Before we get the abuse for fielding an under strength team today in an important game – you need to realise we really are that crap with a n owner who has tried to destroy the club for the last four years ( explaining his hiring of our current manager) .The majority of the kids who played today actually want to play for the club unlike the wage thieves who started most games this season but at the moment just aren’t good or experienced enough – it is just bad luck that Bristol got to play us today….

” .The majority of the kids who played today actually want to play for the club unlike the wage thieves who started most games this season but at the moment just aren’t good or experienced enough”

I’ll put on my tin hat before I say that IMO few, if any of them, will ever be good enough unless it’s in NLN. They lack the basic skill of being able to pass to a member of their own team.

Agreed, under normal circumstances, most of them would never get near playing in a league 2 football match

    Sorry Northampton

We did the business today and deserved promotion. Respect to the Irons, a proper club unlike FGR, Harrogate, Crawley, Stevenage etc. I wish you all every success next season

    Respect from Bristol Rovers

Gotta feel for the Cobblers fans a tad this morning … for Scunny to ship 7 with such a young inexperienced line up may arouse the attentions of the FA and an investigation..

Could Northampton put in a claim maybe a points deduction next season ???

A fitting end to the season and sums up just how pathetic the club has become.

Northampton where 3-1 up at halftime so why did they settle on that score instead of going for more, also they could only manage a draw here a few weeks ago, Wigan did the same to us putting a reserve team out against Barnsley, the EFL should bring a fair play rule saying when the match is important like yesterdays was the opponents have to field their strongest side then there is no argument, we had experience on the bench and have loanees not involved, I feel sorry for Northampton because we would still have lost but maybe by that score line.

To all Northampton fans, you are in the playoffs so not getting automatic promotion is the chance to prove you are good enough to go up after all. So you missed out yesterday, big deal, I’m sure you will get behind your team and cheer them on to success at Wembley in the near future. Ignore all the bullshit from those on here bleating their apologies about our team yesterday, we have been disintegrating as a football club, not just a team, for the last four seasons, yesterday you were on the receiving end of a culmination of events that has been coming for a long time. Go out, win the playoffs and enjoy your promotion. Best of luck.

    Gashead here.

Sorry for you guys that you’ve gone down like you did yesterday at the hands of our team.

Every Scunthorpe supporter I’ve met has been decent and I was disappointed to see you guys get relegated.

Gasheads know what dropping out of the FL feels like and luckily for us we bounced up at the first attempt.

I hope you can get your ownership situation sorted and bounce back into the league rapidly.

You’re a proper club with proper supporters.

We DIDN’T field a weakened team.

    We’re shite in all departments.

As MM says, The Gas smelled blood and went in for the kill. The Cobblers sat on a 3-1 scoreline.

As they say up here “shy bairns get nowt!”

Northampton manager acted with dignity in his post match comments yesterday, just praised. Barrow for fielding a full strength team and said how important it was to do that, hope he reflects today and gives us a right going over. We all knew that result was on the cards, yesterday Cass highlighted it in the Foster post, then Hill puts that side out with a debutant and an 18 year old captain. What f ing planet is he on.

Bristol Rovers scored 4 at Rochdale last week.
With a full house at home and up against a weak Scunny team ,to get 7 wasn’t unexpected.

It was no surprise at all. Northampton should have seen the team we put out and realised they would need a big win themselves.

Four of the starting 11 started the season as YTs which says it all.

There was no significant difference between the side that played yesterday and the make up of our sides over the last 2 months.

Rovers scored 7, but even had they needed more I’m fairly certain they’d have got them.

The only difference between yesterday and other games was that Rovers had to go for broke, where in previous games where we have shipped 3 or 4, sides have taken their foot off the throttle when the result was beyond doubt.

So, I don’t really see how Northampton can complain about somehow being robbed of promotion by the worst side in the league. What did they think was going to happen yesterday at Rovers?

Yesterday was the final humiliation though of an awful season. I was embarrassed to be there.

The club has been totally ruined by Swann but a few of the players out on the field need to hold their hands up as well.

I don’t know where they wanted to be yesterday but it certainly wasn’t out there playing for us.

As professional ‘athletes’ some of them should feel totally ashamed.

APB, I think it’s the players sat at home who need to hold their hands up! Majority of those out there yesterday aren’t ready but are having to play due to the ‘culture’ Hill alluded to in his interview.

I have sympathy for some of the young players out there who clearly aren’t ready and must be getting scarred by the experience.

I have less sympathy for the likes of Nuttal though who is half hearted at best and for a big strong looking player seems unusually reluctant to even physically engage to any meaningful extent.

The experienced players that came off the bench in the end did nothing to stem the tide.

If anything, when they came on we somehow managed to deteriorate further!

“Speaking to BBC Humberside, Hill accused his players of a lack of professionalism, including turning up late”

The team that could have played yesterday:-
Watson – player of the year
    Matheson – KH choice
Rowe – “He’ll always play for me”
    Delaney – KH choice
    Feeney – KH chouce
    Grant – KH choice
Beestin – new 2 year contract
Bunn – “He’s an exceptional professional, and he’s someone I’ve got a lot of time for because he’s the right type of character and person. He can guide the young players and I’m really pleased for him.”
    Sinclair – KH choice
    Pyke – KH choice
    Nuttall – KH choice

Would suggest that Hill’s recruitment is open to question.

    Totally agree Cass.

So who are these players that set the terrible culture?

We can probably let KDT off the hook because he only appears twice a year.

We can ignore Hallam unless he spreads negativity from the physios table.

Am assuming the youngsters are exempt.

Leaves us with Taft, Millen, Perry and Jarvis unless I have forgotten someone. To be fair we have had a lot of forgettable players these last 4 years.

As for responsibility for the culture – if it’s not the manager or the owners fault the who the feck is responsible?

Look at the array of LATE January signings in that list.

On a different tack – I can’t really see why Matheson was so ordinary when he arrived and yet has recently soared up to the dizzy heights of average.

    Do we still want Delaney?
    Would we take Sinclair?
Would Delaney and Taft have let seven in?

Any hints when retained list will be announced?

“So who are these players that set the terrible culture?”

Could also include Kenyon, Davis, Manny, Hackney, Wood and some Hill recruits that have changed their attitude since working with him previously.

If the Cobblers want to know why they didn’t get promoted they should look to their away match at Scunthorpe.

The only half decent side in the division who looked as if they thought they only had to turn up to get the 3 points.

Consequently they dropped 2 points. The rest of the top 7 got their regulation 6 points from us.

    Totally agree Cass.

So who are these players that set the terrible culture?

Didn’t Jem Karacan have something to say about this?

If so then it was prevalent before most of those listed above arrived.

It can’t be just the players.

Was it this season Harrogate put 6 ( Six ) past The Iron with a ‘ full strength ‘ Iron team out ?

Did I hear on the Radio Bristol Rovers have a good home record and are on a bit of a run ?

It is clear the culture is absolutely toxic and a number of players have seen it as an opportunity to take the piss.

Karacan, Cox and now Hill have all questioned the professionalism of certain players, but worryingly we are now a year on from the interview with Jem and absolutely nothing has changed!

Some of the things I have heard you wouldn’t believe and these probably only scratch the surface as to what is actually happening down there.

I also understand one of the players listed in the thread above has already gone. I don’t use the term wage thief lightly but we’ve certainly had a few of late!

I’m afraid the toxic culture at club has been set by those in charge and will only change under new ownership

Do you honestly believe that ‘professional’ football players care who the owner is aslong as they get paid every week? The culture comes from within the group on the training pitch and let’s be honest some of the problem is they just aren’t good enough ability wise, mentality wise etc.

Hill needs to bring in players he wants who will set standards and be a good influence on and off the training pitch.
