He was almost half way to the half way line when they lost possession.
    Schoolboy error.

    Got to laugh though….😄😅😄😅😅😅

Reminded me of Kieran Westwood when Andy Keogh scored from the halfway line at Carlisle.

Watson doesn’t come off his line, never mind out of his box!

    That’s a relief, I thought we’d signed one.

Modern day keepers tend to patrol the edge of their areas when their team is attacking the opposition box as it gives them a chance to run out and clear any over hit balls quickly from a beleaguered opponent and keep his team pressing. However the Scottish lad was way further out then that and was at fault but what a superb piece of skill from Schick, the curve and trajectory of his effort plus the speed of thought involved was outstanding, his first goal wasn’t half bad either, what a great header. Thought the Czechs looked a decent outfit and for all Scotland’s huffing and puffing they were beaten by a much better side IMO.

    Aye, I’d agree.

It’s a pity about Scotland. Their passion is terrific and the fans create a great atmosphere. I was enjoying the commentary too, intelligent and balanced. But the sight of the hapless Marshall sprinting back to his goal – Forrest Gump style – as the ball flew over his shoulder and he threw himself into the back of the net, was up there with the best/worst of ‘em. Sunday league goal. I think the players and fans all knew it, and they just couldn’t respond.

I forget who was interviewed after, but he was understandably close to tears.

Never mind. If they beat England, all will be forgiven and forgotten.

Can’t understand anyone whose first instinct on seeing a goal as brilliant as Schick’s is to blame the goalkeeper.

Depends who it is. In this instance, I can. Quite enjoy seeing Marshall flailing around in the net though – like a drunk Spiderman.

Well, it was funny, although I felt sorry for Scotland. Was hoping for a rip-roaring display of Celtic passion, blood and thunder, but it ended with tragi-comedy.
Ferrite, it’s true it was a great shot, but had Marshall been further back, I don’t think Schick would have tried his luck with a one-in-a-million shot.

That’s football. Goalkeeper gets the blame for wandering 10 yards out of position. Hardly anyone blames the centre back for trying a Hollywood shot with virtually his whole team in and around the box and a simple ball outside guarantees a dangerous cross.

If I was coach it’s the centre back getting the bollocking.

Here’s another one who fancied his chances and got lucky.
