Going to be interesting to see how far we have come in recent weeks when they meet a National League team again in a competitive game.
December 6, 2023 at 9:23 am #277884We lost 3-4 to them at home last season after being 3 up, we were a complete shambles TBH but we are a decent side now, don’t think Solihull will be thinking it’s a gimme for them. I reckon if we win it won’t be a major surprise to many.
December 6, 2023 at 12:00 pm #277887This will be a difficult game against a team that are near the top of the National League, but the way that the Scunthorpe team is playing when at GP, I am tipping Scunny to win the game 2 – 1, but with the big turnaround in the club off the field, the gate should probably be 3,157, with it not being a League encounter it is a bit lowewr than if it was in the League.
Enjoy the game guys, and lets hope for another win.
December 6, 2023 at 12:30 pm #2778902000 would be good attendance imo.
December 6, 2023 at 1:05 pm #277891Anything over 2,000 is a good result for a none league cup competition on a Friday night.
Solihull fans would probably fit in 1 bus.
Despite the reduced admission charges still a welcome earner given only under 12’s and 100 club members don’t pay.

And of course a winners cheque for that round.

December 6, 2023 at 6:56 pm #277902Lost last game 6- 1 to Altrincham
December 6, 2023 at 7:27 pm #277905Had about 11 – 13 unbeaten run but gone to pieces of late.
December 6, 2023 at 8:54 pm #277908Not really one for cup games but looking forward to this one. Be interesting to how we cope we with an established national league side, I was impressed with a number of their players during both our games against them last year.
1-1

Draw AET
SHM to win on pens
Att 2,228PLEASE no serious injuries for us … twood be CATASTROPHIC to loose any key players for the league campaign.
December 7, 2023 at 7:33 pm #277918I’ve no interest in the game.
Hope we lose tbh.
Finishing as NLN Champions is all that matters!December 8, 2023 at 8:43 am #277931Will this game be televised? – It’s not a Saturday.
December 8, 2023 at 9:07 am #2779353-0 Scunny
Butterfield (obvs)
Whitehall

I’ve known to be wildly wrong on most things
December 8, 2023 at 10:44 am #277949December 8, 2023 at 7:10 pm #2779592-0 Scunny 2,134
December 8, 2023 at 10:00 pm #277960Shocking performance. Fingers crossed we don’t replicate that in the league. Max needs to come back in at CB and we need a natural RB. Ogle can’t come back soon enough.
No urgency 1st half and was the worst we’ve played all season. Beck is the kind of player we need away from home, a proper no nonsense no frills targetman to secure the ball and play off.
December 8, 2023 at 10:35 pm #277961Seen that game to many times this season clueless on how to break a team down, why have a forward on in the first half if your going to play along the back line all the time, poor ref and lino their second way offside, people wanting Elliot over whitehall give over showed f all again,
December 8, 2023 at 10:50 pm #277963Two appalling pieces of defending.
December 8, 2023 at 11:28 pm #277964Attendance 1899, that number again.
December 8, 2023 at 11:39 pm #277965Disappointing game, performance and attendance.
Sad to see Solihull have succumbed to the standard National League methodology of spoiling and shithousery. They used to be a good footballing side and a pleasure to watch. They have turned into Borehamwood.
Still better than us though tonight. 5-4-1 without the ball (sometimes 5-5-0) until they went down to ten. Attacked well for the first 10 minutes to stamp their authority and physicality on us and then went into their shape and waited for our mistakes. We obliged.
It’s the template to beat us a la Curzon and Buxton. Close down Butterfield and we become a team of ponderous and misplaced passes.
Probably enough poor teams in NLN for us to get away with it but if we do go up we will struggle in the National League without a plan b and c. Has Jimmy got one?

December 8, 2023 at 11:55 pm #277967Terrible performance tonight, outplayed in the first half, two very poor stupid errors in defence, and could not even manage to score against 10 men for the full second half. How the hell Whitehall geta in the team God knows\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\111
If the team play like that in the league, they have no chance of topping it, the squad DScunny have should be well clear, but they do not seem to be playing to their strenths, tonight SM had five changes and brought in five youth players but still managed to win 2-0 practically against our full first eleven, and why does Jimmy insist on playing one up front, well the player he seems to select is hopeless, and is only interested in winning a free kick rather than putting the ball into the net.
December 9, 2023 at 12:42 am #277969Evans looked really shaky next to Boyce and Kelly struggled at RB. Too slow going forward again and I would have brought on Wilson for Roberts who looked pretty poor.
No knee jerk reaction from me after tonight’s game but it’s a worry that whenever teams play like this we struggle as there’s no plan B.
December 9, 2023 at 5:08 am #277970Interesting.
The teams currently occupying 24th & 23rd place in the National League are the two teams promoted from last seasons NLN – Flyde (24), Kidderminster (23)
The teams sitting in 22nd & 21st place are the two teams promoted from the NLS – Oxford (22), Ebbsfleet (21)
It’s obvious that our Queen has a massive off & ON the pitch job on her hands!
We should remain supportive and thankful that we still have our club and our ground.
Let’s not forget that WHAM almost killed the club!

That’s how we saw it.
Solihull were good a good, organised team; ready to press us before we played a pass and everyone on there knew their job. Very much reminded me of Woking last year who came and did a number on us.
Not going to get downhearted after it, thought we moved the ball quicker 2nd half and were unfortunate not to grab at least a goal. Actually enjoyed watching a decent side come here and play rather some of the garbage we have to witness in the NLN week in week out. Dirty set of **** though.
December 9, 2023 at 10:08 am #277979we were awful it’s clear players like Roberts ,Clunan(even shitter Justin walker),Boyce and Whitehall are not good enough .They were the worst of an ordinary bunch
December 9, 2023 at 10:48 am #277984The Solihull diving and turf-hugging was not quite up to Buxton standards.
December 9, 2023 at 10:54 am #277987Agree Les Buxton are masters of negative football and shithousery.
Of course those tactics rely on having a weak referee which in this league is almost a given.
If we were to only win 1 more away game this season please let it be at Buxton in a couple of weeks time.

December 9, 2023 at 12:45 pm #277996On another day 2-3 of those chances go in.. really unlucky.
December 9, 2023 at 1:02 pm #277999We moved the ball quicker second half CBRP because it was impossible to move it any slower. That was the worst we have played at home this season IMO.the only positive was that it wasn’t a league game.
