Apparently a 3rd of our fans haven’t been turning up to games because we have an ageing fan base and they’re scared of contracting covid and has nothing to do with the fact we have shit strikers and had a manager who was so out of his depth, he couldn’t even get the players match fit.
Oh another thing. Swann’s not clearing the embargo so Hill will have to wheel and deal and attempt to eek out some bargains.
What worries me is, is that Swann said for or 5 going out with the same number coming in so we won’t exactly be strengthening the squad in terms of numbers, just fresh players and the same squad size.
Potential players leaving In Jan ?
Hallam on loan
Wood going back to Hull
Hackney’s loan is up in Jan
Loft for nominal fee
O’neil out on loan
Turan on loan as well1 user thanked author for this post.
December 21, 2021 at 9:52 am #219621My memory is not what it used to be but my recollection from the shareholder`s meeting was that Swann would clear the football league loan if he felt it was necessary.Am i mistaken?
December 21, 2021 at 9:58 am #219622Exactly as I predicted when the usual suspects naively thought we’d turned the corner with the odious Swann.
First off he STILL blames covid and refuses to accept it’s his fault.
And not clearing the loan?
The man’s a turd.Nothing will change at the Swannshit stadium until he and his family move on.
Going down.

HAYESSORRY wrong season, no ambition now, nothing to to do with aging fanbase or COVID, the ambition went nearly 4 years ago when the club went to zero overnight after failure to get promoted and Karin probably stopped hubby’s pocket money.

December 21, 2021 at 11:05 am #219624According to the chief executive,
we had 400 responses or there abouts, from the fans survey, 200 of these apparently stated that they would not return due to COVID concerns. We are roughly 800-1000 supporters down from our usual average attendances for the past 25 years, some of these will be staying away due to the shite football, a substantial proportion will be staying away because of Swann.
The club/Swann are unwilling to see what is happening in front of them, therefore they have no hope of remedying the situation. Token efforts of goodwill are now transparent as nothing comes to fruition from them, the shareholder/season ticket meetings have appeased the growing sense of unrest amongst the fan base for now.
Personally, I have given up hope of anything substantially improving now under the Swann’s. It is looking increasingly likely it will be non league football for us next year and we all know that we won’t be coming back anytime soon.

I think you are right. Although I remember Mr Swanns statements at previous fans forums so probably open to interpretation.
It is not covid that stops me going, it was what happened with the ground because the club had wasted £11.3 million ! The club did not waste £11.3 million, the club paid the bill for a recruitment policy over several years that leaves the club in such a perilous position. And the clueless recruitment by Mr Cox still takes your breath away. Then you can add KDT and subsequent offering a 2 year deal to Jordan Hallam to compound more money wasted.

December 21, 2021 at 7:36 pm #219659According to Swann on his interview he said we’d have the embargo to deal with but it didn’t matter because we’d still have the same wage budget regardless so doesn’t really matter.
Only God knows when he’s going to clear it.
The best of the lot was when he was asked about Big Bad Turan, he replied ” he’s not a bad player, it just hasn’t worked here for him”
His record suggests otherwise, he should have never been signed in the first place. Hallam is another one with his injury record, all down to that pillock pretending to be a super scout.

I thought that the embargo prevented us from paying a fee for players. I don’t pretend to know the details but I’m sure that was stated at the time.

Ok maybe the pretending to be a super scout comment was a bit harsh in regards to Big Bad Turan.
I don’t really care whether Cox wanted him or not, one look at his record should have denied him. You seen the state of it ?
Where was the scout recommending not to sign him ?
Any chairman in their right mind wouldn’t have signed off on the deal. Jarvis has been ok at times but he’s another one.
Mick is right, somebody has wrapped his knuckles and his the piggy bank. The quality has gone down ever since our last failed attempt at promotion.
Good players have gone and have gradually been placed with more and more substandard or just ok players, hence why we are where we are !

December 21, 2021 at 11:12 pm #219681The reason that I have not renewed my long term season ticket is not just a single one resaon, it is a few reasons:-
1. Because of the very boring so called football ptresented to us over the past four years.
2. Because Cox was not sacked last January, and Swann kept saying that he was doing a good jpb.
3. Because there not being any signs of things getting any better.
4. Because of the Chairmans lack of interest, and all of his faulse promisses turning out to be just trying to take the piss out of the clubs supporters, none ever came true.
5. Because I just thought, after supporting the team for 70 years, there is no longer any enjoyment in attending.
6. Because I just could not take any more of the team defending every match, even at home.
7. I was angree when the ground was taken from the clubs ownership, to pay for an £11 million pound debt which was run up, and suppervised by the same person that got the into debt.
8. Last of all, all of the friends near the location of my seat have also stopped attending. My reasons are nothing to do with Covid, I have had my 3 Covid jabs, and my season flu jab, and feel safe enough in the Gluggy, even more so now, because there isn’t anyone within 3 metre of my usual seat, this can clearly be seen when watching i-follower, I don’t mind the £10 i-follower fee, but are not prepared to waste a full day at the ground and come away bored, no entertainment or enjoyment gained, the owner cannot be arsed to attend, so why does he think that we should!!!!!!!

December 21, 2021 at 11:23 pm #219682My comment no.2 regarding me wanting and requesting many many times on this forum over the past year, that things would never change for the better under Cox and that he should be sacked, looking back, it did not help when the same forum members kept saying that “he was local” and that he was a “very nice man” did not help in any way.
The truth is that he has not got a clue, and that he will never get a job like he had at Scunny ever again, but I still think that he was kept on because he was part of the plan that would see SUFC go bankrupt, but it went on too long which forced his own sacking.3 users thanked author for this post.
December 22, 2021 at 12:39 am #219683I don’t care how now of a man he supposedly was, a chairman should keep a manager on with the record he had for as long as he did and the complete lack of know how to even get the players match fit is beyond forgiveable.
Look at the progress Hill’s made with the same players. A huge shame he wasn’t binned earlier. The squad has it’s limitations but I’d like to think with Hill here much earlier we’d have been a lot better off then we are now.
I’m pretty much certain of it.

That “ambition” is all very well but it’s spending on those players which created the debt & put us in a hole now.

0 wins in 8? Aye, we’d never have managed that under Cox!

December 22, 2021 at 9:07 am #219692Totally agree WonderGoals – the level of mediocrity in recruitment these last 4 seasons lands at the feet of the man who signs the cheques. Neil Cox was a continuation of disasters, was not my choice.
Michael Flynn was mine, and if we were going to go ‘inexperienced’ getting their 1st managers job I would have asked Gary McSheffrey.

There’s the kicker.
Do as I say, not as I do…he must be a politician.
He’s certainly an idiot. And there still seem to be some on here as think we’ll be OK now Hill is here.
0 wins in 8 says different.Going down.
December 22, 2021 at 9:59 am #219697Swann should have been dragging Hill here in May when he left Tranmere.
October/November was too late.

December 22, 2021 at 12:44 pm #219709People keek mentioning the debt, but when you look at the likes of Notts county with a current debt of 21.6 million it makes our old debt small fry.
December 22, 2021 at 3:16 pm #219713Depends who the debt is with.
Ours must have been owed to Coolsilk?
Hence we gave them the ground and land. But three things come to mind?
Are we still losing money?
If so, at what rate?
And how do “we” pay off any new debt accrued?2 users thanked author for this post.
December 22, 2021 at 3:47 pm #219714I also remember at the meeting Swann had with the shareholders he stated that we would see work start again on the stand in a couple of weeks. Once again nothing has happened.

December 22, 2021 at 7:11 pm #219717Of course we will still be losing money very few clubs break even let alone make a profit, when did Scunthorpe last break even or make a profit, maybe when we sold Hooper?.Swanny has said we need an average crowd of 3000 to break even, our last accounts showed we made a loss of £107,000 roughly but that was only so low because Coolsilk put £2,1 million into the club through sponsoring the ground naming. On a positive note (if you can call it that) wage to turnover as dropped from 143% to 78% and we’ve certainly noticed that on the field havnt we.

While she’s still keeping her bits and pieces warm in bed there’s always a chance. I just hope we’re safe before she decides to arise from her slumber to reveal her heavenly body !

If you can’t see how far we’ve come “even though for the most part we’ve only had draws” you need to either get laser eye treatment or just give up watching us all together.
This team could barely last 30 mins while pressing the opposition, as your limp hero Super Cox was completely clueless.
Hard enough trying to turn around a squad with limitations but to turn around one who aren’t even match fit this far into the season is another thing entirely.
All we ever heard was “we’ve has a fantastic week in training”. What were they all doing ?. Playing, I spy ?

December 22, 2021 at 11:32 pm #219733To be fair the last thing we need at the moment is a refurbished ground.

I’m not saying we haven’t made any progress but the fact remains we’ve won two games all season & are bottom of the league. Hill’s yet to win a game and whilst we’re a bit better, I’m not sure we’d be much better off overall if Hill had been in charge since August.
