I recall one of the main reasons for the land being transferred to Coolsilk, was the favourable lending terms that Coolsilk could attract for the development of the apartments and the redevelopment of the ground.
With nothing happening on that front and Swann openly stating they are open to offers for the club,
Can we have the ground back now Peter ?

February 6, 2022 at 6:44 pm #231564Let him keep it.
When he runs away at the end of this season he’ll have to rent it us for peanuts due to the state he’s let it get into…or do some renovations that he’s failed to do for years😄😄😄1 user thanked author for this post.
February 7, 2022 at 9:01 am #231584I’ve not been paying attention, when is the new ground going to be finished?

Topics: 11Yes all is rosy at Gainsborough Trinity, 17th in the Northern Premier League is some achievement. That’ll really show the Swanns.

February 16, 2022 at 8:27 pm #232114Not far off where they were when Mr Swann walked away.
He did leave them with a new ground though.
Oh hang on a minute.

Swann was shown to be a mouthy pratt there, and a braggart here.
not much difference.
He never took their ground though.2 users thanked author for this post.

Will they ever happen ?
The Hotel in Blackpool is months if not years behind schedule no doubt with ever rising costs and still not finished.February 17, 2022 at 1:19 am #232123Swann was shown to be a mouthy pratt there, and a braggart here.

He tried to relocate Trinity, but the Blues Club (supporters’ association) owned (own) the pitch and wouldn’t go along with his plans, so he left the club ‘debt free’ but with an unsustainable wage bill that arguably ultimately led to the first relegation in their 100+ year history.
A similar arrangement exists at Chelsea, where Abramovich owns everything at Stamford Bridge except the pitch, which is owned by 13000+ fans via the Chelsea Pitch Owners’ plc.

UTI, Can you please name ONE THING, JUST ONE, that the fantastic Mr Swann has improved either on or off the pitch during his tenure, come on it really can’t be that hard considering the fantastic businessman he is and how we should be all so grateful to him?

February 17, 2022 at 7:29 am #232126Healthy club with engaged fans ,seems better than what we have.
We have no ground, club in debt ,transfer embargo and about to drop out of the league for the 1st time in our history.
I’d say trinity fans have more to smile about14 users thanked author for this post.

February 17, 2022 at 9:20 am #232130Read hundreds of your posts and they all make pretty much the same point.
Still don’t agree with you though.

February 17, 2022 at 9:37 am #232131Still not answering questions though. Have a read of Pat’s post above and then show some courtesy and reply. A simple “nothing” will do.

Instead of telling others to read your posts again, why not read theirs and respond to their questions?
It really isn’t all about you, you know.

February 17, 2022 at 10:53 am #232144Swanny acquired the land next to the stadium and turned it into the training ground, there’s your answer Pat, how many other teams have the luxury of training facility that close to the ground with the gym and physio less than 100 meters away, so I think we can all agree that is one improvement that Swann has made.
February 17, 2022 at 11:17 am #232145Swanny acquired the land next to the stadium and turned it into the training ground
Did that land not already belong to the club?

Yes it did Ferrite. So what he has actually done is put some goals on it and call it a training ground….fabulous.

February 17, 2022 at 11:56 am #232148I think it’s an all weather pitch now isn’t it? Rather than the old boggy field. Under Wharton, the club trained down at Gunness most of the time, I think?
February 17, 2022 at 12:02 pm #232149No the land didn’t already belong to the club, oh what a missed opportunity all that land the owners at that time could have bought and leased it out for all the retail outlets that are there now, even the land the other side of the road where Tesco’s is was up for grabs that would have kept the club going with all that rental potential. I do like your simplistic view how to make a training ground though Pat, we just use to use 4 jumpers and heho you had a football pitch, can’t believe swanny spoils them so much.

I agree with you on that but I think the training ground land you’re talking about is the plot between the offices & the M181? In which case, wasn’t that already part of the clubs’ estate and used for training when the pitch was suitable?

February 17, 2022 at 2:54 pm #232158The training ground at Gunness was much bigger then the current one and within a month or so of Prawn assuming control of SUFC, Mr Wharton had the old training pitches ploughed up and drilled with oilseed rape. That’s the difference between an astute businessman who turns a valuable asset into profit making capability a.s.a.p and someone who pretends he’s astute but isn’t.

February 17, 2022 at 3:50 pm #232161One thing that as improved is the time it takes to get out of the car park at the end of games. Used to sometimes take about an hour not anymore with so few attending games. Well done Mr ?.

Is that because all pedestrians are funnelled into a narrow footpath by barriers giving priority for a handful of cars coming from the premium parking spaces?

February 17, 2022 at 6:49 pm #232170The need for a footpath barrier is dwindling.
