Agreed Ferrite Howard wasn’t all that, but he did average 1.27 points per game for us, Rory averaged .5 last season and .58 this season if we carry on with that average we will only amass 27 points, his best average was 1 point per game in 5 games which is still not deemed enough to stay up, Sorry but Rory just isn’t good enough.
Awaywego—Howard was also a poor goalkeeper that never left the goal line for any crossed ballsand resulted in a few goals, but even so he signed for Carlisle last week and played for them on saturday.
But to say that Watson is poor and costing the team goals this season is way off the mark, the whole team are very very poor, and would not win games even if they had two goalkeepers between the posts during matches, the team are poor, the management are very poor and entertainment is even worse.

October 18, 2021 at 3:50 pm #215945This season’s failures is not down to Rory, infact he’s made some really good saves and kept us in a few games.

October 18, 2021 at 4:09 pm #215949I agree about Rory he has improved but unfortunately the defence in front of him, who I thought initially would have improved from last season, just hasn’t turned up. Just hope his confidence won’t suffer as a result.

October 18, 2021 at 4:33 pm #215952Really feel for Rory, gets little protection game after game and rarely do I hear any compliment from the manager.
That is what is wrong.

October 18, 2021 at 4:52 pm #215955If we had 11 players that had performed as well as Rory in every game this season we would be in the top half of the table.
For me the only one to match his consistency has been Pugh and he got dropped because “he didn’t train well”
He has been replaced by 2 loanees that have yet to make a tackle between them.

October 18, 2021 at 7:22 pm #215966All you say may be correct, but doesn’t get away from the fact his record is shocking and was rated the worst keeper in the whole football league last season, can’t do any harm to play someone else, after all we could only loose, last year played a blinder against Carlisle third game in but we still wanted rid and we did, can’t see whats changed, imo he’s just a Jonah.
October 18, 2021 at 7:29 pm #215968I have no doubt he will be dropped, par for the course down at GP now.

October 18, 2021 at 7:30 pm #215969Why destroy his confidence by benching him when he doesn’t deserve it?
Last season has got no relevance to his current form and he is playing well enough to keep his place.4 users thanked author for this post.
October 18, 2021 at 7:37 pm #215972He’s already destroyed my confidence. Alexander didn’t deserve sacking when still in a playoff place both here and at Salford but shit happens.
October 18, 2021 at 9:40 pm #215981It also sticks!

October 19, 2021 at 11:42 am #216001You’re exactly right wouldn’t make much difference which ever keeper is in goal. But the main culprit of our present demise is SWANN. He is the one who hired Cox, he is the one who can fire him and have a go at keeping us in the football league, but is it too late anyway now that he has done all the damage to Scunthorpe United. Remember words are cheap and count for nothing if they are not followed by actions.

Spot on, you’ve hit the nail on the head. SWANN AND COX OUT.

October 19, 2021 at 12:02 pm #216006Many say Alexander should have stayed. For me – no. We were dropping down the league from 1st where we were on merit. GA tried to make us something we weren’t, why change what was working – we would have won that league.
You cannot even call this a ‘circus’ !!

October 19, 2021 at 5:13 pm #216021Alexander did just fine … until Lucetti left!

I think that Scunny at present are a very good axample of a circus, we certainly have the best squad of clowns in Swann, Cox, Lillis and Mussa, bet you cannot name a team with so many as Scunny.
October 20, 2021 at 12:49 am #216082I bet as soon as Cox and Lillis are fired “which I hope is soon” and we sign a half decent manager we’ll start reaping the rewards.
We could even bin off Cox and Lillis and sign Keith Hill for instance with those two’s wages and get Tony McMahan to do his current role plus step in as assistant manager.
Swann keeps saying he’s still fighting for Scunthorpe United but not when that clueless idiot is here. Put Cox out of his misery and get him gone with Lillis, both not worth a carrot between them.
To have a game there in the palm of your hands when you’re playing well and the other team playing poorly and to throw it away through sheer negativity is extracting the urine to whole new levels.
COX WALK AWAY YOU DAFT SOD AND DO THE RIGHT THING !

October 20, 2021 at 5:53 am #216088Just read the statement put out by Swann .. WALOB.. dont believe a word that comes out that fellas gob .. the snaffling of the ground and renaming it was done to protect him and him alone.
He says hes bank rolling the club .. getting Cox in on the cheap and allowing him to sign all the dead wood no one else wanted re crocked ” experienced ” Kenyon etc to name just one… also very poor loan signings dont help…but WTF would want to come to SUFC in its current state ??remembering games at The Old Show Ground in the Donny Rd end .. they were great, days when we had a club.

October 20, 2021 at 7:12 am #216092With a forward to hold up the ball and some leadership in CM this team is fine. Maybe even good enough for 14th to 16th.
Surely, anyone who witnessed the two halves at Barrow will see: a) What can be done with these players and b) How not to play them. This site brought attention this week to the dangers of playing a narrow five in midfield.
Guess what we did in the 2nd half! The logic in ceding control of the game totally escapes me.The main reason we didn’t lose was that Barrow held onto the ball and kept playing around the outside of our box and they ignored dozens of opportunities to swing crosses in.
Winning the first half 2 – 0 would have been fair to us – winning the second half 6 – 0 was there for Barrow to claim.
Incidentally, if players are unwell – they can feel unwell covering the flanks rather than feeling unwell and playing narrow.
Our main problem remains the poor management of the team resources. With a half decent manager, this lot would have been a good half dozen places higher up the table.

October 20, 2021 at 9:28 am #216101Presumably Awaywego you think Rory Watson should take the blame for that result and performance last night?
