Plenty of reading here, basically there were disputes about delays with the Lincolnshire Lakes project, which the new ground would have been part of, and then the planning process for the GP redevelopment.

July 27, 2022 at 5:28 pm #241388I feel shafted, train drivers announced another strike day for the Maidenhead game f ING greedy bastards, at least we should get the train money refunded.

July 27, 2022 at 5:36 pm #241389After allthe bullshit that Swann has fed to us supporters over the past seven or eight years, he probably tried the same thing with the NLCC, but they were probably not as gullable as we are. In my opinion, “there is only one shafter”, and the Scunny fans are the one’s that have been truly shafted, and we habve paid an heavy price for it.

Train drivers are not striking, yet.
ASLEF represents the drivers. RMT are to strike.July 27, 2022 at 8:04 pm #241398On the 13th of August they are!.

Good its time to stand up to these billionaires who dont give a flying fuck about the common working man, rising prices, house fuel bills, petrol/diesel prices, inflation at 9% and rising, no spare income to go to Maidenhead or any other London centric ground, public transport services we get 20 metre strip of tarmac whilst Cross Rail cost 18 billion and rising.

I was on the train to Maidenhead, but a small price to pay, strike on lads.3 users thanked author for this post.
July 28, 2022 at 10:01 am #241409Didn’t those said billionaires (the government with taxpayer’s money)keep them in full employment during the 2 years of covid? No furlough for them and the huge pay cut that would have ensued, no let’s wait and abuse our powers and f it up for all them who were on furlough, as much as I am a trade unionist new trade union laws are needed to curb their powers or bring them in line with key workers who aren’t allowed to strike.

He did, simply by falling out with anybody that didn’t let him get his own way.(Allegedly) No allies left apart from the family.

No mention of the hundreds of millions of pounds profit made by the train companies in lockdown, and definition of ‘key worker’ isn’t the same as it was two and a half tears ago.
AWG, the bosses dream shop steward,’tell your members despite our huge profits they can have a real terms pay cut, trash their terms and conditions, and compulsory redundancies’. ‘Cheers boss’. 🖕July 28, 2022 at 3:56 pm #241428I’m a realist TW not a dreamer, the rail companies didn’t make a profit during covid, but the whole idea is to make a profit else no one would run them. Just take a look at our steelworks made loss after loss under Tata, they sold us for a £1 to Greybull, they made losses and put us into liquidation, the Tory government stepped up and run the company till the Chinese came in all them losses for years and years did the workers still get paid, you bet they did, Aslef need to realize how the government have looked after them negotiate and take a pay rise much in line with others.

July 28, 2022 at 4:25 pm #241430The government won’t let them negotiate a pay rise, the same government that should be running them, much like happened on the East Coast route.

July 28, 2022 at 4:55 pm #241433They have negotiated, an offer was made and then declined..
July 28, 2022 at 5:52 pm #241434Except the version of the offer made and released to the media wasn’t the one actually offered to the union. That’s what management due it’s called divide and conquer and you being such a loyal trade union member Awaywego obviously believe the management’s version of events every time. Same as Grant Shapps quoting train drivers wages as an example of what rail workers actually earn which is bull poop. Last time I looked the railways didn’t have 40,000 drivers but hey don’t let Government bullshit get in the way of the facts eh?

You seem to know a lot about everything, what was the offer that was made and declined ?
Here’s a clue it starts with a 0.July 28, 2022 at 8:51 pm #241441Awaywego as usual misses most of the point or all of it, then comes back with a comment both in support and against something.
Centrica has announced record profits of 1.34 billion, so why are we paying such high energy bills, especially when only 5% of our domestic gas supply comes from Russia?
As for Maidenhead we can always go by car at £10 a gallon.

Any train you are on operated by Northern and TPE will be driven by a driver who is a member of ASLEF.
Still waiting for you to reply with the details of the pay offer made which you say was declined.
Enjoy your day at Farsley.July 30, 2022 at 12:36 pm #241546He won’t reply if he’s losing the argument he never does.

July 30, 2022 at 9:42 pm #241594Aslef put a letter out about the latest strike on the 13th that says the company’s failed to make an offer that kept pace with the rising inflation, not no offer at all. on aslef.org.uk for all to see conveniently not saying what was offered. If anyone goes missing it ain’t me lol.

The letter is worded that the “….the companies failure to provide a suitable pay offer for 2022 is not acceptable to ASLEF…”
On the same website is a statement from Mick Whelan explaining the offer is nothing;
“And these companies are offering us nothing, saying their hands have been tied by the government. That means, in real terms, with inflation running ahead at 9%, 10%, and even 11% this year, according to which index you use, that they are being told to take a real terms pay cut. And that is not acceptable.“
When that inflation really hits is next year. I fear for our football club, when people are faced with huge energy cost increases and the general cost of living is going up around 10%, are they going to regularly pay to watch National League or even league 2 or 1 football.
Even if Swann leaves will they sell 1500 more season tickets next season ?July 31, 2022 at 11:39 am #241611So you just ignoring the letter then Classic, originally didn’t offer a reply to someone being so stupid to believe the offer they received was a big fat zero, I think we all know the offer that was made would be around 5%, last year us state pensioners got 3.1% instead of the 7.5% promised what leverage have we got to about it strike lol the only thing we can do is 1 little vote every election that will scare em.

I give up. I’ve quoted the letter I’ve seen – as in an actual letter on paper. Not something you claim to have seen on a website which I can’t actually find myself.
I’ve quoted Mick Whelans further explanation of it, from the ASLEF website. As for pensions – blame the Tories, they changed the rules that Camoron said were untouchable and that 3.1% was more than most people and I believe you’re getting 10% in 2023 as the triple lock has been restored. What more can I do ?
I certainly won’t be replying further to someone who calls me stupid for replying factually in order to dispel nonsense I’ve read.July 31, 2022 at 12:39 pm #241615Bloody hell I gave you the web page click on news and features article dated the 27/07/2022, did I ask you to do anything about my pension increase? Just showing an example of people without the ability to hold everyone to ransom and f everyone up. Of course you’ll not be replying theres nowhere to back your big fat 0% offer. I’ll say it again to believe the offer was 0% was and is stupid. If you can’t take an honest criticism maybe bru is not for you
July 31, 2022 at 12:43 pm #241617Classic this guy your attempting to reason with is an arse kicker, no more no less, best ignored.
