Just heard the firework go off in West cliff and local folklore suggests that’s the signal to say the drug are in. So hopefully this board will go quiet while the crack heads such as Awaywego and Les go get their soothers.Sacking a manager and decent guy in his 1st season by November at the top of the league is space cadet stuff
November 16, 2024 at 7:37 pm #294012Agree that sacking Butler isn’t going to happen but 3 wins in 14 in what is without the doubt one of the worst leagues for fans to watch professional football in. Something has to change and doing the same thing over and over funnily enough isn’t working. He needs a midfielder needs a formation change

November 16, 2024 at 7:40 pm #294013It’s poor form but we can’t just sack him ,it’s rudvulous
November 16, 2024 at 7:52 pm #294016Top of the league you say!
November 16, 2024 at 9:31 pm #294037Great bants…. will he get Lawsy in as a motivator/advisor?!

Meanwhile in the Southern Premier League Central, that’s no easier with a bag(literally) of money!
November 16, 2024 at 10:18 pm #294046He needs a midfielder needs a formation change
We all know what he needs, but he seemingly doesn’t want change nor thinks he needs it. As said before, he’ll field this formation until he’s fired.

November 17, 2024 at 12:12 am #294050Making jokes about board users being drug users seems a bit much. Though I am less keen on stating where forum users may live.
November 17, 2024 at 7:06 am #294054Actually, I am a pretty heavy drug user. I can supply a list of what is currently keeping me alive if anyone is desperate enough to want the facts.

November 17, 2024 at 8:45 am #294065Let’s take a step back and view the big picture.
Manager has won 3 games out of 14.
Manager has been losing very regularly to totally inferior opposition – teams cobbled together with: part-timers, ultra low budgets and many with an extremely low fan base etc.
Manager demonstrably struggling to get the best out of what is a decentish squad.
Manager inevitably facing rumours that he has ‘lost the dressing room’.
Manager’s claims that our superior fitness would give us an edge have proved not to be the actual reality.
Manager is overseeing a side whose passing is frequently woeful and which creates space for the opposition.
Manager and a clear majority of fans not in any accord over: the system being played; defending slender leads; on-field positions being filled with ‘unsuitable picks’ etc.
Manager believes that his side has ‘balance’ – most fans apparently do not.
Manager’s weekly rhetoric is oft repeated and fans appear less than convinced.
Manager had a superb start and expected that to continue – most fans were able to spot the weaknesses and did not.
I could go on.
There is a terrible irony here for AB. When (not if) the sacking comes – some lucky manager is going to breeze in and find that he has many good players who only need organising within a system that they like and fully understand to see a huge upturn in fortunes on the pitch.
Even now, at the eleventh hour, AB could rescue himself from the above. All he has to do is show some flexibility.
In my life, I have worked for leaders WITH flexibility and those WITHOUT.
Guess which types create the most success!10 users thanked author for this post.
November 17, 2024 at 8:58 am #294068Stan (Butler) needs a smack around the head… it may make him see sense and change formation?
Can you stay off what you’re on pulling up 17 threads every time we lose?

November 17, 2024 at 8:59 am #294069November 17, 2024 at 11:08 am #294102Twas years ago that 64 posted where he lived, so I guess he’s happy for everyone else to know, end of the day it’s probably him who’s running the drugs in our area and just got a crafty little advert in for them with his thread.
Nice thread for what a moderator though, Who moderates the moderators!1 user thanked author for this post.

Same here les, where would the over sixties be without ramipril, lansoprazole and statins?, well probably not attending Iron games, lol.

You sure about that Les? The players not part of the problem then?
November 17, 2024 at 1:26 pm #294144The players who began the season looked the part, Deerey. It probably all hangs on the fact that ‘we wuz sussed’.
So, yes. Pretty sure.1 user thanked author for this post.
November 17, 2024 at 1:43 pm #294146Not really buying that. You and a few others were never impressed, even when we were getting results at the start of the season.
November 17, 2024 at 1:45 pm #294148I think there’s a bigger problem than this obsession with Butler and formations and I think the players by and large are integral to that.
November 17, 2024 at 2:12 pm #294153If by that you mean certain players don’t want to be here DM then I would say just clear off then, they signed a contract, they knew who was the manager, they are meant to be professional, so just act like professionals then.

That’s not what I meant. I meant many just aren’t good enough. Perhaps Butler got the best out of them he could earlier in the season. A formation change may improve performances but it probably won’t cut out the defensive errors that have crept in, nor the poor passing.
November 17, 2024 at 4:37 pm #294167I still think the 3 CBs causes the problem if the 3 are not experienced in the system. 3 CBs marking 2 forwards allows for the “one of the others will mark him” option often leading to unmarked opponents left to score. Sound familiar?

November 17, 2024 at 5:01 pm #294169Oh, I definitely agree with 3 CB over egging. Unnecessary and takes a much needed place in midfield. Just think there’s more to it than formations and Butler.
November 17, 2024 at 5:09 pm #294170Laws Robins Alexander McAll all tried 3-5-2 (maybe even more managers) and they almost always produced turgid football, not pretty and very frustrating, some of these managers had very good players at their disposal. We should have enough quality to play decent under 442

November 17, 2024 at 5:46 pm #294173Fitzsimons
Barrows Maxi Boyce Kelly
Roberts Brogan Beestin Carlton
Whitehall Beck (up to Williams to displace Beestin, Whitehall or Beck)
Would do for me, still plenty for a decent bench as well.1 user thanked author for this post.
November 18, 2024 at 9:05 am #294222That’s the defence which will surely work better than the others, Cass.
Denton however, was better than Kelly last year. In a changed setup – he may still prove to be the excellent LB we witnessed last season.1 user thanked author for this post.

November 18, 2024 at 9:55 am #294233And therein lies the problem IFA, or at least part of it IMO. A “must pick” captain with a one dimensional game that’s too slow for the way AB says he wants to play.

November 18, 2024 at 10:43 am #294235We have seen some terrific football from Clunan – but most of it was in the opening months of last season.
He had a bit of a rally in the latter stages of last season as well.November 18, 2024 at 10:52 am #294238Kind of the point I’ve been making about questioning if the players are good enough? Most the squad is the same lot from last season who couldn’t get promoted under non league Pep’s genius tactics.
