European cup final, the Inter fans stayed for the presentations.
FA cup final, Man United fans were long gone, even for the runners up presentations.
June 10, 2023 at 10:36 pm #264268Most losing fans leave at the bigger clubs, always remember the Carlisle fans staying behind to applaud the Iron when we won league one in 2006/7 season. Thought it was a nice gesture and probably speaks volumes about the camaraderie that exists amongst lower league clubs. As for tonight I thought it was a tough game for City and Ederson was magnificent towards the end but I’m pleased for City, they are head and shoulders above any team in this country and what a cool finish from Rodri.
June 11, 2023 at 10:29 am #264290Did not the majority of us leave Wembley after our losses? Those that stay behind are called happy clappers in them cases, there are times when fans do stay back to applaud like Ironawe said, I applaud a cracking goal by the opposition , what I don’t like is people standing there clapping players when they’ve put in a really shite performance could name a lot but will just mention 2 this year Notts county and Gateshead you ask why people are clapping but you never get an answer.

June 11, 2023 at 11:11 am #264291No way was I watching Luton get presented with the JP Trophy.
I bet if it was AC Milan who beat them last night they’d have cleared off!

June 11, 2023 at 1:19 pm #264297I believe Pep is the first club coach in history to achieve this treble feat with two separate clubs in different countries , if so then that is truly remarkable.

No! If Internazionale had been playing AC and the Rossoneri had won it would have been akin to United not wanting to hang around after City beat them!
City derbies and all that.

Wembley may not be the easiest stadium to get to but reading the reports of fans’ difficulties getting to/from the game last night, I suspect the Inter fans had no choice but to sit there & suck it up.
June 12, 2023 at 6:56 am #264319Some people never miss an opportunity to have a dig at Manchester United, I have never understood it, personally I haven’t had any interest in a premier club since Sheff Wed dropped out but when they were up there I never had the hatred and jealousy other teams fans seemed to have.
As for their fans not staying behind, would you stay behind and applaud Grimsby if they beat us in a cup final because I wouldn’t.

June 12, 2023 at 7:24 am #264321All very good points put forward, it’s just an observation, it didn’t use to happen, not only in England but in Scotland too, in fact the Scottish cup final some time ago was the first time I noticed this phenomenon.
After a final the losing finalist used to do a lap of honour for their followers thanking them for their support.
When I’ve left early it’s been because of my disgust at my team’s performance. Manchester United should have been proud of their teams efforts, as with Inter, they didn’t just roll over.
My point is that it just doesn’t look good when half the stadium is empty during the presentations at a national event.1 user thanked author for this post.

Each to their own of course but I’ve always felt that those moments are more for the players than the fans. For example, I remember at Wembley you could barely even see Cliff picking up the trophy from the seats behind the goal. It looks great on TV but for anyone in the ground you can hardly see a thing.
June 12, 2023 at 9:26 am #264326Wish I was a better person but when we lost to Blackpool and Luton at Wembley I was out of there immediately.
Probably had a beer in hand by the time any medals were handed out.
