This is what Hill said today…
“The transfer window has now closed and there is an open free market for players who have had their contracts cancelled, which we will be looking at”
Have we got spaces left to sign people after all ?
February 3, 2022 at 9:35 pm #231407Can some current squad members not going to figure in Hills teams still have their contracts cancelled or terminated by mutual consent now the window is shut? If the answer is yes then maybe that’s what Hill meant.
February 4, 2022 at 12:23 am #231409They could before the window even shut iron awe. KDT should have gone for starters but Swann for some reason didn’t pay his contract up.
I hope he’s not on a lot of money !
February 4, 2022 at 9:10 am #231412Can we still move players out on loan to NL?
February 4, 2022 at 9:56 am #231417The thing with KDT I think is he knows nobody will sign him so he won’t take a pay off and his agent can still tout him as a current league 2 player

Someone mentioned last week that he’s already played for 2 clubs this season so he might not be able to sign for a third one until next season anyway.
Also, if we just pay up his contract, we don’t save any money and therefore releasing him wouldn’t free up any space for additional wages under the embargo.

Should have signed him on a no win no fee contract, or better still no play no fee.

February 4, 2022 at 12:05 pm #231427Players can be deregistered so they can bring one into the squad. I think that was done to Lewis Butroid during the Cox tenure. Effectively on gardening leave or I do believe they can go into the national league.
But we would still have to stay within the EFL acceptable budget if we were looking at a free agent.

February 4, 2022 at 7:45 pm #231444That’s my understanding Sanfran because Hill is obviously looking at players on free transfers. We had 2 wingers supposedly playing in that lincolnshire cup game the other night.
I looked the other night and there’s some capable players without clubs. A fair few are kicking about.
February 4, 2022 at 7:55 pm #231446De registering players won’t help us now I wouldn’t have thought.
Butroid was done due to max squad size that league rules allow.
But we are under different restrictions now due to the embargo so can’t imagine that we can do that.
We will have to release or loan/sell to someone who’s window is still open.
February 4, 2022 at 8:58 pm #231447There must be a way around it because even Hill said the other day that’s now the windows open more players are now on the free market and that’s an area he’ll be looking at.
If there wasn’t something he could do, why would he even be looking ?
February 5, 2022 at 10:21 am #231453Look on salary sport, If you can believe it KDT is on £800-00 a week
February 5, 2022 at 10:45 am #231454Just been looking at free agents on Transfermarkt, there are some interesting names on there such as Jack Whilsere, Charlie Daniels, Josh Sims but the one that we could look at is Jacob mellis! Always gave us a hard time for Barnsley and bury when we played them.
February 5, 2022 at 12:08 pm #231456Yeah he can sign free agents if we get within the rules set out by the embargo which we can do by loaning out or releasing players.
What I was was saying that simply deregistering them from the squad while keeping them under contract won’t be sufficient.
