May 5, 2022 at 6:25 pm #236772Sorry I meant Rory lol
Is he no good
May 5, 2022 at 6:28 pm #236773His names Rory Watson and we have a love hate relationship with him.
Always been a great shot stopper but the rest of his game has taken a while to catch up.
He won pretty much all of our player of the season awards but given our season perhaps don’t read too much into that.
You will get a wide range of opinions on Rory but personally I think he is now decent and would expect him to continue to get better. Certainly worth the £0 he will cost you.
May 5, 2022 at 6:52 pm #236775He’s improved, but I am not sure if he’s good enough for league two really, never mind league one. :-)
May 5, 2022 at 7:05 pm #236776England’s number 1, to be honest he needs a fresh start and so do we.
May 5, 2022 at 7:24 pm #236777He’s rubbish. Won’t be missed by me.

May 5, 2022 at 7:58 pm #236781With a hugely low bar, he’s won the player of the season awards and improved immensely this season.
I think the amount of practice he’s had with the number of incoming shots he’s had to field given no ‘hold up’ forwards, no midfield and a variably reliable defence has helped!
Unfortunately towards the back end of the season he reverted to the Watson of old, and came out with a fair few right howlers.
At League 1 level – good luck with that one. Hope the lad does well for you.
May 5, 2022 at 8:21 pm #236783Personally I think this has been his ‘coming out’ year as a goalkeeper and he’s improved all areas of his game.
Deserves another crack at league football but I’d be surprised if he ended up in league one

May 5, 2022 at 8:40 pm #236784Have no fear shrimp, once he leaves us he’s bound to flourish. A lot do, and some fans say it’s because the club is rotten to the core. Some of our own even say we have the worst supporters in the country and that players are driven out. If Rory joins you I can guarantee his quality of life will improve. And he’ll save some shots for you.
May 5, 2022 at 9:04 pm #236788Exchange for Delaney I hope.

May 5, 2022 at 9:07 pm #236789Just look at his stats down the years shrimp and make your own mind up, especially last season do a comparison between him and mark Howard over the season.
May 5, 2022 at 10:27 pm #236792Exchange for Delaney I hope.
I would love to see Delaney here next season but the swap is not a possibility.
Giving players of the season a contract is not the way we do things here Cass.

May 5, 2022 at 11:29 pm #236793One thing’s for sure, he’s used to a relegation battle!
May 6, 2022 at 6:05 am #236794Has Swanny’s son got the chief scouts job at Morecambe? It looks like it if they are interested in Rory Watson.

May 6, 2022 at 7:18 am #236795Unfortunately we have a number of “supporters” that think a league 2 keeper should be a brilliant shot stopper, catch every single balls that ventures past the 18 yard line, be a world class sweeper and be able to get an assist with every kick or throw, they fail to realise that any keeper with all that in his game would not be plying their trade in league 2 !
Rory has his faults BUT he has been playing behind 10 piles of utter shite and has been used as shooting practise for pretty much every team he has come up against, our goals against is horrendous but would have been a hell of a lot worse without him this season. All in all I think you will get a good keeper who with the right coaching and support from your fans can become a VERY good keeper.

May 6, 2022 at 10:44 am #236801Watch him flourish once he leaves our cesspit, I tells ye!

Nothing against Mussy, but we haven’t had a great record with keepers of late.

To be honest, I doubt it. People were saying similar about Slocombe after he left, who is and was a better goalkeeper, and he has not consistently held a spot for any league club since.
May 6, 2022 at 12:27 pm #236808He’s not league standard.
He has improved this year to the level where he might be a decent league 2/ national league backup but if he’s your starter you are in trouble. The bar for improvement was so low it’s difficult to say.
He was very very lucky to get another chance with us this year.

May 6, 2022 at 1:45 pm #236812If I am wrong I don’t care, I am just giving my opinion on Watson, as we all do. :-)

May 6, 2022 at 4:06 pm #236815He is not a future England keeper! Lol
May 6, 2022 at 4:26 pm #236820I wrote him off long ago.
I’ve been wondering many times this season if I was a bit hasty .May 6, 2022 at 6:11 pm #236824Scunny fans have been great this season. UTWI
