January 11, 2022 at 9:28 am #221194It’s shit or bust time within a fortnight now.

January 11, 2022 at 9:31 am #221195Why is Wood still here, doesn’t even make the squad.

January 11, 2022 at 9:45 am #221196Not surprised on Scrimshaw, clearly Hill doesn’t rate him and I tend to agree with him.
Billson is a more surprising one, Watson doesn’t have the best injury record as a keeper and do we really want to have to risk an emergency loan like with O’Shea?

January 11, 2022 at 10:26 am #221203O’Shea did okay.
Like you say it’s shit or bust!
January 11, 2022 at 10:31 am #221205Credit to Rory for getting Billson recalled, Coventry obviously want game time for him somewhere else or in their under 23s, wasted sitting on the bench here, well done Rory. Still think he’s a Jonah though.
January 11, 2022 at 10:33 am #221206Not sure it really means anything, the club twitter account says they were recalled by parent club, not sent back by us.
January 11, 2022 at 10:35 am #221207Tom Collins is quite a decent lad what’s the point in signing and paying pro footballers only to panic and bring I loanees. Is this the biggest worry we have got maybe not

January 11, 2022 at 10:48 am #221210It also frees another place for an outfield player let’s hope Hill can persuade a few to come in, though understandably it’s a tough job in our lge position.
January 11, 2022 at 10:49 am #221211O’Shea? can’t remember him.
January 11, 2022 at 12:56 pm #221233Come May Scrimshaw will be with a Premiership team. Billson a Championship one.
Whilst Burns will be leaving a National League Team!!!!!.
January 11, 2022 at 1:13 pm #221237With the glowing comment from Neil Cox about Scrimshaw still ringing in one’s shell likes ” He is a willing runner” !! Never understand why he was signed.
The keeper – that again was less than inspiring, obviously Mr Cox wanted Rory out, 1 game and Billson was missing for over 4 months !
Summed up – FARCE but it is what we became used to.

January 11, 2022 at 2:27 pm #221255O’Shea? can’t remember him.
Wasn’t that the name of the keeper who came in on loan from Burton when Watson was injured? Apologies if I’ve got his name wrong.
January 11, 2022 at 2:33 pm #221258January 11, 2022 at 2:42 pm #221261O’Hara.
My bad!
He was also the bodyguard of Han in Enter the Dragon but Bruce soon sorted him out.

January 11, 2022 at 4:48 pm #221270Glad bilson has been recalled and not sent back as the EFL might not have sanctioned an emergency loan if needed, they could have said we had a keeper but chose not to keep him.
Think we still need a second keeper as we only have a 1st year pro in Tom Collins and 2 youth team keepers in Owen foster and Jake balme, throwing those 2 into a league 2 relegation scrap would be suicidal.
Scrimshaw started brightly but then faded and didn’t appear to be part of Mr Hill’s plans from day one, Sam Burns looked okay on Saturday so let’s hope he doesn’t do a scrimshaw and fade away
January 11, 2022 at 4:57 pm #221271Not had the best of luck recently tempting these South coast loanees up here have we. Cordner and Vincent now in the NL, will Scrimshaw be heading the same way. Maybe we should look closer to home and get players used to Northern weather and lifestyle like Burns. Does the chief scout prefer to spend his time down south?

January 11, 2022 at 5:06 pm #221273Recent loanees over the last 2 seasons have been less than inspiring. I genuinely cannot see what the thinking behind them was. In particular – George Thomas from Leicester, has to been one of the worst.
The one person who deserves support/backing is Mr Keith Hill and he gets nothing. The club is still a mess, the communication to keep supporters informed is a disgrace – STILL.
January 11, 2022 at 7:18 pm #221296January 11, 2022 at 7:21 pm #221298Reliance on loans in the last few years have played a part in where we are now I reckon.
Look at any side near the top of any division and virtually none of them will be reliant on loan players. The spine of those sides will all be permanent signings.
Of course, the loaners we attract are usually readily available because the bigger clubs have a never ending supply of hopeful 19 year olds with no league experience and crucially, they’re ridiculously cheap which fits our business model.
The problem of course is you are just padding out the squad numbers on the cheap, and as you slip down the league structure your chances of striking lucky with the loan system (an Ivan Toney or Beckford etc) diminish to virtually nothing.
Does anyone seriously think there is a premier of championship club out there who will do a subsidised loan deal with Scunny – and provide us with a player they think anything about at all?
Would they send a player who fits in with their long term plans to Scunthorpe in the state we’re in to try and bail us out for 4 months in a League 2 relegation dogfight?
The answer is ‘no’, and so that’s why in the recent past we’ve got lads who are more likely that not going to be playing non league football in the not too distant future – and the parent club knows they probably aren’t going to make it, so it matters little where they send them.
I thinks it’s almost certain that only permanent and experienced signings in this window will stand a chance of possibly saving us.
January 11, 2022 at 7:50 pm #221304Robins said he called Billson back through lack of game time, and expects a quick turnaround and redirection to another club to gain the experience he needs.

Fair comment as he did come to Scunny for competitive game time experience which he has not had for what ever reasons.
Scrimshaw ?? obviously not rated by Hill so left out …could be the same as above.
Like to Wood gone and a couple more loaned out … alas non of this means Hill will find any half decent replacements , time is running out.
We need a local crazy Scunny FC fan to win the lotto n buy the club….sorry dreaming again !!
As said before L2 NL .. SUFC are my team through thick n thin its the thought of the club being lost into administration that worries me and its a distinct possibility the way things stand.
Sad day here as yesterday my Friday drinking buddy and wing man passed away .. great guy staunch Port Vale FC fan .. great company i will miss him and our daft football banter terribly.
There are more things to consider in life than being relegated.
January 12, 2022 at 9:16 am #221334Sorry to hear that Ironfromafar, that’s horrible. We lost one of our regular away day group last year and it was so weird going back to games and seeing the gap where they used to stand.
On Scrimshaw – his finishing looked ok but otherwise I thought he offered virtually nothing – poor control, not much passing, just a lot of running.

Bin out injured For months what game time is he expect perhaps we should drop our own and welcome him back . Don’t think so not under Hill

January 12, 2022 at 1:24 pm #221355Like I said its all down to Rory playing well this year, sure even Billson recognised that fact and wouldn’t expect any game time, been one of Rory’s biggest critics i will say again well done Rory keep it up.

January 12, 2022 at 7:57 pm #221410Scrimshaw reminded me of Dagnall when he was here, ran around a lot and hard work rate through the roof but never effected games because he was never usually in the right place.
I suspect Scrimshaw will be non league next year as I can’t see a league club taking a punt on him.
January 12, 2022 at 9:36 pm #221426For most of Scrimshaw’s starts he was in a team with no method to attack and little inclination to do so.
He is a young lad trying hard to learn his trade. Personally I think he will make a league player. The lad will score goals if he gets chances. Unlike WG I thought he did get into good areas. The team were not good enough to get the ball to him once he got there.
Even as loan signings 19 and 20 year olds are no use at the bottom of League 2.
January 13, 2022 at 1:20 am #221441Mk, last 3 loan spells at league clubs he’s played 47 matches and scored 8 goals. 14, scored 2 at Walsall, 16 for Newport and scored 3, 17 for us and scored 3.
Scrimshaw went on loan to Eastleigh in national league in 2020 season before he went to Walsall and played 9 and scored 0. Only club he was consistent at was Pool Town.
I just don’t think he’s very good. Brilliant attitude though !
January 13, 2022 at 9:18 am #221444And not forgetting that he has the finest combover in modern football!
