agree with the last 3 posts .. what is the point of going out n winning 11 – 0 and learning nowt, can a fixture be taken seriously when the full side is swapped at half time so as everyone got a run out.. Cass hit the nail on the head.

Same here … when we do finally know them it may give an indication of the guys that will be starting more often ..IMO without a long injury / suspended list there are some im guessing who wont get much first team starting action n on the bench… DSF amongst others may find himself in that category

A team sheet yesterday with player numbers would have been helpful, God knows who most of them were lol.

Probably Jimmy hasn’t decided yet, maybe before the final couple of friendlies things will become clearer. Some of the remainers might want to keep the same number (Elliott 5) and some of the newcomers might have a preference based on previous experience. Whatever happens the chances of the first NLN match starting with 1-11 are slim IMO.

Don’t agree, different games have different objectives. Almost certainly players were looking after themselves yesterday, get fitter, get back to match football with new colleagues and don’t get injured (for example )would be far more important than the result.

Players tend to get injured when they are trying their hardest not to get injured.

Well one things certain AA you weren’t watching, I went I wasn’t disappointed we could have scored an hatfull with better finishing but they weren’t sharp enough that’s what friendlies are all about getting up to full match fitness and sharpness, plus it lets the manager assess who his team is going to be, and he probably learnt more from conceding the 2 goals than the ones we scored.

    Not in UK at moment.

Brigg 2-2 SUFC … 4 leagues below us.
Winterton 1-0 SUFC … 2 leagues below us

    Ilkeston away on Saturday.
They have their “kick abouts” just one league below us.
They’ll be revved up on Saturday!

Pre season is an assessment of the squad – it only offers a very small glimpse into the season ahead. Having said that I don’t think JD has a clue what he’s doing but he’ll get a good portion of the season to demonstrate it. That’s not based on preseason as I’ve seen none of it.

I’d hope by the final 2 friendlies, there’s a settled and gelling starting 11 putting in decent performances with potential. If not, I’d be worried.

    Now we know it’s serious.
Even the happy clappers on the faceache forum have started to turn on him.
Somebody remind me, since he’s been here, how many games has he been in charge of and how many wins can he claim?

Noticed that. Don’t hang about do they?!

Some on here may find it amusing that Alcazar is on there (or who I suspect is him), slagging off Bru and that ‘Marxist’ deleting his posts, but refraining from sharing endless conspiracy theorist vids. Maybe that’s further down the line 🤣🤣

Upon checking it appears Dean has been in sole charge of 19 games, winning only 3.
15% win rate, that could be among the worst return for any of our managers.
The argument that last season wasn’t his team holds no water as the club signed an unbelievable amount of players after his arrival.
There’s a pattern and the pattern suggests the manager is not only not capable of stringing a sentence together without the words “erm” and “ya know” every 3 seconds, it appears he has no tactical nouse or control over his players.

Lol, ‘Liebour’! Yes, pretty sure it’s him. Bizarrely, I’ve realised I actually spent quite a bit of time with him when I was younger. How mad is that?! I won’t say much more. Respect his privacy and all that.

I assume you mean the guy with a Christian name that’s fairly common in Iron Bru circles?

Not sure about that. He hasn’t actually said he was known as Alcazar on here. He might want to keep his Alcy shenanigans separate and I respect that. It did amuse me though

I thought the whole purpose of pre-season was to –
    a. Gel and integrate new signings into the culture of their new team
    b. Work on fitness and avoid injury
    c. Work on systems, new formations, trying different players within the new formations
    d. Work on attacking and defending set piece routines
    e. Learn from mistakes
And bring all the above together by playing games against opposition who are also trying the above in their own way.

I would much rather the management team and players be doing all the above than smashing whatever team they are playing 10-0. As much as it is nice winning 7,8,9,10,11-0 do you learn anything from that? (yes we can score goals but as a contest it’s potentially over as soon as the third goal goes in).
We saw last season that you cant just chuck 10+ players into a team and expect them to come up with the goods, it takes time. And that is the beauty of pre season. There should be nothing on the results I’m more bothered about staying free from injury, creating a starting 11 with 5 subs who can slot in when/where required and have a sub set of players who can interchange with the 16 matchday players when/where required and the whole squad knowing what their role and what is expected of them when they are playing.

Save the performances and results for when they really matter starting on the 5th of August.

Given the blind faith that some show towards Hilton which I have to say in bordering on cult like, I am surprised at how much stick Dean is getting especially as Hilton only appointed him less than 6 months ago. There appears to be some inconsistencies when it comes to the In Hilton We Trust movement!

Nice sly back door DH dig there IB … maybe you would like DH to sack Jimmy that would surely assist in your crusade against him.

From the PL to NLN across the whole footballing spectrum results define how a manager is received nothing else… poor decisions , tactics leading to bad results and of course the manager will get stick.

What ever the fans think of JD hes getting his chance so lets see how it pans out …
