Tonight, Tonight, Tonight… ohh-ohh!
I never thought I’d be stating this:
Huge game tonight – Warrington v Tamworth.
Ya wot Rene?
Warrington v Tamworth.
Warrington drew 1-1 away at Blyth on Saturday. The Ref had a stinker, not awarding them a second penalty in the game.
Previous meetings:
FA Trophy Qualification (Nov 2017)
Warrington 3-0 Tamworth (replay)
Tamworth 2-2 Warrington
“Our (Tamworth) only previous visit to Warrington Town was for an FA Trophy replay in November 2017 and it ended in a 3 – 0 defeat.”
Record attendance: 2,550 v Bamber Bridge,Northern Premier League – Premier Division, Playoff final, 1 May 2023.
Warrington 1-0 Bamber.
This season is their first ever at NLN level.
Roger Hunt is their most famous player – though they were known as Stockton Heath then.
Roger Hunt (Wiki):
“He was signed for Liverpool by manager Phil Taylor in July 1958, joining from Stockton Heath.
Hunt made his debut and scored his first goal for the club on 9 September 1959 in a Second Division fixture at Anfield against SCUNTHORPE UNITED.”
Let’s hope that the ‘Wirepullers’ can fleece the ‘Lambs’ tonight and keep us in the ‘Hunt’ for that automatic promotion spot!

NLN Team of the Week
GK – Dan Atherton (Warrington)
CM – Tom Tonks (Tamworth)
All the best to Dan; and Tom, I hope that you have a stinker!
Our Mr Elliott also made the team.

9 games to choose from on National League TV tonight.
The pass also covers tomorrow’s NL game between Chesterfield & Gateshead.
I think I’ll spend the tenner – as some of the fee comes back to SUFC anyway.
It’s good VFM.

Might cheer Warrington on tonight from the sofa.
Middlesbrough vs Chelsea reserves not that appealing.

I’m going to be doing the same.
Then tomorrow, I’ll have a look at Chesterfield. Be interesting to compare them with last season’s Wrexham & County.
