Venturing into non-league, on the cusp of new ownership (we hope) with a new squad for next season (again we hope) could be it be wise for a new brand for SUFC. Out with the current badge, in with a new one that included Refulget labores nostros coelum (The heavens reflect our labours) and the steelworks in the background. Revert back to the name Glanford Park (okay not new but better than the SVS) and have a permanent green away kit in homage to the fantastic Irish Iron.
We need a fresh start, a reboot, and a new brand could be a driver for this.
Admittedly Scunthorpe City Tigers does have a certain ring to it… ;)

May 5, 2022 at 3:26 pm #236756May 5, 2022 at 3:42 pm #236757The current badge is fine.
Does anyone call the ground anything other than Glanford Park?

May 5, 2022 at 3:48 pm #236759Can’t revert to GP, sponsorship money for naming rights will be essential for finances.
Wharton Wharf?
Britcon Ground?
Waltham Park?
Botham Stadium?
SVS for another 2 years?1 user thanked author for this post.
May 5, 2022 at 3:59 pm #236760Didn’t Swann extend the stadium sponsorship for a further 10 years?
May 5, 2022 at 4:44 pm #23676310 years? Imagine being named after a failed venture that closed many years ago.
How about Henry Afrikas Park
Ratners Arena?1 user thanked author for this post.
May 5, 2022 at 5:17 pm #236765The badge on the vintage replica shirts would be good

May 5, 2022 at 6:08 pm #236769Coat of Arms of the Borough of Scunthorpe (1936-1974) which doesn’t exist any more than Glanford Borough Council (1974-1996).
Given a choice I’d go for an updated version of the old, circular Unity badge.
No whacky fadeaway shirts, no kits that look like Primark leisure wear.
Let’s at least try to go out looking like footballers next year.

May 5, 2022 at 6:37 pm #236774We certainly haven’t looked much like footballers these last 4 seasons NI but I don’t think it’s the kit to blame though.
That aside it would be nice to turn out in a proper kit with a version of the unity badge. This is probably more appropriate than it ever has been if we are to recover from the hole we find ourselves in.
May 5, 2022 at 7:27 pm #236778Changing shirts is easy, changing badges a lot more controversial as Grimsby found out, changing the badge after all the little codlings had got a new shirt 7 days earlier for Xmas. Some on here said Grimsby would be model club to follow.
May 6, 2022 at 8:00 am #236797Mr Swann said that the 10 year sponsorship deal was to cover the EFL loan. As in the annual payment for naming rights would cover the repayment terms of the loan.
So before we all get too excited we need to know that the EFL loan is either repaid, or covered another way.
Otherwise that will be a future debt on the Iron.
Time to seize the moment and rename as The New Showground.

May 6, 2022 at 4:24 pm #236819I’m not up for changing our team badge, much less our colours. We do need to work on our image. For too long we have been a stop off point for journey men who need fitness then move on. Also our “chairman” let a full team of professionals come to the end of their contracts and move on for nothing. Had they retained even a handful of them we would not be in this mess.
Once we are free of Mr Wilko things will improve, of this I am sure.

May 6, 2022 at 6:15 pm #236825Those who like the current badge, why do we have to show an unfinished steel section. Perhaps now a rail featured badge would be more appropriate !!

May 7, 2022 at 8:27 am #236835Tigers are for the North Bank, like the idea of a retro1950’s/60’s kit.
Never call it anything but Glanford Park.
I see a Phoenix club inside three years.May 7, 2022 at 10:03 am #236845£10 entry?
Good luck with that. Most NL clubs charge twice as much.
