How the hell Pugh got 2 full games without contributing anything of note baffles me.
I understand the need for rotation over the Easter weekend but Corbett & Clarke hardly got a look in. Has next seasons recruiter made up his mind?
As an aside, I thought Southport’s Umami was quite tasty.1 user thanked author for this post.
April 1, 2024 at 9:13 pm #283611Every game looks the same to me.
Whatever Pugh might appear to be not contributing it feels to me that we don’t lose when he plays. Since January I can only remember South Shields away being a game we lost when Pugh played and he was subbed off halfway through the second half.April 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm #283614“I can only remember” really means you just had a look at his stats on transfermarkt, doesn’t it? ;)
April 1, 2024 at 11:03 pm #283615A good 3 points today against a strugging Southport team, although it took 90 min before we scored our first goal in 5 hours play. Why the hell does Dean insist on playing his one up front system?????, when he changed it with 15 mins to go, we were a different team, and why doesn;t some high management to change his stupid system to 4-4-2, obviously Scunthorpe have the better players, so for Christ sake we need three wins in our remaining three matches, and hope that Chorly and Brackley drop points in one of their remaining games, with Chorley having 3 of their 4 remaining ngames away from home, the key second spot is still possible, but Dean must change his one up front diisaster.

April 2, 2024 at 1:09 am #283617Said it a million times before, two strikers is the way to go and Elliot gave them all sorts of problems when partnered with Whitehall. More than enough quality in this squad to play 4 4 2 formation. I’d even go for a 4/3/1/2 formation and have Roberts in the no 10 role feeding both Elliot and Whitehall with Butterfield and Scales with Beestin or Pugh in CM alongside them.

April 2, 2024 at 9:10 am #283620Forgot to mention earlier but can’t let it pass without comment.
The stream yesterday left much to be desired. Pictures varied between just acceptable, looking through the wrong end of a telescope and looking through the bottom of a beer glass that had been emptied several times. Really not good enough, was the ‘cameraman’ a 15yo on work experience during the Easter break. Commentary? (was it) almost unintelligible.
Cracking result though!!3 users thanked author for this post.
April 2, 2024 at 9:32 am #283622agree about the pictures Cass, reminded me of going to see us at Newcastle at the back of that massive stand, but thought the commentary was pretty fair
April 2, 2024 at 9:49 am #283623I’ve given up with National League tv. £9.50 a month would be acceptable but for every game it is rip off for what is provided. It was only about £13 for an actual ticket at Southport (I know there’s transport etc etc).
Stuck with radio jumbleside for away games and that commentator, Alex, hasn’t been too bad and seems to be able to actually pronounce players names reasonably. I enjoy hearing Torpeys various versions of Sembie-Ferris, he seems to have settled on Semble-Ferris for the last couple of games. Better when Ollie Turner does the post match interview, he asks some good questions and there’s some tension between him and Dean.April 2, 2024 at 9:58 am #283625“I can only remember” really means you just had a look at his stats on transfermarkt, doesn’t it? ;)
It means from what I can remember watching the actual games and discussions with my real life, actual Scunthorpe supporter friends and family at the time or afterwards.
The main discussion being around Clunan and Pugh and that we don’t seem to get good results lately with Clunan but don’t seem to lose with Pugh.April 2, 2024 at 10:47 am #283628I’ve given up with National League tv. £9.50 a month would be acceptable but for every game it is rip off for what is provided. Should have made it clear I had the Southport commentary, I guess you had RH. I’m not bright enough to know how to do that.
April 2, 2024 at 11:26 am #283631Can’t be worse than v Warrington can it? Thought the RH commentary was okay yesterday. Tried syncing up NLTV footage and RH commentary but the latter is predictably about a minute ahead of the footage.
April 2, 2024 at 11:44 am #283632Just dont get JDs thought process… who everchooses n decides who comes in it seems rather strange…

The 89th winner in no way clouds my opinion as to just how crap weve been against KLT n noe Southport.. playoff win is pie in the sky on these performance levels
