I do hope Stewart Maw won’t be putting himself forward.
No room for his type should be allowed in any roll of responsibility in any organisation associated with Scunthorpe United.

This is an open meeting where anyone is willing to speak. Suggestions are welcome, the sole aim of the group is to raise funds for the football club by open and transparent ways. All are welcome.

Can I ask why this cannot be achieved through the Iron Trust?

They are an oven ready, respectful outfit whom have already invested into the club via shares

Will the be more transparency than the questionable football card raffles? Will people be happy to part with more money for a Stuart Maw driven group in light of his questionable sexual interests that are still live on twitter?

I’m already a member of a Scunthorpe United Unity Group, it’s called the Iron Trust.

Haven’t seen the rules yet but your probably allowed to be a member of both.

Maybe the trust should introduce a rule to say you can’t, would be nice to have 2 directly opposing groups at loggerheads with each other.

It would be an odd group that wouldn’t allow membership of others.Ironicaklt I think Unity are more about disunity from what I’ve seen from it’s main protagonists

Political parties don’t allow it, and surely it’s all political.

For someone who wants proof of things it’s a bit premature to say both groups have the same aims. Will need to see their objectives and rules first.

Just been reading the toxic explosion on the Facebook cult page, about the Trust and the new Unity group. Hilarious! Not really sure those purporting Unity grasp the concept of unity. Rallying all efforts behind the Trust, as close to a carefully run and professional fans organisation as we’ve ever had, and intrinsic to the survival of the club to date, is the way forward. Not some middle-aged emo-angst teen-tit loving splinter group sitting in a corner blowing up balloons for kids parties.

I can’t believe that friction and name calling between groups that all support The Iron and have the clubs interests at heart achieves anything. There is more than one way to support The Club, if somebody’s ideas don’t align with your own that doesn’t necessarily make them wrong. For example it could be argued that subsidising away travel and hosting kids Christmas parties encourages support both now and in the future. Do we need to have antagonism between groups that seek to support The Club in different ways.
For avoidance of doubt – CT = Iron Trust member.

Personal grievances have coloured it from the start and Stuart Maw’s attacks on the Trust has created division in the fanbase.

I have no issue with this Unity Group doing raffles for away travel, but it would need to be transparent and that hasn’t been the case to date. They sold their fundraising as a bit more than their travel subsidies and it all seemed to be about praising the Maws. I don’t really see why this can’t be done through the Trust and it seems to be too tied up with some egos.

When the club was struggling for survival under the previous ownership the feeling that ran throughout the fanbase and general support from other clubs fan groups felt like football had shown it’s true colours about the larger football family. The money that was raised in quick time through all these good intentioned fans helped us get through long enough for the current board to get the wheels of long term survival going. That felt like proper unity and all parties worked together to make it happen. Now the club has stabilised this new unity group is rearing it’s head and for me personally this feels different and not like before. I will continue to be a member and support the goals of the Iron Trust but I will not be supporting this so called Unity Group because it doesn’t feel anything like what it’s name suggests. This is my personal opinion and others must judge for themselves.

I’m with Cass, the Trust’s aims are not for everyone and there is room for others .I am disappointed with these people as they want us to forget their pat online activities and even while launching their highest profile member was denigrating the trust. While launching on here they had a snide dig at the trust “Crumble corner” There’s also the question of using funds for activities not advertised when raising them .

Do Stuart Maw’s views represent the entire committee of the Unity Group regarding his salacious posts on Twitter? And will he, as a member of that committee, consider offering a public apology for his comments by 12pm tomorrow?

Having viewed the discussion about this Unity Group on the Facebook page my thoughts are that it seems to be about a few individuals courting publicity as opposed to the Iron Trust which seems to be anything but. Bit embarrassing from Jerry saying that the Trust are scared of competition. Not a good look.

Only just catching up on the day’s events and not on social media.

I would be very surprised if the Iron Trust became embroiled in a social media spat it’s just not their style.

I like the ‘oven ready’ tag of them. When I look at the quality of the Trust board and those being associated with the new Unity group there is no comparison quite frankly.

Only Karen Lee has a modicum of my respect. The other 3 all openly slate the Trust at times, one does it in eight minute You-Tube videos, whilst Jerry and Earl do it verbally.

Stuart is the driving force for the fundraising and the brains behind the operation.

Jerry is just Jerry but very misguided at times.

The other one is not worth a thought!!!!
