I stopped watching the tip tap football at Glanford Park ,like watching a game of chess.
Even though we were playing a very good team tonight ,I think we are in for a completely new exciting style of football.
It may take time and defeats are expected in the near future but I’m jumping onboard the Jimmy Dean roadshow.
Count me in- the second “golden era” is about to begin.

Based on a lowly non-league record, Bill?
The guy probably has the nous to make it work – but there were few things to applaud last night.
Big CF looked better than Nuttall.
    LB was patchy.
To be fair, that match would surely have been a draw against a good side with Rory between the sticks.

    The games moved on.
Even Wimbledon back in the day had some very good players.

Funny about differing opinions…. I thought Leake at LB looked a very good player, his long throw is better than Ogle’s, he was clearly nervous after his yellow card. I thought big Gerry up top started well but then let himself get bullied by their centre backs who were shorter and lighter than him… We’ve already got too many coaches but Torps could work wonders with him. I thought Barnet were generally mediocre and with some good training time we’ll be a lot better. Generally disjointed last night which should have been expected with all the changes… People’s expectations are way too high.

I don’t know what’s more ridiculous. Those writing Dean off after one game or bpg declaring him the messiah after a rubbish performance after some previous improvements.

Eh? When did we declare that Rory Watson was some saviour who would get us a point? He didn’t often manage to in games last season, even if it wasn’t because of him that we lost games.

Think young Foster has to hold his hand up for the third goal, yeah he should have done better but he’s a kid whose learning as he goes, you will get two good games and a bad one from him that’s how it is with young players. The whole defence was at fault with that stupid first goal, complete brain switch off from the lot of them. The third was deflected so no blame on the keeper for me but the defending was very poor in allowing the guy time to get his shot away. I said we needed an experienced keeper for at least back up and I’ve not changed my view after last night.

Genuinely haven’t seen anyone writing off Dean already. If so, I agree, ridiculous!

I think we know where his priorities lie regarding tactics. He had 5 midfielders in the starting 11 and another 5 on the bench. Seemed strange when the midfield was bypassed most of the time. All that and he still managed to avoid giving the best of them (IMO) a kick!

We have Renee and ironmaster1 on the other thread hypothesising about him losing the dressing room and being the wrong manager already.

I am not saying we weren’t. I have said that to discount the other polar view offered by bpg that Dean has us playing an exciting style which we can all look forward to. Though in another thread we already have opinions on him being the wrong manager. It’s all a bit soon for that, I feel.

I was talking to someone about leaving early, last night and he reminded me of that game against Orient all those years ago. In the modern game David Harley would have been lambasted by his manager for not turning round and giving the ball to his goalkeeper to keep possession, instead of hammering it fully fourty yards straight into the back of the net.
