How come Stockport can get Madden from Fleetwood ,a drop of two divisions and Quigley top scorer from Barrow when all we can do is to buy player’s that are not up to league standard, watching the Bolton v Stockport replay

The main thing about the Stockport match tonight was looking back at the Brian Laws era and thinking this was the same excitement created- maybe not great players but passion and commitment that led to fantastic viewing.

Exactly, let’s hope they have a chairman who knows how to budget properly too because we are a perfect example of what happens when you dont.

Stockport are mid-table in the league below, yet tonight they were magnificent – intensity, flair, team spirit and talent. Plus, a decent ground and fantastic fans. If if we drop out it’s hard to see how the club will get back anytime soon.

The answer is more likely to be that Stockport never accepted defeat, and even attacked when losing, drawing or winning, not like our pathetic lot under Cox, who did not know how to win, our record prooves it fully.

This was great to watch, and would certainly put a few bums on seats if we ever played like that, but we never get any Cup runs together, so lets just dream of what could be. If we face the truth, I think that our club is about finished, even under Keith Hill, the rot has set in too deeply, and presently, we have no league players, no money and losing cash every week, we have lost 40% of our supporters, and rooted to the bottom of League 2, and have this embargo of the Football Leagues hung round our necks, so Mr Keith you have some task ahead of you, and just hope that you manage it. The big problem is that if by some means we do stay in the Football League, how the hell is next season going to be any different????????

I know a Stockport fan and a Torquay and they are both worried about the future. Its the last season with no spending restrictions. A lot of non league teams (bar 2 who go up) will be in trouble next season.
And next season can be different in the way the one after we nearly went out last time. 3 signings and boom.
The margins in this league are small – a fit Kenyon makes a difference on last Saturday performance. It’s just who finds a Rick Green for one season to take you up.

have to agree with the earlier post .. all be it tight points wise at the bottom the rot is set in too deep and with all things taken into consideration it would amaze me if Hill can keep us in the league ..sad fact but very real.

The Cods NL bubble has burst and with clubs like Stockport , Chesterfield , Wrexham and the lesser know but superb Bromley and Boreham Wood etc its hard to see them getting promoted …local derby next season !!

    UP THE IRON.

Interesting article on Grimsby telegraph by the owner of the cods, wanting financial regulations to be brought in the national League, he said this year they will make a significant loss (with 6000 crowds) just tells you what the wage structure is down there, and people don’t believe swanny when he said we need 3000 to make ends meet.

Thought Paddy was outstanding. That is where it all started to fall apart at GP, when the then manager put Paddy out on the right wing for whatever point he was trying to prove !

And Paddy is on £3500k / week, that diivision will be subjected to FFP next season so hope they have their houses in order.

Where have you seen about the FFP Sanfran? With Stockwood calling for financial restraints I thought it wasn’t happening yet.

I wouldn’t believe Swanny if he told me today is Thursday.

Speaking of Gateshead. A snippet from the Newcastle Journal: –

Long term absentees Danny Greenfield and Luke Williams return to the Gateshead squad after setbacks earlier in the season.

Williams made 42 appearances for home town club Middlesbrough before moving to Scunthorpe United. Injury has blighted the 28 year old who is yet to start for The Heed.

Pretty sure I read an article and several times FFP was mentioned because some people were buying non-league clubs for very little and using their resources to try to buy the league title.

If Stockport don’t get up this season, I wonder how long it’ll be before they go pop again.
