we’re seen as an annoyance.

And now he wants to set up some sort of field fans panel !

Strange because since the day of that 1st fans forum he said he would take no notice of any ideas because people would not be doing it to help the club just for what they could get out of it !!

To be fair it’s a load of rubbish. If he listened to other people “fans included” we wouldn’t be in this mess.

This is the bloke who had a direct hand in scouting and signing Turan and Jarvis.

How many times was he told Watson wasn’t good enough on Hullberside ?. Did he listen, no of cause he didn’t because he thought he knew best.

Fast forward 6 months and we signed Howard because from very early on it was crystal clear he wasn’t good enough.

Swann has this airy fairy messed up plan of going with youth when everybody else was telling him he need experienced to balance it out, again didn’t listen to a word anybody said and sign 3 experienced players doing one quickest u turns in the history of football.

This is the problem we have, he just doesn’t listen to anybody. It appears he can’t be arsed to keep fans in the loop on such major club announcements I don’t know why he’s suggesting this fans panel.

If he’s attempting to pull the wool over people’s eyes with offering more of a voice from the fans, people will see through the utter bullshit.

I guarantee you people will have been rolling their eyes when they read that about the fans panel.

    It’s farcical lol

Presumably when the loan is repaid then the embargo is lifted but it seems there is no need as we are signing OOC players on low wages. So when we’re on the fringes of the promotion race in January the loan will be repaid and the high profile signings needed to finish the job will be recruited.

There’s a small number on here that are taking it seriously. Beyond that I’m very sceptical about it being received without cynicism.

At least we all know why the contracts were pulled from our best players, swann knew then that he wouldnt have been within budget.
Does anyone know how muchh the loan is. Am only wondering as if its less than say £500k then he could easily have paid a little more for the land and not taken the loan off the efl, thus not putting us under an embargo this season.

I have been a Swann fan for most of his tenure but this is the final straw for me there was no need for this to happen. All the financial issues we currently find ourselves in is down to one man and because of him this will be our last season in the football league.

Well let’s hope he doesn’t listen to you WG, you tried to rewrite history by claiming we needed help on the last day of the season to get promoted under Wilcox. Ps. still waiting for you to admit you were wrong.

He didn’t pay anything for the land, he just swapped it for the debt.

Isn’t it great that we’re only going to spend what we can afford?

No more fans complaining that we’re signing players the club can’t afford like Toney, Yates, Madden, Wallace, Townsend, Holmes, Daniels, McArdle, Daniels, Clarke, KVV etc.

Looking forward to what the new sustainable model that many fans on here wanted brings.

    Bullshit 99.

When we used to be run by amateurs and lived within our means we had much better players than the ones you have listed.

I also notice an absence of current players in your superstar list.
