Getting better and better. Looking like (a rare nowadays) top signing. Do we need someone creative/weighing in with a few goals alongside him though? Or are we happy with Beestin and rely on the wide players/front 2/3. A bit like the Liverpool way.
November 21, 2020 at 12:46 pm #197845Totally agree.
November 21, 2020 at 1:14 pm #197847Would have liked a Matty Lund or Ryan Yates type in there but beggars can’t be choosers.
Maybe Taylor is up to it given a bit more experience behind him but Beeston and Spence are looking decent at the moment.
Anything to keep Gilliead and Eisa out wide.
November 21, 2020 at 2:38 pm #197851Having Matty Lund in there would make us so much better right now, he’s on fire this season…think he’s scored 6 already!
I like Spence though and think Beestin is decent. Neither are a patch on Lund though.

Thought we looked a bit more dangerous with Spence on the right and Gilliead inside this afternoon.
Spence is fine but I prefer Beestin on current showing.November 21, 2020 at 8:36 pm #197882I think Beestin looks a really good player..he’s got a much more well rounded game than Spence. Spence is really good at the ugly side but Beestin is also good in being a spoiler but he’s got a pretty good range of passing to his game.
Going from worrying about the CM to having Spence and Beestin in there is miles better. I think they work really well in there.
Beestin and Spence wont be 100% match fit yet either.
Upfront worries me though. Loft does his bit but without Kev we really do struggle to create anything. Their RB today pretty much dominated Eisa which didn’t help the struggle in creating chances.
Eisa, instead of cutting inside all the time needs to go around the outside of his FB, he has the pace but never usually does it.
To be fair to Morecambe though you can tell why they have the best away record in lg 2, really solid but have a few decent players in their team as well.
Shame we couldn’t hold out but 7 from 9 points is pretty impressive and things are coming together now.
Cox said Kev was suffering with Sciatica so hope that settles down…he was brought off as a precaution so fingers crossed he should be alright for Tuesday night.

He was terrible yesterday, just kept running inside and losing the ball. Their right back was good but Eisa needs to be a bit brighter and try to ask different questions of the defender.
November 22, 2020 at 8:16 pm #197914Couldn’t understand why Elisa and gillead didn’t swap wings when Elisa was in their right backs pocket.
November 22, 2020 at 10:40 pm #197915Sorry to say that Eisa is a one trick pony as far as his wing play is concerned – run as fast as he can until he’s level with the edge of the penalty area, then cut inside of the full back and shoot with his right foot. He needs to add more to his repertoire if he wants a lengthy career in league football.
November 23, 2020 at 9:47 am #197929Little point going on the outside and getting a cross in if we only have one in the box as usual. As there’s seldom anybody in front of him to pass to either the shot is really his only option. If he scores 20 a season doing that he’ll be OK.
November 23, 2020 at 11:31 am #197934Chicken and egg Cass – who’s going to make the run if they know the cross won’t come?
Eisa was good at Oldham, he got down the outside a few times and really made life hard for their defence at times. The full-back marking him should have been sent off for hacking him down in the second half, a sure sign Eisa was well on top.
But Saturday’s performance was really disappointing.

Two fair points.
November 23, 2020 at 5:40 pm #197962Arjen Robben did OK for being a one trick pony cutting inside onto his left foot. If it works, it works.
November 23, 2020 at 6:03 pm #197965Chicken and egg Cass – who’s going to make the run if they know the cross won’t come?
Disagree with this, if you are a forward you should bust a gut every time to make a run into the box hoping for the cross, it’s your job it’s what you get paid for its called being a professional footballer. The most successful forwards gamble all the time on making runs which sometimes are fruitless, ours should be no different.
November 23, 2020 at 6:05 pm #197966The disagree bit is my contribution, guess I cocked the edit up, I was busting a gut to post. 😂
November 24, 2020 at 8:45 am #197988I’m sorry I drove you to such excitement IA!
You’re right to a point but footballers only have so much energy – why waste it on fruitless runs into the box when you know the ball isn’t going to come?

You’re right to a point but footballers only have so much energy – why waste it on fruitless runs into the box when you know the ball isn’t going to come?
Because fruitless runs into the box are part of a forwards job. Lineker said that nine out of ten runs into the box got him nothing but the tenth got him a goal, gambling, taking a chance, busting a gut to get there is all part of the job description. Does Eisa never put a ball into the box from open play?, answer is no, it’s the forwards job to gamble and also bend Eisas ear occasionally on service for him in the box. Not got the energy!!!! that isn’t even an argument, they are bloody professional footballers FFS.
November 24, 2020 at 10:01 am #197998Do you remember Dagnall? Used to run all over the place, chasing back into his own box at time, never stopped working. He also missed lots of chances because he was breathing out of his backside from all the running around!
Lineker was a master at conserving energy and just making the runs he needed to make. Unfortunately, these days forwards are asked to do so much more work with “pressing” and so on that Lineker wouldn’t have been able to play like that these days.
November 24, 2020 at 10:18 am #197999Having the same forward line two games in a row might help.
November 24, 2020 at 10:42 am #198001Having a forward line that scored goals would be better.
November 24, 2020 at 10:51 am #198003Reckon we’re into Ferrite’s “chicken and egg” territory now Mick!
November 24, 2020 at 12:01 pm #198004Loft – scored, KVV – scored, Hallam – scored, McAtee – scored, Eisa – scored, Olomola – scored.
The number of forwards scoring is not a problem, the number of scoring by the forwards is.
CM yet to open their account.November 24, 2020 at 12:02 pm #198005Reckon we’re into Ferrite’s “chicken and egg” territory now Mick!
How about an omelette as a compromise, with fried bacon topping plus cheese of course.
November 24, 2020 at 12:14 pm #198008but say 1 or 2 each in a total of around 16 matches isn’t exactly a lot Cass.
