Who gains from today's Budget tax-cutting measures? pic.twitter.com/xOAnWQu1Zp

I am sure we will hear the same waffle about growth feeding the economy to the benefit for us all from the apologists, but outside of an ideological bubble, that just will not happen.

That’s tuppence a day! Back to Dickensian Britain or what?
Like Rachel Reeves’s comment: “The Conservatives can’t solve the cost of living crisis, the Conservatives ARE the cost of living crisis.”
Good job booze isn’t going up, we’re going to need a lot of it!

And, ‘one last throw of the dice’. Let’s hope it is and these shysters and chancers are sent packing

September 23, 2022 at 7:21 pm #245385Rees Mogg on Newsnight this week. Speaks total crap, can’t be arsed to defend his Party and treats any questioner and the public with utter contempt. Bloke’s simply a fascist. Victoria Derbyshire barely challenged him either – another waste of space.

September 23, 2022 at 7:31 pm #245387like all etonians,he talks crap but with an air of authority .It’s how they are taught to behave in their elite schools, remember how David Cameron would just lie and repeat it constanly until it became gospel. The pity is that The political bubble in Westminster lap it up and working class morons believe it
They play at being intelligent by learning to quote classical greek mythology or a few latin lines, it’s not that they are clever , it’s that they go to the only schools that teach it.1 user thanked author for this post.

September 23, 2022 at 8:14 pm #245393I rarely watch it nowadays tbh, it appears to have become too influenced by Tory bullies. Same for Today and pm. Shame. Hopefully when these parasites have gone BBC news can become a bit more balanced again.

Fans 64 also expressed the same view about the BBC being “right wing leading.”
I nearly spluttered out my tea!
Take a look at the front page of BBC NEWS. The newspaper headlines half way down, take a look at the BBC “take” on the mini budget -“A BUDGET FOR THE RICH”is there choice of headline. Only the ultra left wing leaning GUARDIAN has THIS conclusion of the budget. All the right wing leaning papers have time to start moving, great boost and other such “Tory conclusions to the budget.
Yet some on here think the BBC is a Tory, right wing thinking organisation- I will make sure I don’t have a cup of tea in my hand when reading laughable comments about the BBC being right wing, next time!September 24, 2022 at 9:26 am #245414I note you don’t mention that the BBC used quotation marks, because they were quoting the Guardian, not because it was their own choice of headline. It was in a page talking about media reaction. Fuss over nothing from someone who want to demonise anything which isn’t remotely right wing, as is evident with your comments against anything which doesn’t see this as being some great news for the economy.
Meanwhile, the pound plummets and adherents have nothing to back up their opinions. Just that anyone criticising must be some evil lefty. Such is the vacuum of their argument.

September 24, 2022 at 9:51 am #245422‘A budget for the rich’? Absolutely. Please explain how those earning a million a year will have £54,400 extra in their pockets whilst those earning £25,000 will only have about £280? I won’t hold my breath.
As for what the massive majority of right wing press are saying; well what’s your point? What does that prove about the BBC, apart from it’s news division still has some degree of impartialty and hasn’t gone completely blue?
Your last claim about some on here ‘thinking the BBC is a right wing Tory thinking organisation’ is nonsense. No one has said such. No need to make things up. Facts are facts though, it’s been well documented by right and left about how much pressure Tory ministers are putting the news division under to ease off the government.
If you dealt more in facts and reality than propaganda and hyperbole bpg, I’m not sure what would be left in your posts.
September 24, 2022 at 9:56 am #245423The point is the “right wing” 🤣 BBC would have not have used an ultra left wing headline in the article if they were in the clutches of the Tories. They as you rightly say quoting from the Guardian – they would probably have preferred a headline from the Morning Star!!😀
September 24, 2022 at 9:57 am #245424That didn’t seem to be your point; you specifically said it was the BBC’s headline, and was akin to the Guardian’s. Hence you weren’t saying they were wrong to highlight another headline, you thought it was their own.
No, they were quoting a media source to highlight a media reaction. They have done the same with right wing rags in the past. The fact you think the BBC would prefer the Morning Star shows how deluded you are on this.
September 24, 2022 at 9:59 am #245425An ‘ultra left wing headline’?? What because they dared question government fiscal policy? That planet you’re on; what’s it called? Because it ain’t Earth pal!
September 24, 2022 at 10:06 am #245426I’m pretty sure other posters on here have only said the BBC has become more influenced by Tory pressure in recent years, not that they are ‘in the clutches of the Tories’, which would appear much more extreme. I don’t doubt for a second many in the Party wouldn’t welcome that but we’re not quite at the level of Russia yet.
September 24, 2022 at 10:08 am #245427Many Tory backbenchers didn’t seem happy with the plan yesterday. No doubt they’re all part of the neo-Marxists BPG keeps warning us about. It’s handy when anyone who disagrees with you isn’t someone behaving in good faith, but an evil conspirator.
September 24, 2022 at 10:25 am #245433The Beeb used to be a champion of the middle ground. “Nation Shall Speak Peace Unto Nation” was their motto.
But over the past couple of years it has definitely moved to the right. Everyone I talk to says the same. And it you want proof watch ITN or C4 for comparison.
September 24, 2022 at 11:02 am #245438I think they are worried about the noises the Tories have been making about the licence fee and the future of the corporation. It’s yet another attempt to silence criticism, no matter how objective.

September 25, 2022 at 10:29 am #245525So following the tax cuts announcement that favours the rich, the pound slumped more than 3% against the dollar to levels last seen 37 years ago and the cost of government borrowing suffered its biggest one-day rise since 1991. When markets reopen on Monday, some economists believe the Bank of England could be forced to hold an emergency meeting to consider further interest rates rises to prevent a rout. Add to this, Tories still 5% behind Labour in new opinion polls and the propaganda of the right wing press in those headlines is even more apparent
September 25, 2022 at 10:35 am #245527If you’re more worried about a BBC headline than what the scumag government are doing,I doubt your Christianity is so strong and even true

September 25, 2022 at 11:23 am #245534Are yes Dennis Moore famously gave the poor lupins rather then money after stealing from the rich, don’t put anymore ideas into the head of Truss FFS, she just might run with that one too.
