I was concerned about the club but there is hope
…a questionnaire is on its way….
A chairman destroying the club wants to get to the heart of why the club is being destroyed by asking those who can see the club being destroyed by the Chairman what the reason is for their absence.
Expect a Putin like results announcement

October 4, 2021 at 9:12 am #214693Who will have access to this questionnaire?
Where will it be accessible?Question 1:
What has brought the club to it’s present level?
A. Covid
B. The supporters
C. North Lincolnshire Council
D. Lucent
E. CovidEtc
October 4, 2021 at 9:51 am #214697F All of the above
(the annoying option which catch people out after they answered A Covid)
October 4, 2021 at 10:14 am #214700I thought the Bru crew asked some good, probing questions. My favourite was SST’s “what if you’re the problem, Peter?” when he brought up the survey.
Lots of talk but I didn’t think there were many firm answers. For example, Neil Wright asked him about the EFL loan but I don’t feel we got a clear answer on that, see also the questions about Bilson.
However, apparently we can expect an announcement on ground developments in the next few weeks! It’s great to get an old favourite like that back!

I might be a cynical old b****** (OK I am) but what if the announcement is along the lines of:-
“Due to Covid and the lack of fans support the plans to develop the ground have been further postponed/completely shelved”1 user thanked author for this post.
October 4, 2021 at 10:30 am #214705His tone was more optimistic than that but who knows? As SST pointed out, the planning permission only lasts until the middle of next year, so something will have to happen soon or he’ll have to submit a new application.

October 4, 2021 at 11:13 am #214713October 4, 2021 at 11:32 am #214720I fully understand & admire the idea that a football club should be self-sufficient but until SUFC can get to the point of being competitive & self-sufficient then as chairman, I expect Peter Swann should put his money in and bridge the gap.
Hopefully this development work does go ahead and our income increases alongside it.
What he does in January will answer a lot of questions for me.
October 4, 2021 at 11:49 am #214727True, but his tone was optimistic the numerous other times we were told work would be commencing soon.’Next few weeks’ seemed a bit plucked out of thin air but we’ll see I suppose.
Bearing in mind he said in a previous interview the work would commence by next August ( 22/23 season ) I’m not holding my breath on anything this guy comes up with. He should have been a politician or an England bowler, he’s an expert in spinning and I don’t mean wool, that he just likes pulling over our eyes.

October 4, 2021 at 1:05 pm #214734Like all the past promises from the Poundland Obramovich, the interview was full of hot air and bluster!!!
I would still like to know why he miss-managed the clubs finances to such an extent that the only option was to transfer the ownership of the ground to one of his companies.
October 4, 2021 at 2:54 pm #214755My favourite bullshit from the Podcast. (I paraphrase)
We couldnt sign any decent forwards because those nasty non league people with their £3m budgets have snaffled all the good League 2 players. Some of them are paying £2k – £3k per week you know.
Later on to the question “Why was McAtee shite for us but is now the star for the Cods”
Because he is only playing non league against all those shit players, of course he will look good,
You can’t have it both ways my son.

October 4, 2021 at 3:45 pm #214760Some substance to part of that, Mullen & Madden for example haven’t dropped to NL to further their careers.
Regarding McAtee, maybe he could be starring for us if properly managed.October 4, 2021 at 4:21 pm #214767Or if his mentor hadn’t been sacked for answering back!

October 4, 2021 at 4:34 pm #214770Can’t dispute there are some quality players in the national league. Suspect at least half the teams would beat us if we played them tomorrow.
Disputing the assertion that McAtee only looks a player in non league. He looked quality for us when Hurst was here. He never had a half decent game under the present regime.
Where does the problem lie?
Covid and absent supporters apparently.

October 4, 2021 at 5:08 pm #214772Was that the proverbial vote of convidence in the manager?
He kept saying he will put his money in to keep the club afloat, but isn’t that what he’s already done to amass an £11m debt which he recover by taking ownership of the ground, so in reality he’s just loaning the money.
I thought he was a businessman, he said again he inherited a £4m+ debt from Wharton which he didn’t know about, what sort of businessman buys a business with a hidden £4m debt, doesn’t say much for his due diligence.

Regarding McAtee, maybe he could be starring for us if properly managed. You’re right but you can’t say that and then claim that McAtee’s doing well for the Cods because the Conference is a poor standard. Which is it?

October 6, 2021 at 1:04 am #214894McAtee has been brilliant for us this season. As for the jibes about it’s only the Conference, you only have to look at Sarfend to see it’s a better standard than you’re trying to make it out to be. Hurst knows how to get the best out of him, he has also bought in some great players for him to play off, and built a team that plays good football and is scoring for fun, from scratch with little money spent, unlike some in the National league.
Swan dropped a bollock of biblical proportions when he forced Hurst out. If you had kept him you wouldn’t be in the position you are in now, and McAtee would have been at the heart of it.
Good luck to the proper Scunny fans, you’re going to need it!

Swann has dropped many clangers, that just been 1 of dozens. Hurst got a lot out of Eisa, Gillead and Mcatee but because he dares speak up to Swann about moving the goalposts on the transfer dealings, he got rid.
We all know he’s a complete and utter penis. Honestly, you’re not saying anything that we don’t already know.

Is that Ryan Taylor up front for you the ginger one who used to be at Rotherham?
I don’t think most Scunny fans are not in any doubt about how hard the Conference will be next season, despite Swann’s boasts about us still being a Football League club.

October 6, 2021 at 11:31 am #214917Yes it is Ryan Taylor. Hurst has found us some real gems that could easily play league football. One in particular is Erico Sousa, plucked him from Darlington, he’s unplayable. Hurst has a real talent for spotting good players, as he has shown this season.

Topics: 11Hurst should never have left SUFC, we were turning the corner and playing some good football. Mcatee was excelling too.

October 6, 2021 at 11:47 am #214924When’s the survey coming out??
And what’s everyone’s response?
The whole experience is absolutely dire and at the lowest place from as long as I can remember.
Supported the club since the 70’s but can’t be arsed to go anymore as there’s better things to do in life than spend 5 hours on Saturday watching dire football. Can see that for a fraction of the price at Brigg town.I doubt I’ll return. All that building the club into a enviable club by many is a distant dream.
There’s nothing to look forward to as a Iron fan.
And one wonders why the fans are lost. Easier to lose than to get back.3 users thanked author for this post.
October 6, 2021 at 11:47 am #214925Hurst signed some good players when he was here as was stated earlier but he chose to stand his ground when challenged by The Great Dictator, or as he is known round here The Great Dick. Lot of time for Hurst he was gradually turning us round and we were starting to become a good football side again until the axe came, I’m sure he will get Grimsby promoted and we are odds on for trading places come May.

Yes we went to Darlington too. We got Tyrone O’Neil, did you get first pick?
Some of O’Neil’s performances have apparently led to the manager thinking he’s ‘unplayable’!October 6, 2021 at 1:16 pm #214930Hurst signed some good players when he was here as was stated earlier but he chose to stand his ground when challenged by The Great Dictator, or as he is known round here The Great Dick. I think it was about who he was trying to sign and at what wage linked to medical.
October 6, 2021 at 1:29 pm #214931My understanding of Swann getting rid of Hurst was that he believe we were going with youngsters which were under pinned by some experience, then Swann moved the goal posts and decided to just sign kids and Hurst didn’t agree with that plan, spoke up and was put in a position where he couldn’t stay anymore.
Swann went ahead with the braindead all youth policy then quickly backtracked by signing experience soon after it was apparent the so called youth plan was a load of shite and we lacked leadership.
This is why chairman should sign off on things in the boardroom and leave the footballing side of things to footballing people.
If Swann didn’t meddle Hurst would maybe have been here now and we would have been a lot better for it. As I said, Swann backtracked anyway when we signed experience soon after.
Another balls up to go with the other pile of crap he’s caused.

October 6, 2021 at 1:58 pm #214932Are we talking about the same Hurst here? What I remember was him being Vilified from the first match against Swindon, Spireiron wanted him gone then, it took us 8 games before he got his first win by then many were wanting rid.
