What sort of a team do we expect to put out. No news on Butterfield, Boyce or Marsh.
Will Apter be allowed to play?
Will we underestimate them and rest key players?
Dare we send out an attacking line up?
Will the kids be given the job?
Good luck Tony!1 user thanked author for this post.
October 13, 2022 at 11:16 am #246636Cass, I am trying to come to terms with your statement of “will we rest key players”, just who are these players, knowing that even in non-league, we have managed ONE WIN IN THE LAST ELEVEN MATCHES.

October 13, 2022 at 11:47 am #246638Make that 2 wins in 13,unbeaten in the last 6, 6 points out the last 12.
October 13, 2022 at 12:33 pm #246639Tony Daws will want to be in the next round. It means a winning cheque. So I can see a strong team of fully fit players. Expecting to see some of our younger players on the bench. Such as Sellers-Fleming, Wallace and Poulter.
Not sure how many subs we are allowed to have on the bench in this.
October 13, 2022 at 1:55 pm #246640I’m a bit gutted I can’t get down to this game, it should be fun. There’s no question it should be a priority, there’s money to be made from the cup and we cannot afford (literally!) to be sniffy about that!

October 13, 2022 at 2:29 pm #246641They have had some good results this season, won’t be a push over ,will be wanting to take our scalp..might be another early exit for us,but that’s nothing new.need to be focused some cash to be gained for progressing.
October 13, 2022 at 3:07 pm #246644Been 4 years since we earned any prize money from the FA cup, guaranteed money even if we lose this one, yippee.
October 13, 2022 at 4:45 pm #246662We need to put our strongest side out and go for a win, we need a winning mentality not a drawing or losing one.

October 13, 2022 at 5:12 pm #246663Daws saying some academy players will be involved doesnt sound to me as though we will be putting our strongest side out. Get ready to chalk up yet another day of embarrassment come Saturday.

October 13, 2022 at 6:34 pm #246666Be ridiculous if it’s not the strongest 11- whatever that is these days. We desperately need a win and more importantly the money.

October 13, 2022 at 8:10 pm #246670A draw wouldn’t be the end of the world I’ll be happy with that, not like we’re playing well for 90 mins in any game this season, Daws highlighted we will have a poor team out against them, going more in hope than expectation.

October 13, 2022 at 10:07 pm #246672According to Daws not much of a team this weekend

October 14, 2022 at 8:36 am #246676if Daws deliberately rests players to give the kids a chance he deserves the sack

October 14, 2022 at 9:11 am #246678Unbeaten in six games and he may get sacked after Saturday, sounds about right for Scunny. 😂

October 14, 2022 at 9:14 am #246679Well after reading the latest updates it looks like the “best” team we can field would be:-
Dewhurst
Rowe Taft/Young Nlthe
Ogle Beestin Whitehouse O’Malley
Lavery Nuttall Daniel
Bench – 5 youngstersOctober 14, 2022 at 9:25 am #246681Not sure what all the gnashing of teeth by some about team selection is all about, we have players injured and have been three players short in the squad all season so what is the manager meant to do? I am sure he will pick what he considers is his best available eleven and if that includes a few youngsters plus others on the bench to make up the numbers because of circumstances, so be it. Just get on with it.

I think it’s fairly straightforward: if we have injuries, so be it, but if we choose to rest players then that’s not going to be a popular choice among fans, judging by the attitudes on this thread.

October 14, 2022 at 12:58 pm #246690Do we want to stay in the FA Cup or stay in the National League?
Answers on a postcard.

October 14, 2022 at 1:13 pm #246693It’s the financial reward more than anything; we are living hand to mouth and progressing to the next round could be the difference in keeping someone like Nuttall in January.

October 14, 2022 at 1:19 pm #246694chance what we need to win a game, we know Boyce and Butterfield are doubtful after last Saturday, but we need to put our best available side out, I think Iron-awe is getting the wrong end of the stick, we need to try to win this game to give supporters and players a lift no good going there with the result doesn’t matter attitude, it seems like forever since we won a Cup game and I know draws aren’t bad but we could and should have won some of these recent draws.

October 14, 2022 at 1:27 pm #246695Butterfield definitely out (7 day ruling on head injuries) and Apter and Pugh cup-tied.
Possibility of both Taft and Boyce missing too.
Not looking great!
October 14, 2022 at 1:51 pm #246696I want to stay in the FA cup just for a morale booster like Mick says, financially it’s only worth an extra £6250 if we win plus gate receipts from the first round proper unless we win again of course, who am i trying to kid? Lol.

Since when was Scunthorpe United one of those entitled clubs that believes it can pick and choose which games it wins?
October 14, 2022 at 3:14 pm #246705No wrong end of the stick from me, senior players injured, three players short in the squad all season plus Apter and Pugh cup tied, go figure.

October 14, 2022 at 7:44 pm #246724Going tomorrow first time for a long time away this will be a proper test good side always around the top of the division well backed.
Score prediction 5 3 not sure which one of us winsOctober 15, 2022 at 11:37 am #246748Not going today due to work otherwise would have been. Hope those attending give a good backing and get a decent showing in return. Will be listening to the commentary. UTI

Tbh Daws isn’t the answer only the cheap option.
He will be manager all season I’d guess which is another good reason not to turn up and watch turgid offerings1 user thanked author for this post.
October 15, 2022 at 4:10 pm #246766We make hard work of chances, they have one real chance and score because we switched off again.
October 15, 2022 at 4:11 pm #246767It shows how low we have become, hard work.

October 15, 2022 at 4:44 pm #246768It’s always been hard work all season, that’s why we never put in a ninety minute performance and today looks like another example.
