April 5, 2022 at 7:24 pm #235037I would put the club up for sale for a £1 and gift the ground back to the club as part of the sale then walk away feeling so ashamed for being so bloody incompetent at running such a valued local asset with big historical significance to the local area, in such a ridiculous un business like way and creating this awful situation for the population of this town and local area. I would also apologise to the fans and people of this area for how far I had dragged THEIR CLUB down.

April 5, 2022 at 8:30 pm #235050You would Ironawe, but I doubt whether your wife or family would let you do it, it’s oh so easy to spend or give away other peoples money.

April 5, 2022 at 10:12 pm #235054We can’t go into liquidation when we have just won a Trophy.
April 5, 2022 at 10:20 pm #235056Champions of Lincolnshire! The rest including Grimsby, Gainsborough, Lincoln and Boston can never sing that! :-)

Difference is I’m an Iron fan, the current owner isn’t.

April 6, 2022 at 5:14 am #235060The ‘Cream of Lincolnshire’, n’est-ce pas?
April 6, 2022 at 9:17 am #235069Still dodges the fact that this was avoidable !
The stupid recruitment that has wasted so much money proved that.

So we’ve found the level at which we might be able to win a few games.

April 6, 2022 at 11:16 am #235073I agree 100%, SF – but cannot easily forget that a significant number of fans on these pages were, even in those profligate days, claiming a ‘lack of ambition’ and demanding that even more be spent!
(I cannot stand ‘magic money trees’ – there ain’t no such animal.)
I think it was AWG who has written more than once that ‘spending other people’s money is easy.’ On that point, I must heartily agree.
My problem is extravagant claims which never became reality and budget management which was feeble at best.3 users thanked author for this post.
April 6, 2022 at 1:27 pm #235075It wasn’t spending someone else’s money though. It was the clubs and I do believe in a previous statement from Mr Ego he mentioned “we gambled” !!
Thing is ” WE ” did not. The adopted recruitment protocol was the gamble and remained so to present day. Go back to the sales of Wallace, Holmes, Townsend – estimated revenue was £2.3 million. And yet what young talent was brought in to keep the production delivering a seasonal ‘golden egg’.

April 6, 2022 at 1:36 pm #235076Your right on being a fan and Swann is not Ironawe, but makes that more the case not to give the club away, he as no emotional connection like we have, maybe he would sell it for a pound if he could afford to, but the stories and they are only stories that I and others have heard he’s probably financially worse off than most of us. Even if he finishes the 5* hotel, where is it again oh yes Blackpool, would people with a 5* budget really want to go to bloody Blackpool I think not, to be fair he needs all the money he can lay his hands on.
April 6, 2022 at 2:13 pm #235078Expand on your comment you would ” keep it “, that is no answer really to the OP, keep.it and what? Let’s not start wandering off point here and speculating about Swann’s financial position, we are not privy to it but you could let everybody know about your plans after you had ” kept it “.
April 6, 2022 at 2:45 pm #235084“Keep” I would run it on a no debt basis, relying on tickets sales commercial and hospitality to live within the club’s means. Take a back seat and just keep quiet about anything else.
