This squad is absolutely appalling!!!
I’ve NEVER been so angry, annoyed and frustrated to support SUFC.
I’m disgusted with the demise of the squad… regardless of how poor the individuals were last season the guys who have gone were Collectively the best players we had!!!!!!
we’ve now got a national league squad (at best) with a manager who has NO identity and has shown he CAN NOT set a team up to attack and dominate games in the attacking third!!OUR ONLY HOPE (again!!)
Is that there are 2 worse teams than us and I’m utterly embarrassed to have to say that.
Swindon appear to be in a bit of a mess so that could be interesting and if they self destruct then we are only needing one more team to have a mare to allow us another year in the football league.8 users thanked author for this post.
June 26, 2021 at 8:36 am #209268And the season after that …?
The problem is that the club knows exactly what the fans are thinking and has done a grand total of nothing to allay reasoned fears and suspicions.
I am thinking that this must mean that either they are unable to do so or (less likely) they will announce a sudden bevy of signings with a mighty fanfare of trumpets in such a manner as to undermine the realists on this site.
The trouble with the second thought is that there is damage being caused in the delay which will have lost many more supporters.I am moving slowly and inexorably towards Alcazar’s camp as events unfold – or rather don’t unfold.
As one who has always tried to give the leadership of the club the benefit of the doubt over years, for me this is a mega shift in stance.

June 26, 2021 at 9:24 am #209270The last day in the diary for at least one signing would be 1st July. Contracts expired and free agents so maybe Swann meant this date rather than promising and not delivering – although his tenure is full of empty promises and fall outs. Let’s see what Thursday brings – nothing in before then with preseason games starting less than 1 week after would make a mockery of his continued whine about last season’s first 10 games being our pre-season.
The squad will not be able to fulfil its fixtures very early into next season without at least 5 signings.

June 26, 2021 at 11:40 am #209286It seems tragic that the club could not have issued a simple statement.
“We have some interesting/positive/good/worthy/experienced (PYO) signings in the pipeline.”
If you do have you announce it.
If you don’t, you have to keep stumm.Anything from deep concern to panic is the inevitable consequence.

June 26, 2021 at 12:18 pm #209288Peter Swann hasn’t made any statement for ages.
Neil Cox hasn’t said anything for a while.
We are believed to have the lowest Budget in the Division.
Promised the squad would be in place by end of May.
One signing to date.
The club will be worried about Season Ticket sales.
With what is going on with the deadly silence is it surprising.
And what has happened this last 3 seasons on the pitch with results and boring defensive displays will it bring supporters back.
Peter Swann what is happening to this club, are you deliberately targeting relegation or going to fold the club up for development, I have always backed you in the past, but even the most optimistic fans are getting worried about the club.

June 26, 2021 at 12:36 pm #209289If Swanny can’t relieve our anxieties then perhaps UTI99 could explain what’s happening.
He/she appears to be the only one who’s unconcerned.
Unless there’s anyone else out there who thinks it’s all hunky-dory!
June 26, 2021 at 12:51 pm #209290It would appear that even UTI99 is struggling at the moment. As with the rest of us the club are letting him down badly, the difference is that he/she hasn’t yet accepted it.
June 26, 2021 at 12:52 pm #209291We’ll see what the next week or two bring.
No more players in and Swann is without doubt running the club into the ground to develop. The terms of the lease would presumably only be valid should the club exist.

June 26, 2021 at 2:59 pm #209292No doubt there will be a statement soon telling us we have to buy season tickets to help the club.

June 26, 2021 at 4:34 pm #209293We were promised the squad would be in place by the end of May?
Maybe it was.
Maybe this is it?I’d not put it past him.

June 26, 2021 at 7:05 pm #209295I jokingly thought if we sign no more then Swann was right. As each day passes that joke could turn into reality. It would be hard to believe with any other owner but this shower does take some beating.

June 26, 2021 at 8:04 pm #209297Harrogate just signed a striker, possible activity for us on Monday and the start of a signing frenzy?
June 26, 2021 at 9:15 pm #209299And possibly not Cass.

June 26, 2021 at 9:17 pm #209300We possibly have got our squad in place with these 21, plus a couple of young loanees and a few of the youth team.

June 26, 2021 at 9:56 pm #209301Morecambe have released a statement about having sold over 1,000 season tickets. For a club the size of Morecambe that is a good achievement.
From what I understand the more tickets sold the more money off the season tickets for everyone.I think we all know more about every other clubs activities than ours.

June 27, 2021 at 12:44 pm #209318Is Humberside making anything of all this – I no longer bother going on there every day?
June 27, 2021 at 1:51 pm #209321What is the point of any statement from Mr Peter Swann – Would you believe them ?
Signings may surprise people but for another season damage has been done and trust at an all time low. Season ticket sales must be heading to one of the lowest levels for seasons and that again is one persons responsibility. But they don’t appear to care.

[/quoteAverage 2/3 posts per day usually rugby or city, seldom features anything south bank. Doubtful if the club give them anything to work with, much like the Telegraph who get plenty of Cods info.
June 27, 2021 at 4:32 pm #209327As long as there is something to report on Dull City, Humberside will be satisfied its doing it’s job correctly.
June 28, 2021 at 9:15 am #209332See the OWS is just reminding us all that season tickets are on sale, well how could we possibly forget. With such a plethora of new wonderful players already signed up for next season, how could any reasonable person not cash in and get signed up for a ticket straight away. Wow, I’m so excited about the wonderful team we will be privileged to watch next season, better get one now folks because they are selling like hot cakes. 😂😂😂

Great idea, I think other teams have done this in the past, an innovative way of drumming up more support and capitalising on their promotion.

On that point, is the Telegraph still banned from Glanford Park? If so, that really needs to be resolved immediately, there is no way we should be at odds with the local paper when we need every bit of good publicity we can get.

June 28, 2021 at 9:48 am #209334Sorry, IA. I couldn’t quite tell if you were being ironic there.
June 28, 2021 at 10:26 am #209339The club has a poor/non existant relationship with the local council, the local press and most supporters, all of whom would be valuable allies in times of need (like now). It doesn’t seem to bother them.
June 28, 2021 at 12:57 pm #209345How can we have a good relationship with local press while Max Bell is a correspondent, didn’t he fall out with Scunthorpe over his book sale?, his reports are more captain hindsight than Starmer, hardly surprising though he is a fan, more of a blogger than a journalist in the ET.
June 28, 2021 at 3:47 pm #209350How can we have a good relationship with local press while Max Bell is a correspondent, didn’t he fall out with Scunthorpe over his book sale?
If I remember rightly, the paper has been banned because the club wanted to charge a fee for access, I don’t know if that was ever resolved or not.
June 28, 2021 at 5:12 pm #209354So Scunthorpe have appointed Tony McMahon to the coaching staff, just need some players to coach.!
June 28, 2021 at 5:16 pm #209355So what your really saying ferrite, is the telegraph arnt banned after all but just need to pay to gain access. (Certainly not banned because of Max).
June 28, 2021 at 6:12 pm #209357Is that not worse? Charging your local press for access to the club so they can report to fans!
