I generally pay little attention when some get rather overexcited about the release of shirt numbers but this season, I am pretty keen to see them.
They will reveal a great deal about JD’s thinking.
We have so many faces we know so little about. Even who gets the No 1 will tell us much.
Who are our main two CBs? – Presumably 5 & 6?
Which of last season’s men will not make it into the lower numbers up to 11.
    All very intriguing.

Ogle might fit the bill, certainly leads by example.

Captain likely to be one of JD’s signings I reckon.
Will one of the CBs get number 5 from Elliott?

Can’t say I’m that interested in all fairness. I don’t care what numbers they wear as long as they all play well and contribute to us having a successful season.

I concur with that re the successful season .. however im ov the mind when allocating squad numbers it will give a clearer picture of who JD considers first names on the team sheet with others as squad players subs n back up… example the keepers position will he rotate or have a regular first choice ?? i like Chappo but will JD rate Fitz more highly.. same applies in a few other positions.

As previously posted im also predicting the new captain will be either Ogle (if he stays nothing confirmed yet) or one of the new signings ..just not sure which one

Do they even use squad numbers at this level, I thought it was just 1 – 11?

Are squad numbers still definitely used in this division?

Good question… pulled this from internet

Clubs in the National League North and South will be allowed to use squad numbers this season. However, it’s not compulsory that they do so.

Some do some don’t. Peterborough Sports did last year, Alfreton Town and Farsley Celtic didn’t. I suppose weighing up the need (shirt sales with name and number) vs the costs involved (we used 47 players last year x 3 shirts, that’s quite a number of shirts vs 1-16) especially if your club is on a tight budget.

    Captain – Michael Clunan.

I can’t imagine it being anyone else, after all he was the captain of last season’s runners-up.

Would somebody with experience of P/T football only have the respect, as captain, of players with years of F/T (including league) experience? Just asking.

Well, well, well Ellis, why are you so interested in anybody’s opinion on here?
I thought you’d made it plain on your Facebook thread that you have no time for either this forum, the owner and moderators or indeed the members of the forum.
Then why do you put yourself through the obvious trauma of reading and posting on here?
You even have your own thread in “non football”, perhaps you’d post your explanation in there.

No sense of irony in that Facebook group. Slagged this forum off for moaning and then the next 10 posts were posters arguing with each other.

Based upon giving yourself a username like “Iron Insider”.

Come up with such a name and watch them all fall for it.

I may set up an account under the username G P Mole and have a bit of mischief!

No one’s fallen for anything on here. He or she has made a number of points in the past that turned out to be true. Not all, I don’t think, though I could be wrong. Show me a post that demonstrates people have ‘fallen for it’?

He is not Ellis, I am.

This place has turned into a complete shite fest. I honestly feel sorry for SST having to suffer some of the idiots on here, especially one of his pet mods.

The prophecies of doom, the negativity about all things Iron, the allowing of literal stalking of our new chairman. It used to be so good once, shame innit?

I think the doom will reduce once ground issues subside, if they do. I am still amazed that when we don’t own our ground, with unclear positions on whether we can play at Glanford Park and possible groundshares with an unknown club (and no knowledge of the existence of any groundshare deal), some are annoyed that some people are concerned about it and aren’t jumping for joy . Regardless of which party is at fault (the question will be how much Hilton is, because Swann has already demonstrated his ineptitude which has brought us this low and mired in issues), the consequences of the stadium dispute is potentially severe.

Why do you feel sorry for SST? He knows where the delete button is just like his moderators do. If there is a post or a subject he feels is not in the interest of the club or it risks his livelihood, posts and topics would be deleted without any hesitation. From some of the cached Google results, posts by one-time members have clearly been deleted. Besides, privately he might concede that others are better placed than him to comment on certain subjects.

I have seen hardly any criticism of the club and the majority of its employees on here. As for the stalking of your chairman, do me a favour. He’s his own worst enemy when it comes to drawing attention and in fairness to him he must recognise this given the lack of on & off camera interviews that he’s done since being involved with both Ilkeston and Scunthorpe. Like I’ve said before, he can’t rewrite history.

If I told you who I felt sorry for it would only result in a load of name-calling and comments regarding my well being, so I won’t bother.

It’s taken you two hours to come back with that old pony. Did you not understand what I meant when I mentioned ‘idiots?’

This is why I don’t feel that I can remain on this forum anymore. It’s feckin depressing.

As for your welfare? I couldn’t care less about that either.
