Tough test this one. Watched Shields at trinity last year; good side and actually come to play football. They’ve made a good start at this level and would not be surprised if they are our main challengers for the title. Full time outfit too.
Smith straight in for scales for me. Be interesting to see Whitehall and Elliot up front together with 11 men on the field too.
Iron 1-1 S.Shields

September 3, 2023 at 7:31 pm #271010This game will give us an idea as to where we are in this league definitely a decent side and no fluke beating us in the cup.
Still think more than capable of winning this game 2-1 iron Att 3685 102 away fansSeptember 3, 2023 at 7:41 pm #271011Know a few Sanddancers who’ll give me a right good ribbing if they beat us.
So that’s what I’m expecting!
1-2.
September 3, 2023 at 9:02 pm #2710123-1 to us. They may be a good side at this level but we’re not really a team of this level. In pure ability we’re easy a top end national league side.
I know results aren’t gained on ability alone but I think we’ll have too much for them with 11 men on the pitch when we’re playing at home. Smith looks a player as well so no doubt he’ll be chomping at the bit to impress in front of the home fans.

September 3, 2023 at 9:45 pm #271014Starting to learn about the physicality needed. Team will cope easier as they do this.
September 3, 2023 at 10:16 pm #271015It will possibly be a tough game for Scunny, but after saying that, it will probably be a tougher one for South Sheilds. We need 3 points from this game, as we really lost 2 points on Saturday due to the ref and the red card, and with Connor Snith in the team, there should be more chances of scoring goals.
So my forcast is Scunny 3 South Sheilds 1.
Attendance of 3,488, which for a mid-week fixture in this league, is a cracking turn out, considering the fans had turned out in force for the game at Alfreton three days ago.
Wish I could have been there, but will watch it on my computer all being well.
Enjoy the game guys and lets hope for 3 points.

September 4, 2023 at 1:40 am #271019Should be an open game and goals in this one for sure.
Heart says 3-2 Scunny
Head says 3-2 SS

They average a goal a game away.
So:Iron 3-1 Mariners @ 12/1
Once again, the shortest priced score cast is 1-1 at odds of 11/2
September 4, 2023 at 10:32 am #271028…as we really lost 2 points on Saturday due to the ref and the red card
I’d put Fitzsimmons above those two. No way that 1st goal should be getting past him!

Yeah after watching the highlight vid Fitz was shocking to concede their first goal from that distance …however he did make a couple cracking saves as well when their guy was through n in on goal.
Reading the NL fans group its mentioned SSDS do take decent numbers away so could well surpass the 4000 mark on Tuesday.
im sticking to my 3-2 prediction ..just not sure who to …YET
September 4, 2023 at 11:06 am #271031Fitz had the first goal covered but it took a deflection, should have done better with the second, second goal he’s let in at the near post.

Must admit to no noticing a deflection for their first goal i thought it had just swerved n turned in flight n caught Fitz flat footed.
September 4, 2023 at 11:43 am #271034Right behind it IFA, mentioned in the report as well.

A few of us were bang on with 3-1
September 5, 2023 at 10:05 pm #271107Could have been a cricket score first half, then wtf was that second half playing for a 2-1. Thought Whitehall was outstanding.
September 5, 2023 at 10:15 pm #271108THAT was a very good display, well done everyone.
September 5, 2023 at 10:18 pm #271109Different perspective from the Shields commentary.
Julio got them fired up at halftime to go out and get the equaliser. Put the Iron under pressure but ultimately fell short.

You need to start putting bets on. Correct score and 11 out with the crowd.
Superb in parts tonight; really should have put them to bed first half. Think the 2nd half there was a lot of tired legs out there after Saturday, the subs seemed to give us a boost and we were worthy of the 3-1 scoreline. Would definitely change it up on Saturday as the eventhough we are still early in the season, so many games in a short space of time could soon catch up with us.
Excellent result though tonight, we won’t play many better than S.shields this year

September 5, 2023 at 11:29 pm #271114I enjoyed watchinng the gameon my computer, and a big well done to the players and management. Also a very good turn out by the Scunny faithfuls who again made up a very good mid-week attendance. Scunny played really well during the first 30 min, but that offside goal appeared to knock a bit of fight out of them, and after the second half kick off South Shields played veery well for half an hour, but Scunny controlled the match overall aND COULD HAVE HAD A COUPLE MORE GOALS DURING THAT FIRST HAlf.
I am also very pleased to have got the 3-1 score forcast correct once more, and being just 14 supporters out with the gate count feel that my Prediction League forcasting record has not dipped ha ha!So back to the top of the league, and could possibly keep that position for a good while, so well done all round guys, because you have waited a long time for some enjoyment and entertainment.
September 6, 2023 at 7:01 am #271116After a very good 1st half performance I spent most of the 2nd half nervously waiting for the equaliser which I honestly felt was coming until we got the penalty.
Fitzsimmons distribution was excellent once again, also thought Evans was superb and my MOM.

September 6, 2023 at 8:39 am #271121Apart from Saturday’s fumble, Fitz. is a very reliable ‘keeper who distributes the ball very well, often leading to goals.
