WATSON
ROWE MCGAHEY BEDEAU BUTROID
ABO GILLIEAD MCATEE COCO
KVV FELANeed an experienced GK/Defender/CM trio but it wouldn’t be the end of the world, would it?
July 26, 2020 at 8:58 am #192486it wouldn’t be very good either, what about injuries and suspensions, Watson is not a starter, Rowe has no experience, Butroid OK, centre backs OK, forward line is our strongpoint, but convincing Russ to play attacking football with the idea of possibly winning 4-3 rather than his favoured 1-0 grind out negative style is a different story, first choice keeper, right back, at least another central defender and midfielder and depending if we sell any of the last 6 on your list we are OK upfront for now.
July 26, 2020 at 10:54 am #1924881.A team with no CMs would be a massive risk.
2.Still no genuine central striker, the front 6 are either wide players or No 10s.
3 Some of that 11 are clearly not good enough.
4.Apart from Dales & Beestin would anybody on the bench have started a league game?
The chairmans target of 5 in is certainly needed.July 26, 2020 at 11:27 am #192491I wouldn’t actually mind Jai Rowe being our RB lots of potential and shone in the away game against Swindon when it was basically youngsters everywhere!
Attacking wise we have plenty of them and more than good enough but we have Wilcox…. he doesn’t know what attacking is… since he took over Hurst Eisa/Gilliead/KVV all spiralled out of form!
July 26, 2020 at 11:57 am #192496Agree with ‘tash.
Desperately need an experienced CM. Desperately need an experienced GK. could do with a Beast/Torps/Gayle type CF (this is L2 after all).
Would also want to see another CB to cover for injuries, but the same is true about the FBs!
Recruitment will have to be phenomenally good, but it will be a buyer’s market.
July 26, 2020 at 3:42 pm #192502With Watson and Wilcox we are going nowhere.
Both need replacing and neither will be.
Only signing young “up and comers” we will have problems.
We desperately need an experienced spine ala Gilks, Crosby, Bishop & Torpey.
One of each of those type are vital and I worry we’ll get none.
July 26, 2020 at 7:53 pm #192505Spot on Darren, we tried that 2 years ago and look where it got us, Russ shouldn’t manage the first team after the Grimsby fiasco when we offered nothing and he hadn’t a clue when we went behind, and signing all young players without balance of experience could be total disaster, it’s OK saying Crewe had a young team but they had half a dozen experienced lads as well.
July 26, 2020 at 8:27 pm #192507That team has relegation written all over it! Need a new GK, at least two fullbacks, at least two central midfielders and a decent striker.
July 26, 2020 at 8:46 pm #192508Wilcox and attacking are two words that will never be in the same sentence.
With Wilcox at the helm attendances will dwindle at at the same time as league position.
Additionally the squad desperately needs experience, we need another Beagrie type.
If we are stuck with Wilcox he could do worse than getting Lillis in as assistant, he sounded up for it in podcast and I’m sure he knows how to motivate (more than Wilcox anyway).
July 26, 2020 at 9:03 pm #192511Russ is supposed to be a excellent coach, but regarding tactical play on a match day doesn’t fill you with confidence with looking forward to going to a game, so with a young team in league 2 I think it will be a long season, and even worse if we sell 2 or 3 of our better players who are still here.
