Are staying, and we have turned a offer down for Ogle from Oldham, and agreed a fee for Foster after turning one down from a Championship team

Foster’s departure was to be expected but didn’t see that coming with Butterfield and Wilson. Especially regarding Wilson staying. I thought he was long gone !

Another 3 additional players we are hoping to sign next week. Carver is rightly moving on. I can see a few others moving on as well to make way. I can’t see Boyce staying e.t.c

Butterfield, age and wage would put most off. Wilson didn’t help himself when he spat his dummy out at the end of the season. Attitude
Needs to change. Both must have been trying to find another club.
You have to prove you are worth it not think you are good enough.

Once again we find ourselves with too many centre mids; would imagine Robertson will be going out on loan. Perhaps time for pastures new for Beestin?

Butterfield will be a tricky one- I could never figure out his best position. If Dean can solve that puzzle then it will scary what he will do at the level.

Wilson staying with us could be a shrewd move for both parties, it’s worth bearing in mind that Dean was critical of him during the fans forum. How that relationship pans out will be interesting.

Ogle had a good season with us last year, but a full back is usually the position of least concern; if we can get a relatively good few for him then I wouldn’t stand in his way.

3 more due to arrive next week. Right back, striker and a left back should just about do it

If we win the league it will be because of Deans management skills. All the praise will go to him. Come on Jimmy ,the new Brian Laws!

Wilson had offers elsewhere a lot higher than where we find ourselves now but with the players coming in wanted to stay put. Butterfield had offers too but wanted to stay due to the same reason.

Why another LB Cliff ?. Tyler Denton and Michael Kelly are both LB’s. Barrows is a RB as well so not sure we need another if we’re keeping Ogle.

In my opinion we need a left winger, another CB and a striker.

Butterfield will be staying‘As it stands’

He’s ‘Seemingly impressed’ with the ambition shown

Quotes from the Butterfield update… I still expect him to be going at some point.
I cant believe I’m saying this as he was one of the standout players for me last season and on his day he is outstanding but he’s a luxury player we probably don’t really need.
Wilson is good news as long as he genuinely wants to fight for the badge and work hard.
Ogle must be retained, he’s probably our best player.

If Denton can play there too than that should cover it; I’d be surprised to see Ogle here come August, if not then another RB won’t be required.

We currently have 6 centre backs in the books- can’t see another needed there

Marquee CF would be nice. Other than that I don’t think we need anyone else in the building.

Cliff we have Boyce, Ethan Young who probably won’t get much of a look in “probably send him out on loan”. Evans and Kouogun you would have thought first choice and 2 who can fill in there.

We only have 4 natural CB’s on the books and one of those will probably go out on loan. Hence why I think we need one more. Put it this way, we need another CB more than another LB, we have two of those already. They’re natural LB’s too.

Another striker is a must, as is a left sided attacker.

Is this believable? Surely a more probable scenario is that no offers have come in and the players want to save face, as stated above Butterfield’s wage could be a problem. Consider Wilson’s behaviour at the end of last season, is it likely that he turned down offers from “a lot higher” to stay here? Young players don’t normally lack ambition.

Can’t see anything else than Wilson being a bit time player not had many good 90mins but still handy to bring on to change the game, rather he’d gone If I’m honest him and Butterfield should share a wage Butterfield doesn’t last 90 mins anymore.

Oldham mate who is usually not far off the mark reckons they are gonna table an increased offer for Ogle..

Re Butterfield.. pleased he looks to be staying , as for Wilson na .. IMO his attitude end of last season was crap and should be let go as should Rance.

Rance was not satisfactory. We have long surmised that this was as a result of the effects of a previous injury.
Is it fair to judge him at this early stage?

I’m a bit concerned about how he’s going to manage a few ego’s in the squad who may not appreciate being a sub often in NLN. Also don’t want to see too much rotation that may result from that. If Dean’s not going to make it work I think we’ll know way before Christmas

I would bloody hope so Deerey, I’m one of them who are behind Dean but even I know he’s got to get off to a good start, minimum of playoff position after 10 games or
he has to go imo, though a promotion year often starts with a defeat so won’t hang him out straight away like some lol.

I’m walking into an ear bashing or keyboard equivalent here but maybe just maybe JD smashes it in this league? The owner wanted him due to his lower leagues winning mentality, some of the players we have are amazing on their day…. If he can get them to gel and remove the negativity of the last few years around the whole club then everything could really kick on.

I am not negative re JD and truly hope he smashes it … i am however just slightly concerned about some traits he showed in the end of last season firstly odd selections and secondly tactics (yes he was working with a nail in his boot and with poor players with very bad attitudes) so can he motivate this new group, lets hope so..

I agree with a previous post , a mix of really talented players possibly with big egos to manage wont be easy maybe why Andy Butler came in after Nelson left he will play a big part IMO.

No hiding place now i wish JD all the best… anything other than top few places after first dozen games or he could/should be toast .. hopefully not and he turns out to be the Lurpak butter (MY FAV) on that toast and a hero.

Reading fans SM there seems to be a real buzz and with a good start im sure attendances will be good and improve if the football on offer is entertaining.

New owner and managers first full season, all new team, new kit in a new league suppose you could say new fresh buzz and real optimism within the fan base …. putting the off field stuff aside this is Scunny being reborn.
