October 25, 2024 at 1:50 pm #292279I think these tables provide as good an analysis of teams rather than me trawling through video footage. Southport are a decent side, especially at home and this provides AB with a dilemma. Does he go with the same team as Tuesday night and play two tall guys up top, or will he shore up midfield ( with the return of Scales) and withdraw the wing backs 20yards? Decisions, Decisions!!!
October 25, 2024 at 2:03 pm #292280He was happy with the point at Chester, the one he set up to achieve. I would expect similar tomorrow making a mockery of his “I want to win every game” assertion.

October 25, 2024 at 2:37 pm #292281It’s possible to set up not to concede and still get a couple of goals. Not sure how that makes a mockery of claiming to want to win every game. Every manager wants to win every game, but they’re not stupid enough to think they will. If he’d claimed he would then I would agree with you.
October 25, 2024 at 2:53 pm #292282Anyone expecting a gung ho approach after Tuesday nights deserved home win is going to be disappointed, most managers treat every game differently and Butler will be weighing up all his options for us to win but to be defensively tight aswell. One defeat in the league so far this season is testament to his measured way of thinking game to game,he’s more considered in the way he views matches then scatter brained JD IMO.
October 25, 2024 at 3:02 pm #292283I’m thinking a draw.

October 25, 2024 at 3:19 pm #292284Be good to see young fish get another start, sounds like he had a good game on Tuesday.
Our poor run lately has allowed a few sides within touching distance, I have a sneaky suspicion Curzon could be the new Tamworth this year and be right up there, have to look at putting another 3/4 wins together consecutively

You’re right, setting up defensively could still sneak a win – but does it give him the best chance of doing so?
October 25, 2024 at 7:02 pm #292287Sneaky 1-0 win in both games against them last season, would be delighted with another tomorrow!
October 26, 2024 at 12:56 pm #292290Thinking on AB’s dilemma, I’d stick with the same team as Tuesday with the exception of rotating Boyce for Nicholson. That should ensure we have the height to deal with their set piece threat, but of course, we still lack a tall guy in midfield. If we knock the ball long, Fishburn and Whitehall should give us enough to get kickbacks to Roberts or Beestin. Don’t expect much to be going out wide, as I think we will be five at the back ( six with Clunan sitting in). Head says draw, heart hopes we nick it by the odd goal!
October 26, 2024 at 2:10 pm #292291Will be decided by the energy in the pre match managers instructions.
Hope it is us that dictate from the start.
October 26, 2024 at 3:57 pm #292292Listening to Humberside Commentary.
1-0 with a Roberts Free Kick, the fans are singing the Manager’s name, that can’t be right, can it?
Then it’s 1-1 a few mins later.
More of the same, really: As much as the manager and his coaches can do, some of Jimmy’s Mercanaries can turn up, loaf around and still get paid because nobody else can afford to or want to take them. Sad state of affairs but there we are!October 26, 2024 at 4:13 pm #292294October 26, 2024 at 4:19 pm #29229555 min Southport 1-2 Scunthorpe
Whitehall nudges us ahead.October 26, 2024 at 4:22 pm #29229660 min Southport 2-2 Scunthorpe
October 26, 2024 at 4:23 pm #292297Flippin eck!
Literally a minute later!

Jesus!October 26, 2024 at 4:29 pm #292299Cracking game sounds very entertaining.
October 26, 2024 at 4:31 pm #2923003 efforts 3 goals by the sounds of it
October 26, 2024 at 4:45 pm #292304Quadrupled the number of away goals we’ve conceded all season in just 15 minutes! Madness!
October 26, 2024 at 4:49 pm #292306Sickening.
October 26, 2024 at 5:06 pm #292307Yes but we’re still top of the league, oh wait.
October 26, 2024 at 5:07 pm #292309Not even in the top two!
October 26, 2024 at 5:09 pm #292310October 26, 2024 at 5:10 pm #292312October 26, 2024 at 5:12 pm #292313We had over 100 dangerous attacks, over 20 shots with nine on target. Southport had three on target so where was our defence?

October 26, 2024 at 5:40 pm #292314Sorry but AB’s selection was set up not loose again, and ……
Boyce for Nicholson only logical change. When are we going to start imposing ourselves.
Curzon had no difficulty disposing of Chester yet we went to Chester looking for a draw. Not looking like Champs with this mind set5 users thanked author for this post.
October 26, 2024 at 5:47 pm #292316Are we looking anyway nearer champs this season than last season?
For me not a chance tbh.

October 26, 2024 at 6:12 pm #292323We’ll finish seventh and do “a Boston”!
October 26, 2024 at 6:26 pm #292328At least the Iron can put it right next Saturday in the FA Cup. Oh, we’re not in it are we. Well against the mighty Radcliffe. Wow!
October 26, 2024 at 7:45 pm #292336Sounds like we played reasonably well and mistakes seemed to cost us rather than tactics/formation- on this occasion.
Still a dreadful result though, we had a decent opportunity to maintain the gap but now we are part of the pack. I fear Curzon are going to take some stopping, we simply cannot afford to have such indifferent form.
4 times this season we have dropped points from a winning position too, today 2 minutes after we scored both times – better leadership required on the pitch.
