Getting sick of hearing this from Swann as an excuse for our recent failings.
Since 1998 our lowest average attendance had been 3,446. In 2003/2004 when we finished 22nd in league 2, we averaged 3,800.
Attendances have consistently held above 3,500 despite spells in league 2. That would place us around 13/14th in the home attendance rankings; More than enough to be competitive within this league.
For a town of 70k with no large hinterland to speak of, our crowds have held up reasonably well over the last 20 years.
Agreed.
Go back to our last season in League One:
Walsall 4,927
AFC Wimbledon 4,253
Scunthorpe United 4,226
Rochdale 3,574
Burton Albion 3,351
Fleetwood Town 3,164
Accrington Stanley 2,763
Rochdale, Burton, Fleetwood & Accrington all stayed up on those attendances.
This season in League Two:
Sutton United 2,762
Scunthorpe United 2,745
Colchester United 2,583
Barrow 2,497
Forest Green Rovers 2,196
Crawley Town 2,160
Salford City 2,041
Harrogate Town 1,739
Forest Green top, Barrow top-7, Harrogate 2nd. And all of them above us!
Conplete Tosh
Small fan base I am 5ft 10 and know of many supporters who are well over 6ft.
There’s always one, isn’t there?
😄😄😄
Mr Swann only needs to look at 2 clubs for the answer.
Accrington Stanley – How to run a football club
Scunthorpe United – How NOT to run a football club.
There’s always one, isn’t there?
Apologies I am a VIZ reader.
