Bloody pitch inspection this afternoon.
Why not tomorrow as temperatures are set to rise.
Not as if they are travelling from Torquay.
Or would it suit us more for it to be off?January 19, 2024 at 12:31 pm #279509Agree, my back lawn is unplayable.

January 19, 2024 at 12:59 pm #279510Most fans are appreciative of an early pitch inspection some will be coming on the train like we do so earlier the better for them. I hope the game is called off so when we do play Whitehàll and Butterfield will hopefully be available, better a night game at home anyway the atmosphere ramps up.
January 19, 2024 at 1:01 pm #279511Positive temperatures tonight and a sweltering 7 degrees at kick off time tomorrow.
They be muppets to call it off.January 19, 2024 at 1:04 pm #279512Most fans are appreciative of an early pitch inspection some will be coming on the train like we do so earlier the better for them. Think of all that lovely lolly in the tills. 600 or so away supporters.
A fist full of dollars is better than two in the bush.
Get it played.
Men or mice?January 19, 2024 at 1:15 pm #279514Depends on how deep the frost has gotten into the pitch after consecutive frozen nights, there has been a few. GP isn’t a sun trap all the way round and despite the covers there will be areas that will struggle after recent nighttime temperatures. Hope it goes ahead because both sets of fans are really up for this game right now.

January 19, 2024 at 1:20 pm #279515Yeah, that’s the problem with these tight grounds, certain areas often never see the sun at certain times of the year.
I really hope it’s on. We need to play the new champions elect (see betting odds) and give them ‘a jolly good thrashing’.

January 19, 2024 at 1:34 pm #279516Surely the local ref will be impartial in his inspection.
Refund 500 Lambs and have Butterfield and Whitehall back or take the money and go without them. Which would you choose?
January 19, 2024 at 1:40 pm #279517or get money in to pay creditors
January 19, 2024 at 2:49 pm #279518Play.
What time is the PI?January 19, 2024 at 3:21 pm #279519or get money in to pay creditors
Same fans will turn up, just at a later date. Get Whitehall and Butterfield back in the arranged game. Increases our chances.
January 19, 2024 at 3:22 pm #279520Play.
What time is the PI?3.14. ;-)
January 19, 2024 at 3:25 pm #279521Rearranged game on a Tuesday night won’t attract an equivalent crowd. Tamworth won’t bring 500+ and the match will be streamed.
January 19, 2024 at 4:09 pm #279524Game postponed

Absolutely. A Tuesday night game would probably see a 1,000 less through the Turnstiles.
Any news yet?
January 19, 2024 at 4:11 pm #279526Called off? If so I reckon the club will
lose around £20k for that decision, I would expect 5k plus tomorrow Tuesday night 4k.January 19, 2024 at 4:13 pm #279527On Tamworth site game is off.

January 19, 2024 at 4:13 pm #279528Some very odd views on the Facebook page, ranging from weather and pitch experts claiming it should definitely be on with absolute certainty to conspiracy theorists claiming we want the match off to have players back from injury in a rearranged fixture, despite the club needing a postponement like a hole in the head. How about the boring but more likely explanation if it’s called off that the pitch is so frozen in parts it just won’t thaw in time? The Facebook page-the home of the irrational.
January 19, 2024 at 4:15 pm #279529Oh, it’s definitely off. That should ramp up the conspiracy theorists to max
January 19, 2024 at 4:26 pm #279530That will have ruined a lot of people’s weekends.
Gutted that it’s off.
A big financial hit for the club.
Who was the L3 ref who made the decision?January 19, 2024 at 4:30 pm #279531If it’s not on before 12th February which it won’t that will be 4 of us that we’re going tomorrow won’t be going to the rearranged match

NO!
January 19, 2024 at 4:42 pm #279535Conspiracy theorists? lol
I remember going to The Hawthorns in 1984, the next round of the FA Cup after we knocked Leeds out in a second replay. THAT 1 -0 defeat was definitely a fix I tell ya! We all stopped behind after the match to tell them so.
January 19, 2024 at 4:44 pm #279536The Football Gods have spoken and want me to watch this game.
January 19, 2024 at 4:51 pm #279537Is pushing fixtures of this ilk back 24 hours akin to reordering jupiters moons?
January 19, 2024 at 4:52 pm #279538Let’s Hope Tamworth’s run doesn’t continue as they could quite easily be long gone by the time the rearranged match is on.
I’d say that would knock more than a 1000 off in a midweek.Won’t matter who’s back from the injury table or suspension.
January 19, 2024 at 4:53 pm #279539Tomorrow’s weather is fine with rising temperatures, but one end will be hard and the other perfect, no need to risk player injuries no one travelled jobs a good un move on,
well maybe not! they’ll be a lot of tears tomorrow I’m sure, another whip round for Michelle anyone?January 19, 2024 at 5:01 pm #279541Tent the affected area and use industrial LPG heaters/blowers on the morning of the match?
Or, ask us all to donate our electric blankets and lay them down?
Narrow the pitch a metre cutting out the ‘frozen’ area?
Or, fit those ice grip devices that you see in SAGA type sales catalogues to the players boots and don them in head guards.
Or, settle the game on the PlayStation or Xbox… lol.
January 19, 2024 at 5:03 pm #279543Just to be clear for the more cognitively challenged amongst us, I’m not remotely implying there hasn’t been games called off out of convenience before. I seriously doubt this is an example of one and to suggest it is ventures in to conspiracy.
