Sam solcombe ,just signed a new 2 year contract at notts county
June 22, 2021 at 11:36 am #209048Will be interesting to know if we offered him a deal. If we did that would be two non league players we have offered deals to that havent signed.
June 22, 2021 at 11:44 am #209049Maybe it’s Sam Johnstone that’s coming back!

Only 2 ? Not good at communicating this club and getting worse.
June 22, 2021 at 12:44 pm #209051Really not losing any sleep over us not signing him back. Decent enough keeper at non league /div 2 level but nothing that can not be got from elsewhere.

June 22, 2021 at 1:08 pm #209053I do agree razor, but if we can’t pay enough for a bang average local boy, how bad is our budget.

June 22, 2021 at 2:05 pm #209057Can’t expect our budget to very big if the poll results are indicative of all fan intentions of attending Glan siro next season, 41% don’t intend going back so income will be greatly reduced. Max Bell said we could learn from Morecambe on how it can be done, though I do wish he had told us before the season started and not after it finished.

Topics: 11Sanfran you don’t half talk rubbish! Do you honestly expect someone from the club to notify the fans about every player they offer a contract to? Have you not heard of confidentiality.
June 22, 2021 at 2:33 pm #209060Sam rejected us, didn’t feel it was the right time to come back and wants to be competing at the top end of the league.
June 22, 2021 at 3:33 pm #209061Is it that unreasonable to expect the club to share info about offers they’ve made? No one’s expecting contractual detail, just the general activity, like most communicative clubs do. Maybe an update now and again? Might generate interest for when supporters are allowed back, increase season tickets sales, etc.
June 22, 2021 at 3:39 pm #20906350/50 on this. Think we should be aiming for better but if the alternative is Watson then I’d have Sam back in an instant.
Hope there is another plan.

Can you highlight the post where Sanfran said that – I can’t seem to find it.
June 22, 2021 at 4:03 pm #209065“one in the Football League where I didn’t feel it was the right time to go back there”, I presume he’s talking about us in that case? I can’t imagine Blackpool or Oxford were in for him, maybe Bristol Rovers?
June 22, 2021 at 5:01 pm #209068Is this really what it’s now come to? Being unable to lure bang average players out of non-league! Just highlights the depths to which we have sunk.

June 22, 2021 at 5:08 pm #209069Look at it like this:
He’s presently playing for a non league club who did well enough last season.
He can stay for more of the same, or move to a club playing negative football and who are favoutites for the drop next season.
No brainerJune 22, 2021 at 5:45 pm #209071At his age only two things matter. Length of contract and how much each week. The offer from Notts County obviously beat ours in at least one of these areas. Suspect there are at least half a dozen keepers of Sam’s standard looking for a club just now.
June 22, 2021 at 5:54 pm #209072Would not be surprised as well if the club were only prepared to offer a 1 year deal, which is all Alex Kenyon signed for. Maybe thats the new strategy, keeping players hungry for the next contract and not been lumbered with them (ie Turan,Jarvis etc) if it goes tits up.
June 22, 2021 at 7:11 pm #209080It went tits up a while back!
Have you not heard of confidentiality.
Have you not heard of club/fan communication?
June 22, 2021 at 10:02 pm #209089But regarding non league, there is a big difference between Notts County and Grimsby Town v signing from Mickleover, Barwell or Hemel Hempstead Town, never mind Bonner SC.
June 23, 2021 at 7:36 am #209094I’m glad SS has signed a deal elsewhere he wasn’t great at all. Rather see Howard stay if that’s what we are looking at.
June 23, 2021 at 8:23 am #209099we are not signing Howard, Rory Watson will be number 1 I am afraid.
June 23, 2021 at 9:10 am #209100So we really have learned nothing from last season then.

June 23, 2021 at 1:39 pm #209109I’ve said all along its Yosemite Sam we are signing as goalkeeper for next season, with his two six guns and that fearsome moustache no player will go near our goal. Scary stuff coming folks!!!! Yes it’s called RELEGATION.
June 23, 2021 at 4:00 pm #209124Rory Watson will be number 1 I am afraid.
Surely however low the budget that can’t be allowed to happen again.
I think it’ll be the end of me watching games if he is the number 1. Not sure I’ll be able to force myself to carry on through any more of that.
June 23, 2021 at 8:29 pm #209135So we’ve been priced out of a RB from Grimsby town who was injured for large parts of last season and Slocombe who didn’t even want to come back here despite us tabling an offer.
Jesus christ…this is how far back Swann has taken us.

June 23, 2021 at 8:43 pm #209136Although we need signings I can’t say I’m disappointed not to have signed Hendrie or Slocombe. Maybe we didn’t try that hard, we’ll have them but only if they’re really cheap.
June 24, 2021 at 12:28 am #209144Ok saying you’re not disappointed but if we can’t afford/attract those two, who the hell are we going to end up with ?
Telling you now, we’ll wait till the end and pick up the bottom of the barrel dregs that nobody else wants.
I hope to god we have luck on our side when it comes to cheap signings because if not, in my eye’s we’re certs to go down.
In my opinion we need about 8/9 players. I’m pretty sure Swann said we’re looking to sign 5…not looking forward to this.

June 24, 2021 at 7:58 am #209145Alex Kenyon has signed a 1 yr deal ! Notice a trend.
Already at the end of the 21/22 season there are almost 12 that will be considering their options. A situation of our making and like the our clueless recruitment plan over the previous 3 seasons will leave us in an even weaker situation.
Why consider this now, it shows we have no plan.

June 24, 2021 at 8:45 am #209148It’s cutting edge proactive / reactive transfer strategy and we should be grateful. We proactively wait to react to whatever’s left at the bottom of the can. Prod it, if it moves, sign it.
