Loan ends today, has any of you seen or heard anything regarding an extension ?
I suspect he’ll go back and we’ll recall Sembie Ferris but we’ll have to see.
January 8, 2024 at 3:00 pm #278957Shame if that happens as neither are then likely to play much the rest of the season.
January 8, 2024 at 3:27 pm #278958Absolutely a key player. Returning to his parent club would be a severe blow to our promotion chances.
January 8, 2024 at 4:15 pm #278959Beestin and Wilson both available for his position so don’t need DSF IMO.
I’d like to keep Smith though.2 users thanked author for this post.

January 8, 2024 at 6:15 pm #278965Feels like an expensive luxury having loans like him when you consider the number of similar players we have on the books already.
January 8, 2024 at 6:25 pm #278966Agree with Apollo on this one.
Don’t suppose his wages are massive but I guess him staying or not is not going to determine us winning the league or not.
January 8, 2024 at 6:53 pm #278967Wages are considerable.
I think the National League will make the decision for us anyway.1 user thanked author for this post.
January 8, 2024 at 8:18 pm #278971Been a good player for us, but if we can’t win this league without him then there’s something wrong.

Sembie Ferris has netted 5 goals in a poor team so I wouldn’t write him completely off. I rate Wilson and think with games he’ll do well. Beestin isn’t a winger and never will be, he should be in CM or not in the team.

I wouldn’t go that far. Smith’s not been that good of late. Smith’s been influential so far but the season won’t solely hinge on him. Wilson has enough about him to succeed at this level. Ferris has done well on loan too.

January 10, 2024 at 10:51 am #279042Be nice to see Sembie-Ferris fully fit, given he says he was suffering from injuries last season.
January 10, 2024 at 11:40 am #279044Smith has left Scunthorpe United.
There’s interest from a Scottish premier league club.1 user thanked author for this post.

January 10, 2024 at 2:04 pm #279055Save on his wages and recall sembie ferris and introduce Wilson into the mix. Not bad options.
We could also go Law on the left and Roberts on the right so we have numerous options to fall back on.

January 10, 2024 at 6:18 pm #279069Gutted he’s gone but we do have some options.
Surely DSF has to come back nowJanuary 10, 2024 at 6:26 pm #279071To be 5th choice wide player?
January 10, 2024 at 7:02 pm #279074Still don’t get the reasoning behind recalling DSF. Let the lad enjoy playing regular football, and if they are contributing towards wages it’s a win/win- same with Pugh.
Following on from the Swann era we seem to believe it necessary to have 2/3 players for each position. Certainly not sustainable given our current financial woes.
Smith was a good player for us, but saving on his wages can only be a good thing.

January 10, 2024 at 10:19 pm #279082Cliff we’ll end up leaving him on loan and then recalling him if needed as we have a recall option. If anything we could do with another striker as that’s the only position we’re a little light in.
Not really on the cards with the financial mess we’re in but we could do with one. Bennett and Carver can stay out loan, I wouldn’t want either of those two back.

WilsonLet’s say one’s injury and one’s suspended… that means nothing off the bench!!!

Law, Roberts, Wilson to choose from and Elliot can play wide right but again leaves us light up top If Whitehall is ever crocked. I’d recall Sembie Ferris personally right now to take Smiths squad place.
Will he play a lot, probably not but I don’t want us to be in a position where we have to potentially really on Beestin moving to right wing.
