Is either Butler or Plummer having more of a say on the style of play ?. Dean is a tippy, tappy merchant yet as soon as his job is in peril the teams style of play has totally changed.
How we’re playing now is how we should have been playing since Christmas, I like the way we’ve been mixing it up by going long at times and in general more direct and purposeful. As a result we look much, much better.
Maybe Dean could have had an epiphany and saw the error of his ways, but I’m highly suspicious somebody else at the club is behind how we’re playing now.
A little off topic, but I can’t quite believe how Beestin has strengthened us playing out wide. In the not too distant past he’s looked absolutely terrible, but somehow has totally turned it around. Beestin is playing slightly tucked in and is coming central which is not only allowing him to link up with Whitehall, it’s strengthened CM when we’re out of possession.
Am I not giving Dean enough credit ?
Has Dean suddenly morphed into a tactical genius ?March 17, 2024 at 3:44 pm #282840Don’t you think the Darlington defeat was the kick up the backside everyone needed

March 17, 2024 at 4:40 pm #282843Whitehall has certainly improved since we began getting it forward more early, he’s winning more headers and the runners from midfield are getting up early enough to benefit from that. Not sure if it’s Dean, his coaching staff or just the players doing their own thing but we look a lot more positive in our approach, just need to finish these extra chances off that are being created as a result.

March 17, 2024 at 5:35 pm #282845Smoke and mirrors… don’t get too excited after playing two of the worst teams we’ve ever shared a pitch with. Wouldn’t read too much into it.

March 17, 2024 at 5:39 pm #282846Agree BLT. That was a very poor defence. I think we probably doubled the number of first contacts from corners for the season.

I was speaking more of the change up of our playing style than the quality we were up against. The pre “job hanging on by a thread Dean” would have had us playing the pass, pass style without going anywhere.
There’s certainly been a big change up.
March 17, 2024 at 8:50 pm #282853Can’t see us getting this much space and time on the ball by any other side
Other than maybe Gloucester. The test will be Warrington away, or spennymoor – who, looking at the way the fixtures are I cannot see us playing until just before the last weekend of the season.March 18, 2024 at 8:06 am #282857Smoke and mirrors… don’t get too excited after playing two of the worst teams we’ve ever shared a pitch with. Agreed – don’t get too excited as the teams we’ve played have been garbage. However, our style of play has definitely changed.

Where have I typed that I’m over excited and claiming we’ve morphed into Brazil ?. All I was commenting on is our big change up in playing style and how he look much better because of it.

Personally, I didn’t mean that you specifically had got over-excited. I meant ‘people in general’ shouldn’t. We’re doing ok but the teams we’ve played have been rubbish.

March 18, 2024 at 3:03 pm #282868yes a change in the style of play has been noted …alas i dont think you can really take anything going forward from the last 2 fixtures both against such poor teams … i doubt we will get it so easy Saturday and in any of the other remaining games til the end of the season ..
Lets get back to this circa 5pm Saturday and hope we are celebrating another good direct attacking performance n 3 points.
March 18, 2024 at 3:07 pm #282870IFA – they had better be up for it saturday – Chorley are too close to relax.
