The Difference is Shocking

Due to my geographical location, the the local non-league club’s engagement with their local schools and community my 10 year old daughter is now a full fledged supporter of York City! As such, I’ve been to a couple of matches last season, and was at last nights friendly with Boro. Despite us playing in the same division as York in the coming season there are some huge differences between the two clubs;

1). The new kit for the coming season is already on sale online and in the shop.
2). The club seem to of engaged well with the local community. You see all age groups at the matches, and often three generations of the same family.
3). The stewarding is friendly and low key.

Last night there was over 4,000 at the friendly match, and looking in from the outside they seem like a great example of how to engage with supporters and generate a ‘buzz’ around the club.

Sadly at Scunthorpe we seem to get it wrong season after season.

BTW: I have a wager with my daughter for the coming season; If Scunny beat York she has to wear a Scunny kit the next day, and if York beat Scunny I have to wear a York kit the next day! The way our squad is looking right now I suspect I bed get ordering one!

I do hope not Deerey far to many women in it for my liking, counted at least 11 of them, a far to political correct video even managed to get someone with a disability in there. I cringe whenever tv crews interview the residents of Scunny why do they always get people with no teeth or utter drongos to speak, can just imagine who they would get on a video of our club lol.

Its It’s going back a few years but I don’t remember the Alty fans being over friendly when they dumped us out of the FA cup.

there is always a difference when your club has got promotion or are on the up, don’t forget that York, Wrexham and Stockport have been in the same situation as us and have turned their fortune around, look at Grimsby, it just needed a change of owner, but ours is more concerned at building apartments and a nightclub and isn’t giving 2 hoots to the fans, so to York and the others let them enjoy their upturn in fortunes and hope ours come soon.

A lot of non league teams have better atmosphere and hospitality so it’s not surprising.
Also does anyone actually know when the new kits out or are they just going to recycle the 2021/22 one?

We know you don’t think women should be anywhere near football awaywego but anyone who takes issue with that video supposedly being ‘too politically correct’ needs to get a life. The idea is to promote inclusively and show the club isn’t stuck in a 70s mindset and welcomes everyone, including women, people with disabilities and minority groups. It’s a good thing to do and will help attract new supporters who may think attending isn’t for them. I suppose there’s always going to be fans who’d prefer football to stay in the dark ages.
