I’ve held back in recent weeks but enough is enough!!!!

He doesn’t know what he’s doing and his total incompitence is making people question David Hilton when that doesn’t need to be the case.

My choice was Craig Elliot who Boston let go, now most Boston fans regret that!
He dropped down a league to manage Matlock town and had them in the play offs but Buxton (bottom 3 in the NLN) came calling for him and he’s won almost every game since taking them from the relegation zone to a play off place with one game to go… Take a look Jimmy because you’ve had more than enough games and we’ve got worse!!!!!!

Even if it’s not Elliot it can not be Dean!!
    He’s totally useless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

David Hilton… this man is causing you issues you don’t need… You messed up the appointment… admit that and move on because Dean isn’t the man for next season and he’s going to cost you a lot if you don’t move him on!!

Whether we like it or not Dean will get a full summers recruit to have a complete rebuild. I can’t see him lasting very long though if we don’t get off to a good start because Hilton despite still backing him is a little dubious already and has said himself the jury is well and truly out.

People can say what they like and use every excuse in the book but since Dean came in for Nelson we’ve gone downhill ever since. I thought Nelson came up with a system and had us playing really good football and then Dean came in and all went to shit for the most part.

As with so many recent Scunthorpe managers – we have a man in charge tasked with doing the impossible.
I agree. He can’t do it. He’s tried just about everything you could try and none has worked. They haven’t even looked as though they might.
He has a certain pedigree – whether that will be enough only time will tell.
If given a possible task, then – and only then – can we judge his success level.

    4-2-3-1 is old hat now.
    Things have moved on.

The best club in the world, Real Madrid have won 14 European Cups / Champions League and deploy a 4-3-3

    As do Barcelona.

    As (primarily) do Man City

    And, Liverpool

    And, and, and…

The 4-2-3-1 reached its pinnacle between 2008-12 with the Spanish national team.

Jimbob probably did his coaching badges and read the bumf a decade ago when this formation was de rigueur and conquering the world.

    4-2-3-1 (history)
Juanma Lillo, a Spanish coach currently working as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, is credited with being the first proponent of this system. A largely unknown but nonetheless revolutionary coach, Lillo was a major early influence on Guardiola, having taken charge of his first La Liga club, Salamanca, in 1992, aged just 29. It was here that he began advocating for the 4-2-3-1 shape.

    #######

As I’ve said above… things have moved on since then.

4-3-3 would better suit the ‘calibre’ of player this club employs.

    Time for a change Jimbob.

Actually, MFI, our players are not quite as good as those who play for Man City, Liverpool and Barcelona.
But it is an easy mistake to make.

Still think things should have been left alone when Hilton came in! He has made a lot of his own criticism by making decisions to soon then back tracking, IMO he should have took his time had a good luck at every aspect of the club only then make the decisions.

The jury is definitely still out on Jimmy and it will be for at least 2 months of next season, with the club on its knees waiting for the executioner it’s time to try and have some stability off the pitch to maximise the playing side.

To many times we have swung to axe which is one of the reasons we are where we are, so let’s give them a chance to try and sort this bloody mess by giving our support.

What’s the excuses for keeping him.
We’ve sacked too many managers- last three were sacked for poor performance so it’s consistent
It’s not his team – he’s had an open chequebook like he did at P/Sports and elsewhere
Give him a chance he’ll get you back – usually from one of his drinking pals in Dogsthorpe/Werrington
He knows the NLN – he managed in it for a few months
    Repeat ad infitinum

    3 wins from 17…

Apart from him been a totally useless manager, for whatever reason i just can’t seem to take to him.

A lot of the backroom staff feel the same way.

Can’t comment on his tactics but I hope he’s not as defeatist in the dressing room as he is in his interviews, he comes across as anything but a leader. I always wasn’t impressed with the way he seemed to wash his hands of any responsibility for the results since he took over in his interview on Saturday – saying that it needed a lot of turning round and a lot of new players – well, you signed most of the squad Jimmy, so why should we trust you to do it all over again?

He had 17 matches with nothing to lose ! He could have entertained, maintained the stability that Mr Nelson seemed to be creating.

But the ‘nothing to lose’ became completion of a created demise. His post matches are as bad as Mr Cox’s and that takes some doing !!!

“The first FA course is the only qualification that you need to manage a non-league football team. It costs around £150 – £200 and requires 32 hours of education in both the theory and practical elements of football coaching.”

So, we know Jimbob’s got his Level One.

The word on the street is, that he’s on his Level 2 now.

If Hilton sacked Jimbob now would there be any relevance in Hilton himself, new owner not being able to keep his choice of manager, what actually do want from Hilton and what do expect him to get out of it bearing in mind he’s not a Scunthorpe fan.

According to twitter Cox the other day said in so many words that the signings which came in with Hilton’s arrival weren’t Deans for the most part and Hilton signed off on them. If that’s actually true I shouldn’t have thought Dean would have had much of a say.

I don’t know how true that is so I’m not even trying to confirm this but it’s certainly an interesting claim.

Sembie Ferris was on odd one though who came with Dean as he was only signed until the end of the season !

Give him a full pre-season and ten games into next?

Isn’t that what we did with Cox and Hill?

And I can’t see the scenario being any different to the previous times. Poor results, precarious position, sacked in October, struggle to find new players, second half of the season becomes a relegation battle.

    Rinse and repeat!

Cox suggested on Humberside on Saturday pre match that at least some of the signings were not Dean’s choices.

It is obvious that neither Dean or Hilton had seen many of them in action simply because most were not playing for their clubs. Hilton admitted on the podcast interview that Thompson was his idea.

Perhaps more interestingly Cox became the first ex Iron manager from the Swann era to confirm our long held suspicions regarding the chairman’s influence on signings and team selection.

Little wonder we are in the sh1t.

Hilton, like all chairman needs to decide whose football opinion he trusts, be that Dean or someone else and let them get on with it.

Trust!! Something seriously lacking both in and around GP it seems.
Who can be trusted? A short list I think – players? management? ownership? supporters?

You have to look at the ones with Peterborough connections to be sure. He’s signed Semble Ferris a few times over.

Jimbob? … hardly the fount of knowledge.

No wonder the lads aren’t playing for him if he isn’t qualified.

    Perhaps Jimbob’s just a puppet, a frontman, a fall guy, a patsy?
Perhaps most people are viewing it as a land grab?
Perhaps the football is an interference & inconvenience?
    Perhaps?

From what Dean has said about the next players coming in is that they will 100% be a groups pick between Mussy, Himself, Plummer and Turnbull and Dean will have the final say which is what it should be like at all clubs.

Whether this makes a difference or not we’ll have to see.

Let’s hope he’s awarded the keys to the town next May.

However, the odds are against that.

How many games do you think the fans will give him before we here the chants?
