The security firm should refuse to cover any of our games if their staff are unable to carry out their duties as they are trained.
If you get offended by a violent person being handcuffed you should seek help.
Except that he conveniently misses out the fact that his employee shoved the fan back for the heinous crime of placing his hands on the perimeter gate, and in the ensuing verbals his employee called said fan a fat C U Next Tuesday. Now this doesn’t give the fan the right to swing at him but I would argue there are mitigating circumstances in play.
Moral of the story is if you are going to take a side than make sure you have all the facts!!!

March 31, 2022 at 9:16 am #234666….also is pushing someone back and calling them a C U Next Tuesday acting in a professional manner when dealing with a member of the public? I would suggest not.

Wow!
What if…
The handcuffed person trips and falls face forward in to the close by perimeter wall?
The detainee can not put their arms out to protect themselves whilst falling.
The detainee suffers a severe brain injury.
The detainee dies!What if?
We now have our very own George Floyd type incident.
SIA Trained Safety Stewards with handcuffs.
What next, German Shepherd Safety Guard Dogs?Employing individuals as private security dictates that the “security guard / bouncer” has to be SIA Licensed.
Imagine an unlicensed security guard handcuffs a supporter – litigation would no doubt ensue. Fines and prison are the penalties.
What if he actually used his brain and not jump the wall and try punch a steward?
His own fault if anything happens idiots like this thinking they’re Tyson Fury after a few Stella’s and sniff!

March 31, 2022 at 10:29 am #234670They should Pat, although there’s a difference between running on the pitch in celebration and swinging for a steward.
100% this!
90% of fans recently keep saying away fans run on the pitch every week but don’t get handcuffed..
Difference is they aren’t taking swings at stewards!!
How thick can people get?
Jump over the wall to attack a steward you’re asking for trouble!!
Handcuffing/Tie wrapped then they aren’t going anywhere and it only takes ONE steward to take him out instead of taking 4-5 others out the way of the other idiots!

Actually it’s a Section 5 Public Order Act 1986 charge, in normal life.
March 31, 2022 at 4:18 pm #234724I wondered if there was more to the incident than met the eye, Pat. The kid who jumped the wall was certainly fired up. So it seems it was at least partially unprofessional and provocative Stewarding. Surely there is a place for agreement then… a) don’t put yourself in a place where you are confronted for breaking the rules b) if you do and don’t like the way you are confronted then don’t lose it and launch an assault c) as a club .. don’t adopt a confrontational style of crowd control that builds up over time and creates a toxic atmosphere.
March 31, 2022 at 4:30 pm #234729All fair points JI but there is a
d) don’t attempt a new style of security strategy without running it past the people who run the club, or you may find, as in this case, you are told to not use that method again.

March 31, 2022 at 4:32 pm #234730JI, if c) didn’t happen in the first place there’s less chance of a) and b) happening (though there will always be at least one). Would you agree with that?

What if the steward used his brain and didn’t shove the fan in the first place? As I said earlier, get the facts before shoving your 10p in

Shove a fan and verbally abuse them and you are 100% asking for trouble!!!

I asked a nun if I could kiss her, she replied yes, but don’t get in the habit! 😜1 user thanked author for this post.

My father was a nun. Whenever he was up in court and the judge asked “occupation?”, he’d answer nun!

April 12, 2022 at 3:57 pm #235480A randy Friar once tried to get it on with the head of a Convent and got the reply, ” I’m having nun of it “. He sloped off with a monk on.
