    Anyone actually going?

I reckon we should stick Onarise up front, 4 at the back and get some proper direct football up to the big lad. Get players around him and play for set pieces, John Beck stylee! No point trying to be pretty, we need to be ugly at this stage. HOOOOF!

Will be setting off soon. Hoping that cox will surprise us with a striker tonight but I doubt it. I think he should put Hippolite upfront Jessup and see how we do but we will probably play all the defenders hoping for a 0-0

Yes that’s my view too. 5-5-0 looking for another clean sheet whilst pretending that Bunn, Green and Beestin have attacking intentions. Unless Neil has any surprises in mind – no I thought not.

    Watson

    Pugh
    Davis
    Taft
    Onarise
    Thompson

    Perry
    Beestin

    Green
    Hippolyte
    Bunn

Is what I think he will go with.

Green has been dreadful and doesn’t deserve to play tonight after the last 2 performances.

    I’d go

    Watson

    Pugh
    Onarise/Davis
    Taft
    Thompson

    Wilson
    Beestin
    Perry
    Hippolyte

    Bunn

    Jessop

Have a go and see what the young lads have got.

Cox’s pre-season and training was about instilling pass and movement. Keeping it on the deck. With Jessop and potentially one other up front in a 4-4-2 it would be a good time to practice what we preach.

In reality this approach will be thrown out the window and 5-5-0 with a do not concede mentality will be utilised

    I think we’ll try once again for a 0-0.
Despite all his promises, it really does seem to be all he knows.

My forecast is for a 2-0 defeat, both goals in the last ten again.

I remember predicting a backs to the wall win against Walsall last season and that’s what happened. Same again tonight.

The problem with a don’t lose 0-0 mentality is there is no plan B if we did concede.
I suspect Wilcox left his “Russ’s guide to defensive inspirational football” on the bookshelf in the managers office.

Can’t agree about Green, maybe shite against Swindon but played well against Rochdale, but should have shot instead of crossing when he was in a far better position near the end.

They must have shown a different Rochdale game on iFollow Awaywego. Green was worse than sh1te against Swindon. He improved marginally to the level of sh!te against Rochdale.

Pace is no use whatsoever if you never do anything with the ball.

Not seen Jessop before but I’d give him a go, Green was useless up front on Saturday which isn’t his position, granted.

    Watson

    Rowe
    Davis
    Taft
    Thompson

    Green
    Perry
    Beestin
    Bunn

    Hallam
    Jessop

    Finally picked the 6th defender.

6-4-0 against the bottom of the league team.

I like Green on the wing, not trying to be a forward it doesn’t work. Stick him out wide and let him run at defenders and stick the crosses in like he did when he first arrived at The Iron.

    …John Beck style….now your talking!
Nearly got into the top flight with it.
Cambridge United fans loved it- so would we.

Green came to as a centre forward/wide player.
My issue is that he drifts out of games for long periods. Decision-making is a real issue with him. Like so many – there is a player in there but …

Still in the team tonight. We seem to have run out of options. Looking incredibly threadbare.

Interesting to see what formation we play. Have a real bad feeling about tonight. Talk about a makeshift team.

    O’Malley preferred at LB. Interesting.

looks like 6-4-0 with a creche needed for the bench – which only has 6 players on

If you want to be optimistic then opt for 3-5-2!

Rowe and O’Malley wing backs, three in CM (including Pugh in his correct position), and Green & Bunn up top.

That’s almost as optimistic as putting Hallam in your starting lineup!

Even when the club was being run as a “hobby” we had one striker worth his salt.

I think if I was this bad at a hobby after 10/15 years I would give it up as a bad job.

6 on the bench – 5 with little 1st team experience.

Now 6 injured !! Not bad for 3 games in for us.

That’s a scary looking starting 11 and an even scarier looking bench. Surely we’re busting a gut to bring players in…surely!? Why did we give Hallam a contract?? Unbelievable.

Alfie Beestin (Scunthorpe United) is shown the yellow card for excessive celebration.

    Well done tonight boys.

Despite my slightly sarcastic 6-4-0 post earlier our best performance this season.

Played a little bit of football. Worked really hard.

Beeston was quality even before the goal. Been waiting to see Pugh in midfield and I’m not disappointed.

Down to the bare bones tonight but would have been a travesty to lose that one. First time Cox had responded with shape and substitutions in a positive way.

Sign of the times I’m delighted with a point against a very poor side.

A fairly tight match.Three positives: we came from behind, we scored from open play and we got a point. A few negatives e.g. we need a striker, greater penetration and more cohesion.

It’s going to be a long old season.

Scraped a point against a really poor side.

Switched off and gifted a goal again.

Rowe and O’Malley were awful so that’s all the full backs who look uncomfortable at wing back.

Hope Millen is decent cos Pugh definitely needs to stay in midfield. Effort and energy all game. One bright spot. The only one who didn’t spend the whole night looking back towards his own goal.

No idea what the formation is again and there certainly doesn’t appear to be a plan.

So so negative no desire to get forward and absolutely no urgency even at 1-0 down.

Well said MK, yep we moan and groan, justifiably, about the current state of the squad and tactics but the last two away results have proved one thing, this squad has balls and the right attitude. Great last couple of results guys, well done 👏👏👏

Well the game has ended in a fair result, after watching the match on I-Follower, to be honest I really enjoyed it.

I just cannot see why we take free kicks that we got in the Walsall half, and play the bloody ball backwards, I hate to see that!!!. Young Pugh had a good game, but he to for some reason, played almost every ball in the last 20 mins backwards when we were losing 1-0, why???

    My ratings for tonight were:-

WATSON—7–Played well and did really well.
ROWE—-4—He had a really poor game, and is certainly not League standard.
DAVIS—-8—Was a very good defender, and his passing was first class.
O’MALLEY—-4—Also had a very poor game, and is not good enough.
PUGH—8—He is getting confident with game time, Cox should pull him about back passes.
PERRY—6—Quiet game and not involved as much as he should have been.
ONARIASE—7—Strong as ever in the centre of the defence, no problem with him.
TAFT—6—Did ok without being a stand out player.
BEESTIN—8—-My MOM tonight and worked really well in mid field, plus good to see his goal.
GREEN—6—-Covered a lot of ground, but better when on the wing, cannot see him scoring.
BUNN—8—The first time of seeing him, looked good, and some really good passes by him.

SUBS—-Young Wilson played well, and a possible start of a match and maybe 65 mins playing time.

REF—9—A very good ref that let play go on where possible, yes very good performance.

COX—7—Did what he could with this poor squad, but last season supporters were saying that he had taken over some one elses players, well this lot are the team that he has been partly involved in bringing in, so he cannot have is all ways, tonigh was against a very poor team whoes record is nearly as bad as ours, and it is very difficult to see where we are going to get enough points from to survive, maybe Oldham, Walsall and maybe a couple of others will be as bad as Scunny.
