I had presumed over the last few years that boards like this, a pain to set up and cultivate were going to disappear. With the advent of easy social media groups ,like facebook ,in which anyone can set up a group instantly and the relatively simple access and viral ability to spread ,it was easy to see why facebook groups get large memberships, particularly when we have time of stress or great interest.
In our case I am genuinely shocked at how much credence our little site still gets ,I though many times over the years we’d have shut down

It’s by far the better of it, here. The Facebook group was ok for a quick bit of news and/or opinion – but it went absolutely toxic and has not truly recovered. The main culprit is all over it again, chirping, chipping in and polluting it. Ruined it, for me.

At least here you can say your piece and (usually) have a tidy debate.

This forum is pure gold for Iron fans, reasonably moderated even those of us who have had posts removed in the past in the main agree with the decision reached after a rethink. It can be too toxic on Facebook as has been mentioned and our own fans Facebook is a perfect example from poor one sided moderation and many fresh opinions on club matters howled down by the people running it. That’s not a democratic way of running a Facebook forum, this forum is a good example of one that is run properly. Look may you run Iron-bru.

I have always found the most annoying complaints involve a false equivalence or just someone who doesn’t see the other posts we remove therefore think we’re picking on them . Sadly some them post on the facebook group and continuing the lie. It’s OK I think in general we have a reasonably safe webspace here .It’s certainly hard deleting things you agree with but cannot find proof of ,we just get on with it, obvious examples are Hilton ad Swann .both of whom I dislike getting libel or potential about them removed ,some of which we were later able allow due to truths coming out

In fairness the Facebook group has at least become readable for the past few weeks- in the dying embers of the Hilton reign it really was toxic cesspit.

When moderated correctly, The anonymity of message boards does create decent discussion as it doesn’t often get personal and people can air their true opinions- none more so in recent months where a certain narrative could have resulted in personal attacks or worse

I prefer not knowing who you are and I find it odd that people want to know who I am.I think it helps in your security, mine is long gone though

I find on here, you can have quite an interesting debate. You might not agree with others and others might not agree with you but you are allowed to voice our opinion in our club without the threat of your post being removed, just as long as you stick to the rules (which to be honest shouldn’t be to hard).

On the Facebook site especially during the Hilton era, if your post didn’t suit that days narrative it was removed without warning, although I did think some of the posts were comedic and obviously taking the mic of the members of the Facebook group that took everything as gospel.

I think what owners/chairman(women) of football clubs and supporters of their regime don’t like is when faceless individuals critique the way they conduct their business and the way that they run the football club (they forget that just because their name is above the door, it doesn’t make it theirs. They are custodians and without the fans/supporters the football club would disappear). As long as that criticism is constructive, truthful and non-libellous then I don’t see the problem. Their problem is that they can’t bully that person into being quiet when they probably are used to that happening.

‘someone who doesn’t see the other posts we remove therefore think we’re picking on them’.

Think it’s always worth posters ŕemembering that there has indeed been many posts that have been deleted over time, that they have never seen, particularly during critical or controversial periods. By and large though, it’s a tiny proportion as far as I’m aware, and I think the majority of contributors are a credit to the forum.
