Morning all. Starting the weekend as optimistic as ever! Got my tickets for this afternoon, looking forward to Keefs first proper game in charge and how the team will shape up. I’m going for a comfortable 2.0 UTI

    A pint?
I’ll have shares in his brewery.

0-2, Salford to score two in the last quarter of an hour.

I’m optimistic, but I’m usually optimistic at the start of every game, well at least for ten minutes.

Just seen the mugshot of KH on the podcast link below.

I don’t think we’ve a new manager at all. Just that under all the stress Cox has aged twenty years!

The team selection will prove whether I’m right or wrong.

Be interesting to see how we line up. No Davis limits the opportunity for 3 at the back; Despite Cox’s thoughts, Rowe is not a centre back.

    Watson

    Rowe
    Onarisie
    Taft
    O’Malley

    Pugh
    beestin
    Perry/Hackney

    Loft
    Jarvis
    Scrimshaw

Agree Cass would like to see a 4-4-2 initially, no problem with Jarvis from what I’ve seen this season but Loft gets the nod over him for me in that team shape. Feeling in a good mood about today because we have an experienced man at the helm who won’t be afraid to change things if that is what’s required. Heart says 2-0, head says 1-1 and I will take either in Keith’s first league game in charge of us. UP THE IRON.

Would prefer a 4-4-2. Just a question of who goes on the wings.

In just over a week the manager will have been in charge for 3 games. 2 of these have been used to look at the players available.

442 for me and I would have Wilson as the Right Wing Back. Could Thompson and O’Malley be the left side FB and WB ? Up top Loft and Scrimshaw. Pugh and Beestin in centre mid. Back 4 as said.

Just what I was thinking Sanfran.

Seeing as how two of our better players share the LB role I’d like to see one pushed up wide left.

Still not enough experience in CMF for me. I hope one or two of those lads mature quickly.

So Pugh starts on the bench and Wilson can’t even make that.

1-1, with less possession at home and 1/3 of the shots on target that the opposition managed.
And it’s not like they were a top side.
Plus ca change, plus c’est le meme chose.
A point at home isn’t enough.
    Going down.

    Observations:

Sideswipe from the manager at players on the treatment table at the start of the week who declare fit in time for the next match. WHY did he feel the need to say this, I ask myself?

Kenyon, when match fit, will do us a job.

Well done by the young FBs.

Interesting that Hill supported ref on their 2 penalty calls and our disallowed goal.

Mrs LesGeo thought that the ball which hit the post was most likely a goal.

Perry did some terrific stuff. My MOTM, maybe.

The goal conceded was pretty horrible.

Hackney looking to be the player we had hoped for.

Hill clearly sees that fitness levels must improve which is what so many have stated on this forum.

The ultra deep defending late in games does come from a lack of fitness rather than tactical ineptitude, it would seem.

The thing is, I trust Keith Hill to sort out the mess. My biggest concern is that there are 9 games in which Taft and Manny HAVE to stay fit as our only available CBs.

Very encouraging performance and much improved in some areas. Some nice stuff played but we have to cut out the little silly errors, I think we might just be ok.

Decent enough point in the end. Disappointed we couldn’t keep the ball better as we did in the first half

Created more chances than usual, but just seemed to run out of stream and ideas.

Good to see an extra 500 home fans on the gate. Hopefully a few more positive results and we can return to the dizzying heights of 3k

Thought Hackney played well before tiring but had 2 decent chances to hit the target and didn’t. Based on last week and this – how close does Jarvis have to be to score? Reckon Beestin would have scored both todays chances.

    Stupid goal to give away
I will be there next game to see if it improves.

Think there was an improvement all round today, we tried to play football got the ball forward quicker and although we didn’t create lots of chances thought we should have won the game.

If we can keep Kenyan fit he looks a decent player! He scrapped for everything, won his fare share of headers and helped out the defence when needed, also think we have a decent player in Hackney.

All-round much better from loft but needs to force himself on games and do more running at defences with the ball As he scares defenders when he does it, another week with Keith in training and we should be better again.

All in all I left GP today feeling more positive then I have for along time and if we can continue from today’s performance I believe we can start to climb the today.

Hill has recognised that some players are not fit enough which is something many of us suspected for a long while. For players not to be fit by mid-November is disgusting and says a lot for Cox and Lillis. How can we hope to avoid relegation

Jarvis is pants – runs fancy but touch, control and understanding are completely missing.

Anybody else would’ve scored that – and I would include KDT in that

Listening to Hill’s after match interview it sounds like we have a proper manager know who actually understands football and people. I think he will and has spotted the shirkers/sick notes and I expect we will quickly move forwards.
It doesn’t say much for the previous management when the players are unfit.

    Onariase and O’Malley exceptional today.

First time I have left a game this season thinking we might stay up.

Played a club today with much better players than ours and we made them look very ordinary for 60 minutes until we run out of steam.

It’s probably a blessing we will have a free weekend FA cup second round week. Hill will be able to get some real stamina work into the squad.

Kenyon,Loft and Perry were running on empty for much of the second half. These three have nor had much game time so should improve with training and games all three worked hard today. A glimmer of hope starting to appear.

A lot better performance today, draw was a fair result, it was hard to see why the goal was disallowed but manager said it was for Scrimshaw being offside, their penalty claims were close calls but it makes a change decisions going our way for once, Hill sounds a very positive manager so we will see if he delivers what he promises.

Amazingly we are only one win away from being out of the bottom two. How we are not well adrift by this point is amazing. Shows there are poor teams at this end of the league so definitely some hope we can put a run together and stay up now.

If we’d not run out of steam and hung on we would have been out of the bottom two.

Likewise if those late equalisers we conceded against Carlisle, Sutton and Barrow had been avoided we’d have been in a much better place.

If Hill can sort that out we just might get out of this predicament.

And yes, I’ve used a lot of “ifs” but we’re not adrift by mid November, which did seem likely six weeks ago.
