    Is needed.

The clubs have won their respective leagues ‘X’ amount of times in the last 11 seasons:

    Man City 7 … [4]
    Barcelona 5 – Real Madrid 4… [3]
    Bayern 10 … [2]
    PSG 9 … [3]
    Ajax 4 – PSV 4 … [3]
    Juve 7 … [4]
    Benfica 7 … [3]

The figures in brackets indicate the number of different clubs that have won that country’s league over the same timeframe.

    Champions League … really?

You have to go back to 2009-10 to witness a winner who didn’t represent either Spain, England or Germany.

In those last 14 seasons, Spain have won the ‘competition?’ 7 times, England 4, Germany 2 and Italy 1.

This seasons finalists are from Spain & Germany – so one country’s total will be incrementing shortly.

    European Cup & CL Successes
    Spain 19 – RM 14
    England 15 – Liverpool 6
    Italy 12 – Milan 7
    Germany 8 – Bayern 6
    Holland 6 – Ajax 4
    Portugal 4 – Benfica 2, Porto 2

France, Romania, Scotland & Yugoslavia have one win each.

So, in 70 seasons only ten different nationalities have won it.

Take out the ‘one hit wonders’ and we’re down to a mere six nation successes in 70 seasons!

When will a country outside of the ‘fantastic four’ next taste success.

Even Italy are struggling to produce a team with the quality to trouble the Spanish, English and Germans.

    European Elite League

Surely something could be agreed upon?

A 20 team league, one club from each country in UEFA’s Top 20 rankings in its inception year.

So the UEFA rankings for 2022-23 would have seen teams representing:

    England
    Spain
    Germany
    Italy
    France
    Netherlands
    Portugal
    Belgium
    Belgium
    Scotland
    Austria
    Serbia
    Türki̇ye
    Switzerland
    Ukraine
    Czechia
    Norway
    Denmark
    Russia
    Croatia
    Greece

The champions of each of those countries would have competed in the EEL in season 2023-24.

The UEFA rankings for 2023-24 would see the champions of the top 19 countries plus the reigning champions compete in the 2024-25 EEL.

The teams playing in the EEL would not compete in their national league that season.

UEFA could still operate the midweek Champions League competition.

    Who cares?

I’ve not watched one MotD or any other ‘highlights’ show all season.
In 2022-23 I may have seen a few minutes of a handful of Sunday morning’s televisual offerings.
I think the last full game I watched ‘live’ (dodgy stick) was the game when Leicester won their title in 2015/16.

SUFC and my Spanish RFEF (Real Federación Española de Fútbol) Primera Federación team is what keeps me interested & entertained.

Fantasy football is the only thing maintaining much interest in the Premier League for me. Even then it’s more about the players, data and trends. Team performance and future fixtures I suppose though I couldn’t care less who wins the thing amd gets in to Europe.

Haven’t seen a premier league game in over 11 years now, no highlights just the occasional goal on the news, cant beat watching scunny, refs are shite down here but so is Var where they are.
European cups ruined by champions league especially the cup winners cup that was my favorite.

I admit to following PL and other EFL scores etc but no real interest who wins or looses etc .. always nice to see the Cods get battered but if Scunny Utd not involved means very little and that includes the CL etc , doubt i will bother with the FA cup final also.

Hoping the NLTV and HR commentaries improve as lots of issues last season.

Indeed the refs were absolute dog mess last season and cant see that improving anytime soon.

I used to enjoy watching the EFL highlights. But that waned during our last season in the league and is now non-existent. Shame.

IMO .. Its only a matter of time before this happens in some way shape or form, very sad if it does ..imagine all the big boys constantly playing each other BORING YAWN BORING .. leagues will miss out on the smaller clubs making great games against the Liverpools Man C/U Arsenal Madrid and Barca etc ..

Any clubs that join should be totally banned from playing in the UK cup comps n all.
