Back to match day again, this Saturday we have a difficult game away to in form Tranmere, what can we expect point wise, it will be a difficult place to expect a win for Scunny after having just lost to very poor Carlisle.
I am wondering how Keith will set up the team, will it be a Cox type system of defend and hope to hold out??, I know that our new manager doesn’t like that way of playing, but after throwing away 3 easy points last Saturday, does he go more defensive for this game, I hope not, simply because at the end of the day, we are playing a League Two team who can be beaten, and we cannot hope for the other five teams around us to keep losing.
I think we can get a 1-1 draw, I appreciate draws are not good when in our position, but it makes it hurt more because of last weeks defeat at home to a fellow bottom of the league team. It is looking even more so that Oldham are heading out of the league, and the Scunny win there was a very good 3 points, but with Oldham shipping so many home match goals in their last three games in a 5-5 draw, a Scunny 1-3 and mid-weeks 0-6 defeat to Wigan, thats 14 goals in three home matches!!!, so how good was our win.
We just must not lose at Tranmere.
January 6, 2022 at 4:44 pm #220742A point away from home is always a good result IMO, it’s the home games we need to win as I stated in other posts, to improve home attendances and give the fans something to cheer about which in turn motivates the team more and improves confidence.

January 6, 2022 at 8:02 pm #220766Don’t worry lads.
We’ve got Keith Hill and it’s January.
We’re saved.
Hill will be able to choose from one of the new signings Swanny has funded …what?
He hasn’t?
Oh well, non league it is then.January 6, 2022 at 11:27 pm #220774very confident for the Tranmere game … sorry to say thats confident in predicting looking at the current form we will get a pasting, interesting to see Sam Burns if included.
January 6, 2022 at 11:43 pm #220775Max Bell said in the Telegraph that it was too early to play Sam Burns, where does he get that from??
January 7, 2022 at 10:40 am #220788A point away in this game would be a great result, but we most start to get 3 points in home games if we are to have any chance of survival.
Our home form has been dreadful for 3 seasons now with to many sides taking points that were not really warranted, but if we can’t start hitting the net this will keep happening
January 7, 2022 at 2:17 pm #220807At !east Mark Duffy won’t come back to haunt us tomorrow at Tranmere, been released apparently although he only started three league games for them since August. 36 now rumours are he’s on his way to Macclesfield.

Where does he get all the other crap he writes ?
January 7, 2022 at 11:32 pm #220840After watching that ineffectual tosh last week against another bottom 4 side, I’m sorry BS, but I can’t see anything other than a defeat. I really hope I’m wrong, but for me, last week showed how poor we still are, despite the improvement under Hill. For the first time, I’ve really felt the cold chill of a potential relegation. We desperately need some significant signings if we are to have any chance of avoiding the dreaded trapdoor to non-league. Surely Swanny must see this??
January 8, 2022 at 9:39 am #220847This.
3-0 Tranmere.
January 8, 2022 at 9:44 am #220848Fe02, Swanny sees a building site followed by lots of money for him.

January 8, 2022 at 10:05 am #220854Got to admit Iron-Awe, I’m coming round to that way of thinking myself. On the car park proposed development, has anything actually started yet? I forgot to have a look before the Carlisle game.
If/when we get relegated, surely he’ll not see it worthwhile redeveloping the Sands Siro??
January 8, 2022 at 12:28 pm #220861Minimum expectation today:
Compete and play a bit of footballWould like:
We somehow fashion a point against a decent teamWould love:
We somehow manage another win – don’t care how but it would give the team a lot of confidence and set our fellow strugglers thinking. It would also be our first and probably only double of the season.UTI
January 8, 2022 at 2:26 pm #220869Have just seen the starting lineup, dear lord we’re in for a tonking. Thinking we’re all of a sudden Man City and going for zero strikers on the pitch!
January 8, 2022 at 2:28 pm #220870Looks a very lightweight starting XI today. Particularly in midfield, with Bunn up top on his own.
Can’t see any goals coming from our lads, or even getting into their box for a penalty.
Fearing the worst I’m afraid!
January 8, 2022 at 2:28 pm #220871Perhaps we will see the new boy come off the bench and score our winner?
Wishful thinking I know. But he is listed as a sub..
January 8, 2022 at 2:33 pm #220872Is Cox back?
January 8, 2022 at 3:29 pm #2208751-0 down against the best defence in the country with no strikers on the pitch. Can’t see it happening, cheers Rory for your polo hands.
January 8, 2022 at 3:38 pm #220876Anyone else feeling that 2-0 is incredibly harsh i feel like we have been the better team
January 8, 2022 at 3:42 pm #220878Individual errors costing us once again
This team needs help massively with some decent recruitment, too much responsibility on so many young shoulders!
Carry on like this and we are down!!
Stevenage currently smashing Walsall… soon we will run out of relegation competition. Thanks Peter

Really? We might have had our fair share of possession but I can’t recall a single decent chance being created.
Pugh and Gallimore have been awful in midfield. How are they keeping Beestin out of the team?

January 8, 2022 at 3:52 pm #220880Yes really tranmere have created absolutely nothing aswell. Two goals from outside the box. One a mistake by watson and one a mistake by gallimore
January 8, 2022 at 4:01 pm #220881Tom Neweys half time assesment sounded all too familiar, ” some nice patterns of play and plenty of effort, you can see they have been working hard on the training ground but absolutely nothing up front. How many saves has their keeper made, zero, that tells you everything “.
Sums up what we have all known for a while, we need goal scorers in the building and quick.1 user thanked author for this post.

Oh well, non league it is then. You keep quoting as if the business man doesn’t know what he’s doing but I think you’re well wide of the mark Alcazar, crowds dwindling to nowt, front gates padlocked shut and the press sitting up and taking note, then in comes Keith Hill. All of a sudden the focus is in a different place and all is rosy for the man at the top.
He’s 23 days to prove he cares about this football club, I wouldn’t hold your breath.3 users thanked author for this post.
January 8, 2022 at 5:06 pm #220886Unless there is some major recruiting (to be done ( which we are know there won’t be) then we are as good as down.
Got young kids stepping in to try and save the clubs football league status; hard to criticise but it’s a ruthless game and they should not be playing.
Trying to win a professional game with: no strikers on the pitch, a sub standard right mid/striker masquerading as a fullback and 2 academy graduates is just pathetic.
Carlisle are pulling away so we could soon be stranded after this month.
Cheers Peter

January 8, 2022 at 5:20 pm #220893I was one goal out.
January 8, 2022 at 5:28 pm #220897At least you were looking on the bright side. We are even worse than you think!

January 8, 2022 at 5:28 pm #220898Well it has just finished, and although it was not a 4-0 type of game, after saying that, the nil part of it was correct, because apart from a couple of scuffed shots, their keeper had a very easy afternoon, we do not have any forwards that look likely to score goals!!!!!
And why the hell do they keep taking these stupid bloody worthless short corners, O’Malley takes a great set piece cross, but now does not take them.WATSON—6—Poor with the first goal, but made a couple of good saves.
O’Malley–5—Was ok, but not used correctly.
TAFT—5–Very clumsey at times.
DAVIS—4—Not good enough today.
ROWE–6—Defended well.
GREEN–4–Has speed, but does not use it, terrible ball control and worse at passing.
HIPPOLYTE–6—Did ok and had a good first half.
PUGH—4—Had a very poor game and subbed at half time, not really league standard.
HACKNEY–6—Started very well and had a good first half, dackered second half.
GALLIMORE–6—Was ok, but a weak headed clearance for their first goal.
BUNN—6—Did his best, but wants some front player support.REF—8—OK and got most things correct.
MANAGER—6—Did what he can with a very average squad of players, he knows like everyone else that we need a goal scorer. My biggest problem is why does he not insist on O’Malley not taking set plays!!we are just wasting them with the present players taking them.
SUMMARY—-The team played well during the first half and should never have been 2-0 down, the Watson blunder for the first goal really changed the game, although we never troubled the Tranmere keeper, we did have a couple of near misses.
With other teams at the bottom of league two either winning or not playing, Scunthorpe are losing ground at the bottom, today was not our biggest problem, it was the three points that we gifted Carlisle in that home match last week was the sickener, but with our next game at Exeter, we have a good chance of being stranded at the bottom, with too big a gap to recover from. I must sat that the new lad looked really quick and is better than the players that we have been playing, but you cannot score goals sitting on the bench!!!January 8, 2022 at 5:30 pm #220900I was 2 out Alcy.
Not looking good for our survival chances now is it? We just haven’t got enough out there to keep us up. I’ve said elsewhere we don’t just need a good January, we need a miracle. Results went against us today, and with Exeter away next week (assuming a nil return there) we’re seeing a gap developing.
Swanny has said several times ‘we won’t be relegated’ and ‘I’ll do what it takes’. Well Peter, now is the time – PULL YOUR FINGER OUT AND DO IT….OR DO ONE!!3 users thanked author for this post.
