March 27, 2025 at 8:07 am #300862Wow. A thread about football.
March 27, 2025 at 8:14 am #300863David Morgan appointed as (interim) Player Manager the same day.
March 27, 2025 at 8:17 am #300864Praise be to Rene !
Maybe a return for Whitehall at some point ?March 27, 2025 at 8:37 am #300865Praise be to Rene !
Maybe a return for Whitehall at some point ?I’m starting to think he’ll never come back.
March 27, 2025 at 8:47 am #300866Could be that he has played his last game for us and expectations are being carefully managed.

Butler gave an interview on 27 February boasting that he could be back in two weeks. It’s been a month and still no sign.
March 27, 2025 at 8:53 am #300868Maybe they aren’t as bad as their league position would suggest?
Marcus Carver joined (Weds 19th March) Northern Premier League – Premier Division side Ashton United on loan until the end of the season.
Danny Lloyd is having a good season for them with a 1:3 goal ratio.
It could be a lot harder game than the bookies are suggesting.

Maybe a deal done (in principle) already and the ‘new’ club wanting their investment protected?

I can’t see Butler or anyone else at the Club sanctioning this.

Just speculation / hypothesising / guessing.
Probably just a straightforward injury… but you never know?

I think we have probably made about 5 or 6 defensive schoolboy errors that have gifted the opposition a goal all season.
3 of these came in the away game at Southport in a game we were totally dominant until the crazy stuff began.
Each of our 3 centre backs gifted them a goal. A pretty average to poor team otherwise. New manager bounce perhaps?

March 27, 2025 at 10:59 am #300881Their record v Iron (@Scunny)
League:
P16 W3 D5 L8 Gf11 Ga19 Gd-8Cup:
P1 W0 D0 L1 Gf0 Ga2 Gd-2The most frequently occurring scores are:
Iron 1-0… 5 times
Iron 2-0… 3 times
1-1… 3 timesPressures on. A scrappy 1-0 win thanks to that man… CR10
If he’s here next season, how about giving him the no7 shirt?
March 27, 2025 at 11:04 am #300882I’d have been happier with a new manager bounce after that loss it was disgusting.

March 27, 2025 at 11:36 am #300883We’ll hammer them
March 27, 2025 at 11:37 am #300884In the unlikely event that CR10 is still with us next season I would let him have any shirt he wants.

March 27, 2025 at 12:17 pm #300887In light of the news threatening the existence of British Steel the town needs a lift and Saturday could help a lot.
Bright and Breezy attacking football coupled with a good result can go a long way to help.
March 27, 2025 at 12:56 pm #300888Back when the Steel Industry was threatened in Germany Borussia Dortmund offered Steelworkers free tickets and backing.
We’re saying you can come for a Tenner.
That’s a complete insult to be honest. They can give away a load to “Tickets for Troops” and other bodies but won’t support those who are part of the fabric and history of the town.
March 27, 2025 at 1:38 pm #300890How long would you offer free tickets to steelworkers for CMC, just a one off gesture this week or until the steelworks shut?

For this game. Pack the park, what have they got to lose?
March 27, 2025 at 1:49 pm #300893Is it actually going to close in June or is this a tactical gun to the government’s head by Jingye?

They’re looking more subsidy to move onto this green steel proposal that’s how it reads to me.

That’s what it looks like to me, too. A bit of (very strong) bullying going on over increasing subsidies.

£500m more than what the government has offered and…
The company is starting a formal consultation with its workforce and unions over three options:
The closure of the blast furnaces, steelmaking operations and Scunthorpe Rod Mill by early June 2025
The closure of the blast furnaces and steelmaking operations in September 2025
The closure of the blast furnaces and steelmaking operations at a future point beyond September 2025.’

Absolutely nothing on a one off game showing goodwill to the steel working force of our town, also good PR after the debacle of the last few days regarding future club funding.

March 27, 2025 at 3:07 pm #300901Johnson’s government kept the place open while in administration for a year.
Now it’s time for this government to standup and keep the blast furnaces open so we can keep the last virgin steel maker operational. or go green and let the Chinese and Indians pollute the f out of everything.
I know which stance our government will take! “bye bye blast furnaces”Wonder what little lord fauntleroy (Dakin) will have to say not much I guess. Just the normal platitudes.
More of a reason for the club to stop trying to squeeze everything they can from their fan base.March 27, 2025 at 3:13 pm #300902The original talks between government and owners was for a half a billion hand out but it is now a billion being asked for. Just shows what the actions of an orange faced idiot can do.
March 27, 2025 at 3:48 pm #300906The outcome doesn’t look good- may be a negotiation ploy as suggested but the place is haemorrhaging money and has continued to do so despite resuming a 2 BF operation since Xmas.
Talks of taking one furnace offline soon which will pretty much put a nail in the coffin for many on site.
Not a good day for the town.

More of a reason for the club to stop trying to squeeze everything they can from their fan base.Day by day, our country slips further into the abyss!
I read an article early this morning on the plight of the Scunny works.Electric arc furnace steelmaking – that’ll see the majority of the work force laid off.
They say it’s losing £700k a day. £5M a week. That’s a lot of money.
When it goes, we’ll have lost our fishing, mining, steel and mill industries – we ain’t got much left of farming either.
Country is on its arse.
Plenty of hand car washes, Turkish barbers and fast food joints.
You couldn’t make it up! -
