Saw parts of the Stevenage tie v Yeovil.
Several thoughts: I wish we’d signed journeyman Reuben Reid. He is not special but always does a job every time I see him lead a line. Reid for Loft and our season would have been far better than it has been.Stevenage are a load of plodders and will be despondent.
Never a better time to play down there. I never make predictions, so here we go.
I predict an Iron win.December 4, 2021 at 7:44 pm #218829Aye.
Right.2-0 Steve-oh
December 4, 2021 at 8:43 pm #218833They find it difficult to score goals and on tonight’s performance it showed .I would bet Hill would have been watching it
December 4, 2021 at 8:46 pm #218835I’m more worried about us scoring goals.

And conceding soft goals, and being toothless in midfield, and having a dodgy defence, and being ineffective in front of goal, and …oh…and everything.
December 5, 2021 at 2:37 pm #218851With 27 games to go not a must win game, but psychologically a must not lose game, for me anyway.

December 5, 2021 at 8:33 pm #218859Having watched Yeovil, Chesterfield, Buxton and Gateshead this weekendand looking at their assembled squads how did we end up with what we have ?
The budgets will not be above even ours. Loach – chesterfields keeper ??
And we had 2 people who were on the same page ! Good luck to Mr Hill in the jan window because it is impossible to be that wrong again unless of course someone meddles.3 users thanked author for this post.
December 5, 2021 at 11:49 pm #218862I feel that we could get the three points on Tuesday night, Stevenage are a very poor team like ourselves, and at least they were in the second round of the FA Cup whereas we never seem to get past round one.
But the points are there for the taking, and our next four league games are all against pottom half of league 2 teams, so Keith kick the players arses into gear and select your best team, which does not include Loft, but you will know this after the short time that you have been here, and get young Wilson on the bench, and bring him on for the last 20 mins.
So go for the 3 points which I am sure that you will do, and lets get out of the bottom two places.
December 6, 2021 at 9:19 am #218864I do like your optimism.
Must get depressing being wrong, though?😄😄December 6, 2021 at 10:24 am #218866Probably they will say the same about us…
Must be a draw then ;)December 7, 2021 at 8:33 am #218892Several thoughts: I wish we’d signed journeyman Reuben Reid. He is not special but always does a job every time I see him lead a line. Reid for Loft and our season would have been far better than it has been.
Didn’t Reid originally make his name at Yeovil? Or was that Plymouth?
December 7, 2021 at 11:26 am #218897I’m sure after 10 days off without a match Hill will be stressing the need to come out the blocks firing and not let Stevenage take a grip early on. The team is deffo making good progress under the new manager and Stevenage are no great shakes themselves, just go out Iron and win the bloody game.

Just is doing quite a bit of work in there!
December 7, 2021 at 1:45 pm #218905We are only 16 points off the play-offs ! Not that much but the winning run has to start at Stevenage. The final weeks of December will determine the futures of some players at the end of the season.
As it stands we have 20 players out of contract at the end of the season, some will be offered extensions but others have to convince the manager as to their interest in staying.
December 7, 2021 at 2:02 pm #218907And maybe his interest in staying too?
December 7, 2021 at 3:47 pm #218921We are only 16 points off the play-offs !
That’ll be the 16 we’ve chucked away after being in a winning/drawing position.

December 7, 2021 at 7:00 pm #218932Can’t believe Green gets the nod ahead of Scrimshaw or even Loft. Or even the club cat.
If Hill can make a footballer out of Devarn he should get the Old Trafford gig at the end of the season.
Rowe now being reinvented as a defensive midfielder? Will someone play the lad as right back until he gains more experience? He is a decent prospect at full back but he is not ready to play multiple positions.
As ever I hope Green, Rowe and Hill prove me wrong.

December 7, 2021 at 7:04 pm #218933Looks like a 4 – 5 – 1 to me.
No Perry. No Kenyon. No Bunn. No Hallam.
Who is Lewis? – Is that Thompson, perhaps?
December 7, 2021 at 7:15 pm #218934A youngster les
December 7, 2021 at 7:17 pm #218935Ah. Cheers, Mick.
(Thought Thompson was a 16.)December 7, 2021 at 7:19 pm #218936Looks an odd starting 11 on what weve seen. Green please no and i’m not a fan of Hippo either. Pugh and Rowe together not the experience for their jobs yet. In Hill we trust that he’s seen something in 10 days we haven’t seen all season.
December 7, 2021 at 7:32 pm #218937Hippolyte’s been one of our better players in recent months. Make of that what you will!
December 7, 2021 at 7:39 pm #218938Could be a 4-2-3-1 maybe or 4-1-4-1, either would mean Rowe out of position.
December 7, 2021 at 7:54 pm #218940Great start…absolutely pathetic defending from O’Malley and Pugh!
December 7, 2021 at 9:42 pm #218943Not a bad point, but we now need to turn draws into wins.
December 7, 2021 at 9:44 pm #218944That was a match that would have been a defeat under Cox. The Iron much the better team in the second half.
I’m thinking that the priority in January must be a competent striker, and I’m certain that it will be a big and nasty target man. Then we could well see more than just L2 survival, perhaps even a mid table finish.
Still trying to live the dream!

December 7, 2021 at 9:46 pm #218945That was dire –
two pub teams playing each other. Counted 15 passes by Millen without finding his man. Even O’Malley was garbage. Stevenage were just as bad. People will say a point away is good but it won’t keep us up – against gash like that we need 3 points not one. None of these players are league standard on that showing (both sides – maybe List)Taft is a liability – needs binning as soon as possible
December 7, 2021 at 9:51 pm #218946Much fitter clearly, players were still running at the end. It’s better, but as Mick says above, need to turn some of these draws into 3 points, specially against the teams round us. Think LK’s right, we’d have lost that with Coxy at the helm.
Progress though, but a decent January needed. Or a bloody miracle!

December 7, 2021 at 9:54 pm #218947So what would you say about Miles? Seems he likes playing just behind two strikers.
Also the Iron have almost looked to wave the white flag after going 1 – 0 down. This time we score just eight minutes later.
I’m certain that there are at least two teams worse than ours in this league. But then I always was a glass half full type.
December 7, 2021 at 9:56 pm #218950Can’t believe Green gets the nod ahead of Scrimshaw or even Loft. Or even the club cat.
Surprised it took 45 minutes!
