Interested Bystander is not, as popularly believed, Will Swann. He is older than Will I believe but well connected to Peter Swann (the “interested” part of the “bystander”.

    3) Glanford Park – How does the club regain ownership of the stadium? For me, Peter Swann owes you one. Swann and his advisors have dropped a massive one here, he knows it and I feel it’s only right that he takes a haircut, for the right people. The local council need to play a part, whether through the direct purchase of the stadium or to provide a mortgage facility for the club to purchase it, but none of this will happen with Hilton in situ. The Iron Trust, the local council, some of the existing board members and other local business people need to meet and get this deal done.

This post is true albeit with a slight pro-Swann bias. It’s silent on the promises made when Swann acquired the land, and
Swann would need to take a haircut anyway (land value, current market conditions). There’s a not-demolished stadium sitting on the land, question marks over whether permission would be granted, and expected higher-than-average construction costs. Swann has more than just altruism pushing him to sell the land to SUFC in whatever guise.

Swann will want to minimise his haircut. He doesn’t want a bald patch to show.

Swann won’t be altruistic, but if Interested Bystander is right (and he usually is, given his access to the horse’s mouth), Swann may be realistic.

I wonder about the offer made by Simon Elliott and others before Hilton got the nod. If that’s still on the table, times have changed….

Alleged true , accurate or incorrect and pure guesswork who knows …. but from the early days of his Bru postings i have been of the mind that POSSIBLY IB is connected to Swan in some capacity.

I am so fed up with all the recent events basically since Swans reign and then DH took over.

I dont give a rats arse how its done but SUFC must survive for the sake of the town, the real fans for which it holds so many historical memories and for now plus future generations.

The businessman I spoke of on another thread who possessed a moderate degree of optimism for our situation spoke on these very lines, Jasper.

If I knew or had access to Peter Swann or any individual connected to him, do you really think he would have entertained Hilton after I had finished? Perhaps he is the type of person to ignore advice, but you’ve made the mistake in thinking that I’m the type of person to hang about where my advice is ignored.

As for me usually being right, that’s thanks to a long career and a nose for these things, not because of any horse’s mouth.

There’s no reason to suspect IB has any connection whatsoever with Swann. All he’s ever done is presented facts.

‘As popularly believed…Will Swann’. What a load of conspiratorial nonsense.

A few posters have insinuated it. No more than that.

Swann connection more likely to be II/IE based on postings I’d suggest.

I wouldn’t say a post making allegations about a poster’s links is as important as those about games or the current off-field issues.

People make this big deal as to who IB is, but I don’t see why it’s of major importance. He says he is a fan of another club who experienced hardship and is now interested in other clubs being run well. That may be true, but he takes a large interest which would be unsurprising if he was someone who had previous dealings with Hilton and got burned. Ultimately, I don’t think it matters too much, because what matters is the content and the content he has shared has had a lot of truth in it and this has proven useful in being able to ascertain what kind of character Hilton is. Which is important, since he is the owner of our club and that comes with huge responsibility. I am not a fan of overly secretive handling of club matters; I understand that not everything can be out in the open, but there are some things which I would like to know to have trust. We don’t know Hilton’s wealth or his source for it, for example, and IB’s work has revealed concerns there. I can only see faith in such as blind faith at present, and ignoring it will only cause the problem to go potentially undetected until it’s too late.

All this talk of IB being a Swann associate is mere rumour, but it will be interesting to see if those suspicious of rumours about Hilton (not talking specifically about on here) will just take this at face value.

Lot of people I speak too think he should be connected to a rope, harsh maybe but people get cranky when something they hold dear is being slowly strangled out of existence.

I don’t understand the recent fascination with trying to reveal posters identities or possible connections tbh. Always seems a bit desperate and tin hatted. I’d rather look at the content being presented and judge that.

They can’t refute it and they want to believe in Hilton, so anyone sceptical (especially outsiders, like IB) have to be discredited. For some. Others will be naturally wondering why they are so involved.

Incredible what people are prepared to accept if it means success on the pitch I-A Newcastle is a clear example of that.

But as I said on another thread, you don’t know who is presenting facts and who is spreading rumours!

That’s why I don’t post as often as I used to. Getting sick of the 4/5 page threads full of ifs, whats and maybes.

You don’t always know NI, agreed. I can only tell you I’ve checked the stuff IB has presented previously and followed the links and nothing presented wasn’t factual. It hasn’t been pretty reading but I’d rather know than not know. Appreciate its not for everyone.
