Clunan is what we’ve missed since Bish left. It’s not a conincidence form dipped without him.

October 25, 2023 at 11:01 am #275863…more so i hope non of the first team regulars leave as mentioned by Chris Plummer on the club website ..be a real shame.
It’s possible that the new board will feel it necessary to reduce outgoings by reducing squad size. As has been said many times we are top heavy for a NLN team.
Any transfer fee received would also be welcome you would think. Sadly some of the higher earners might be encouraged to contact their agents. In our current situation we will have to accept some unpopular decisions, we have been warned already.1 user thanked author for this post.
October 25, 2023 at 11:18 am #275864According to Hilton’s statement our monthly wage bill was 130k with between 50-70k brought in my gate money.
It would be naive to think at least a few won’t leaving in the upcoming months. We could lose at least 2/3 midfielders without it impacting performances too much

October 25, 2023 at 1:38 pm #275865Doubt anyone could afford to leave, Butterfield and Wilson had a look and realized they were better off here, maybe plead to their conscience for the good of the club, Butterfield seems decent and maybe could be persuaded plus the loanees. Ps Cliff don’t forget nigh on 1500 season ticket holders that the new owner won’t see a penny from.

October 25, 2023 at 1:53 pm #275868Sembie ferris, Pugh and send Jenkins back would cut it down, wouldn’t it ?. I just hope after seeing what we saw last night, we don’t send Smith back or cash in on Butterfield.

October 25, 2023 at 2:08 pm #275869I would hope any leavers won’t weaken the team, Butterfield will be a top earner but has to stay. Unfortunately I doubt Pugh & DSF will save much and we don’t know the terms of the loans. Were they just to cover injuries – Clunan & Law now fit and Beestin & Roberts close.
Can we afford Chapman when he doesn’t make the squad? We need a No2 but there must be a cheaper option or rely on an emergency loan.
Was Bennett signed as a Whitehall replacement, York reportedly interested.
Was Barrows signed as we expected Ogle to leave?October 25, 2023 at 2:32 pm #275870Always remembering that this is full-time squad. Many in the league aren’t!
October 25, 2023 at 2:36 pm #275871As Chris Plummer said in his post match interview other clubs are going to want the players we most want to keep.
We could all come up with 3 or 4 squad players that we could probably afford to lose but there won’t be an orderly queue of suitors. Particularly if they are on deals that are generous relative to their ability.
Probably better to decide the players we would not consider allowing to leave.
For me that list would be:
Fitzsimons
Kouogan
Denton
Evans
Clunan
Butterfield
ScalesOctober 25, 2023 at 2:39 pm #275872Nothing against the rest of the squad by the way. I would keep the lot if we can get 5000 through the gate every home match.
It’s just I think the ones listed could play in a decent L2 side tomorrow.
October 25, 2023 at 2:53 pm #275873MK .. i would add Ogle and Kelly to your list
October 25, 2023 at 3:29 pm #275877Beestin and Law should be on the to keep list IMO. Then which of the forwards would people most like to keep, if push came to shove, for me it would be Whitehall.
October 25, 2023 at 3:51 pm #275878False economy getting rid of anyone at the moment we are there or there abouts, have a look in January and see where we are, keep winning and the crowds will build and build, since when have clubs had to rely on gate money to get by anyway , 12 clubs in our league are getting by on less than 1000 average attendance and must be relying on owners to keep them afloat, I expect mine to do the same. We won’t keep getting the crowds we get at the moment if we’re stuck in this league for to long.
October 25, 2023 at 4:21 pm #275879Or they could have part time players getting a fraction of what ours are earning.
Around 25 full timers plus management and associated jobs versus 20 P/T and vastly less non playing/management staff.
Just a thought.October 25, 2023 at 5:16 pm #275880It depends on how much the new owners are willing or able to subsidise.
Going off the figures in the public domain- Currently, we are approximately 70k short of paying the wage bill and that doesn’t includes servicing the debt nor operational costs. It a safe assumption we are losing 100k a month.
How long can that go on for? Crowds will not cover the costs unfortunately.
October 25, 2023 at 6:10 pm #275881Don’t forget to factor in the money raised by the commercial department, it’s a tough one to figure out I know but it’s another source of money coming in particularly if a lot of company contributions come in monthly.
October 25, 2023 at 7:45 pm #275884Sponsorship has normally brought in more than the gate receipts, then there’s the the new club lottery on the way, catering and hospitality, so should go somewhere to us surviving.
October 25, 2023 at 8:49 pm #275888As said above I hope we only lose the players we can afford to lose. Sembie ferris, Pugh, Jenkins back to leeds and off loading Carver on a perm to Southport.
I suppose we could lose Barrows but that leaves us short at RB cover. To further save money we could attempt to off load Chapman as mentioned above and draft in a much cheaper young loan player. I imagine Chapman been on a fair whack as he was originally brought in as our number 1.
Fitzsimmons is miles above Chapman so I wouldn’t be against it.

October 25, 2023 at 9:39 pm #275890Think Chapman would welcome a move as he originally joined to get regular first team football at this stage of his career, well be ain’t getting that at the moment.
October 26, 2023 at 10:58 am #275915Was going to suggest Rory but I see he’s doing the biz at York, nice to see him keeping his record up 2 games played 7 conceded.

I believe that you have just answered your own question.
Has anything really changed?
We still don’t have an owner that can and is willing to bankroll us.
It looks as if we are still heading for the buffers?

Department… would that be – one man and his dog spot?

Tbh Rene, there’s not a lot of info available right now.
Just waiting and hoping we get third time lucky.
October 26, 2023 at 10:33 pm #275936Things have definitely changed, but you can’t turnaround the dogs mess that complete and utter t*** left within a few weeks. At least we know we have good people doing their best to put the club on a surer footing. The financial situation may not have improved much yet but there’s a better prospect of it improving under the new regime.
